    The acceleration of social urbanization and education universalization in the past 30 years of China has promoted the popularization of mandarin among the public. Meanwhile, the dialect, as a unique regional language, is gradually dying away. In the city where I grew up, Taizhou, only the elders are likely to speak Taizhou dialect frequently in their life, while others prefer to use mandarin rather than dialect. The truth is the usage rate of dialect has gradually decreased from generation to generation. The primary goal of this thesis is to provide an opportunity for the public to “dialogue with the past” through an immersive language exhibition. The Taizhou Dialect is a local language spoken by residents of Taizhou City, on the southeast coast of China. This language is quite different from Mandarin in terms of pronunciation, words, and grammar. However, due to the acceleration of social urbanization and Mandarin popularization in the past 30 years of China, the usage rate of this local dialect is decreasing from generation to generation. An online questionnaire of 2019 shows that around 70% of the population in Taizhou City is accustomed to using Mandarin in daily communication, but no longer the dialect. Protecting and popularizing the disappearing dialects is critical before they are lost forever. From the perspective of protecting multiculturalism, the dialect is a carrier of local Intangible Cultural, the dying death of the dialect meaning these unique local cultures will also die away when the dialect no longer exists in our daily life. Furthermore,regional languages give people a sense of belonging and prompts emotional communication between neighbors. There is a well known ancient Chinese poem that makes clear the relationship between language, home and belonging: I was young when I went away and came home as an old man. My accent has not changed at all but my hair is now gray. Unlike typical exhibitions that focus more on displayed objects, this project emphasizes and establishes the intimate connection between the audiences and the exhibit information through an immersive and interactive space hosted in Taizhou Contemporary Art Museum. As Taizhou’s first contemporary art center, the recently built Taizhou Contemporary Art Museum plays a significant - 4 - role in Taizhou’s public art education. It is located inside of a cultural and creative center which is a major area of activity for residents nearby and also brings many young local people together. Dialects stories will be staged there and take the audiences to dialogue with the past

    Glycine-Histidine-Lysine (GHK) Alleviates Neuronal Apoptosis Due to Intracerebral Hemorrhage via the miR-339-5p/VEGFA Pathway

    Glycine-histidine-lysine (GHK) is a human tripeptide that enhances wound healing, exerts neuroprotective effects against neurodegenerative disease, and improves tissue regeneration. This study examined whether GHK can alleviate injury due to intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Briefly, adult Wistar rats in GHK pretreatment groups were injected with GHK (1 or 10 mg/kg, i.p.) every 24 h for 3 days. Water content and intact neurons were detected in the rats 3 days after ICH, and the neurological deficit scores were examined in the rats at 4, 24, 72, and 168 h after ICH. Apoptosis was evaluated via caspase-3 immunohistochemistry, Nissl staining, and TUNEL assay. We also examined the effect of GHK on the expression of related proteins in SH-SY5Y cells via Western blotting. The expression of miR-339-5p was examined via real-time polymerase chain reaction analyses. GHK improved neurological deficits, reduced water content in the brain and inhibited neuronal apoptosis in ICH rats. It also prevented the apoptosis of SH-SY5Y cells with hemin treatment. Furthermore, GHK downregulated miR-339-5p expression, and overexpression of miR-339-5p partially reversed the anti-apoptotic effects of GHK in SH-SY5Y cells. Our findings suggest that the p38 MAPK pathway is involved in the GHK-induced downregulation of miR-339-5p, and that the miR-339-5p/VEGFA axis plays a role in preventing neuronal apoptosis following ICH injury. These findings indicate that GHK may represent a novel therapeutic strategy for ICH

    SelFLoc: Selective Feature Fusion for Large-scale Point Cloud-based Place Recognition

    Point cloud-based place recognition is crucial for mobile robots and autonomous vehicles, especially when the global positioning sensor is not accessible. LiDAR points are scattered on the surface of objects and buildings, which have strong shape priors along different axes. To enhance message passing along particular axes, Stacked Asymmetric Convolution Block (SACB) is designed, which is one of the main contributions in this paper. Comprehensive experiments demonstrate that asymmetric convolution and its corresponding strategies employed by SACB can contribute to the more effective representation of point cloud feature. On this basis, Selective Feature Fusion Block (SFFB), which is formed by stacking point- and channel-wise gating layers in a predefined sequence, is proposed to selectively boost salient local features in certain key regions, as well as to align the features before fusion phase. SACBs and SFFBs are combined to construct a robust and accurate architecture for point cloud-based place recognition, which is termed SelFLoc. Comparative experimental results show that SelFLoc achieves the state-of-the-art (SOTA) performance on the Oxford and other three in-house benchmarks with an improvement of 1.6 absolute percentages on mean average recall@1

    A metamodel for the notation of graphical modeling languages

    In order to define a graphical modeling language, it is,necessary to define the,graphical notation of the language in the process of metamodeling. So the defining of the notation has become one of the essential functions in metamodeling tools. This paper proposed the Notation Definition Metamodel (NDM) for metamodeling tools. NDM is used to define the graphical notation. It consists of three parts: basic figures and layouts, location relations and syntax bridges. NDM has been implemented in PKU MetaModel Tool (PkuMMT).. The paper made a case study to illustrate the feasibility of NDM.     Case report: Target and immunotherapy of a lung adenocarcinoma with enteric differentiation, EGFR mutation, and high microsatellite instability

    BackgroundPulmonary enteric adenocarcinoma (PEAC) is a rare histological subtype of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with a predominant (>50%) enteric differentiation component. The frequency of high microsatellite instability (MSI-H) is very low in lung cancer. EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors and immunotherapy are standard treatment for NSCLC patients, but their effectiveness in lung adenocarcinoma with pulmonary enteric differentiation is unknown.Case presentationThis report describes a 66-year-old man who was initially diagnosed with metastatic lung adenocarcinoma with EGFR mutation based on pleural fluid. A lung biopsy was obtained after 17 months of first-line icotinib treatment. Histological analysis of biopsy samples and endoscopic examination resulted in a diagnosis of adenocarcinoma with enteric differentiation. Next-generation sequencing of 1,021 genes showed EGFR E19del, T790M, and MSI-H, while immunohistochemical assay showed proficient expression of mismatch repair (MMR) proteins. Consequently, the patient was treated with osimertinib and had a progression-free survival (PFS) of 3 months. His treatment was changed to chemotherapy with/without bevacizumab for 6.5 months. Then, the patient was treated with one cycle of camrelizumab monotherapy and camrelizumab plus chemotherapy, respectively. The tumor continued to grow, and the patient suffered pneumonia, pulmonary fungal infections, and increased hemoptysis. He received gefitinib and everolimus and died 2 months later and had an overall survival of 30 months.ConclusionIn summary, our case describes a rare pulmonary enteric adenocarcinoma with an EGFR-activating mutation and MSI-H, responding to an EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor and poorly benefiting from an immune checkpoint inhibitor

    Thalamocortical relationship in epileptic patients with generalized spike and wave discharges — A multimodal neuroimaging study

    AbstractUnlike focal or partial epilepsy, which has a confined range of influence, idiopathic generalized epilepsy (IGE) often affects the whole or a larger portion of the brain without obvious, known cause. It is important to understand the underlying network which generates epileptic activity and through which epileptic activity propagates. The aim of the present study was to investigate the thalamocortical relationship using non-invasive imaging modalities in a group of IGE patients. We specifically investigated the roles of the mediodorsal nuclei in the thalami and the medial frontal cortex in generating and spreading IGE activities. We hypothesized that the connectivity between these two structures is key in understanding the generation and propagation of epileptic activity in brains affected by IGE. Using three imaging techniques of EEG, fMRI and EEG-informed fMRI, we identified important players in generation and propagation of generalized spike-and-wave discharges (GSWDs). EEG-informed fMRI suggested multiple regions including the medial frontal area near to the anterior cingulate cortex, mediodorsal nuclei of the thalamus, caudate nucleus among others that related to the GSWDs. The subsequent seed-based fMRI analysis revealed a reciprocal cortical and bi-thalamic functional connection. Through EEG-based Granger Causality analysis using (DTF) and adaptive DTF, within the reciprocal thalamocortical circuitry, thalamus seems to serve as a stronger source in driving cortical activity from initiation to the propagation of a GSWD. Such connectivity change starts before the GSWDs and continues till the end of the slow wave discharge. Thalamus, especially the mediodorsal nuclei, may serve as potential targets for deep brain stimulation to provide more effective treatment options for patients with drug-resistant generalized epilepsy

    Spatial distribution and diversity of the heterotrophic flagellates in the Cosmonaut Sea, Antarctic

    As predators of bacteria and viruses and as food sources for microzooplankton, heterotrophic flagellates (HFs) play an important role in the marine micro-food web. Based on the global climate change’s impact on marine ecosystems, particularly sea ice melting, we analyzed the community composition and diversity of heterotrophic flagellates, focusing on the Antarctic Cosmonaut Sea. During the 36th China Antarctic research expedition (2019-2020), we collected seawater samples, subsequently analyzing HFs through IlluminaMiSeq2000 sequencing to assess community composition and diversity. Notable variations in HFs abundance were observed between the western and eastern sectors of the Cosmonaut Sea, with a distinct concentration at a 100-meter water depth. Different zones exhibited diverse indicators and dominants taxa influenced by local ocean currents. Both the northern Antarctic Peninsula and the western Cosmonaut Sea, where the Weddell Eddy and Antarctic Land Slope Current intersect, showcased marine stramenopiles as dominant HFs species. Our findings offer insights into dominant taxa, spatial distribution patterns among heterotrophic flagellates, correlations between taxa distribution and environmental factors, and the exploration of potential indicator taxa

    Bibliometric study of immunotherapy for hepatocellular carcinoma

    BackgroundHepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), recognized as a significant global health concern, ranks as the sixth most prevalent form of cancer and is the third leading cause of cancer-associated mortality. Over half of HCC patients are diagnosed at advanced stages, an unfortunate phenomenon primarily attributed to the liver’s robust compensatory mechanisms. Given the limited availability of donor livers, existing clinical surgical approaches have yet to provide universally applicable treatment strategies offering substantial prognostic improvement for late-stage cancer. Although the past few decades have witnessed significant advancements in chemotherapy and targeted therapy for HCC, the emergence of drug resistance poses a substantial impediment to their successful execution. Furthermore, issues such as diminished quality of life post-treatment and high treatment costs warrant critical attention. Consequently, the imperative for an effective treatment strategy for advanced liver cancer is unequivocal. In recent years, notable progress in the development and application of immunotherapy has sparked a revolution in advanced liver cancer treatment. This study aims to elucidate a more comprehensive understanding of the current landscape, knowledge framework, research focal points, and nascent breakthrough trends in the domain of immunotherapy for hepatocellular carcinoma via bibliometric analysis.MethodOur study involved conducting a comprehensive literature search spanning from 1999 through December 31, 2022, by utilizing the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-Expanded) database. Our aim was to amass all the papers and reviews related to immunotherapy for hepatocellular carcinoma. Our search strategy yielded a total of 4,486 papers. After exclusion of self-citations, we focused our analysis on 68,925 references. These references were cited 119,523 times (excluding 97,941 self-citations), boasting an average citation frequency of 26.64 times per paper, and achieved an h-index of 135. We employed analytical software tools like Citespace and VOSviewer to perform an intricate analysis of the amassed literature, covering various aspects, including geographical location, research institutions, publishing journals, authors, references, and keywords. Our method incorporated timeline analysis, burst detection, and co-occurrence analysis. The application of these tools facilitated a thorough evaluation of research hotspots, knowledge structure, and emerging advancements within the sphere of immunotherapy for hepatocellular carcinoma.ResultsOur bibliometric analysis disclosed a noteworthy escalation in the number of publications in the realm of hepatocellular carcinoma immunotherapy during the years 2021-2022, surpassing the aggregate number of papers published in the preceding decade (2011–2020). This surge underscores a sharp upturn in research interest within this field. Additionally, the research hotspot in hepatocellular carcinoma immunotherapy has perceptibly deviated from the preceding decade’s trends. In terms of geographical distribution, China emerged as the leading country, producing 50.08% of the total publications. This was followed by the United States, with 963 papers, and Japan, contributing 335 papers. Among research institutions, Sun Yat-sen University was the most prolific, while Tim F. Greten stood out as the most published author with 42 papers to his credit. A co-reference network examination uncovered a shift in research emphasis within the field of hepatocellular carcinoma immunotherapy, highlighting the evolving nature of this important area of studyConclusionOur bibliometric study highlights the significant evolution and growth in HCC immunotherapy research over the past two decades. Looking ahead, research will focus on improving the microenvironment post-drug resistance from immune combination therapy, harnessing adoptive cellular immunity (as CAR-T), subclassify the population and developing new tumor markers. Incorporation of technologies such as nanotechnology, microbiology, and gene editing will further advance HCC treatments. This progressive trajectory in the field promises a brighter future for individuals suffering from HCC
