Consumer Confidence, News and Consumption Stimulation
In the Chinese urban data, there is a stronger relationship between consumer behavior (measured by consumption income ratio or cy ratio) and consumer confidence (measured by Consumer Confidence Index or CCI), which implies expectation about the future plays an important role in domestic demand. In our paper, a structural VAR method (based on Beaudry&Portier 2006 AER) is employed to identify the news shock about three markets including housing, education and medical care. We also extract the components in CCI about news shocks for those three sectors. After that, we conduct regression on cy ratio against those components extracted from CCI, and find that the expectation on housing accounts more importance in consumption, education takes a second place and medical care has little effect.News Driven Expectation; Chinese Consumption Behavior; Structural VAR
Motivations of electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) sharing in the automotive customer’s journey with an analysis of consumer sentiment in Singapore
Given the high cost of owning a car, many dealerships in Singapore look toward enhancing the consumer experience to make themselves stand out and gain a competitive advantage. In order to improve a customer’s ownership journey, understanding the various pain points from the perspective of the customer is crucial, as this will affect the customer’s repurchase intention and the spread of Word-Of-Mouth (WOM) either to their friends or relatives or through online channels.
This study looks firstly into the stage in the ownership journey where customers share their sentiments and experiences and their reasons for sharing them. Next, the study will look into the motivation behind why customers share their experiences online from the feelings generated from goal congruence or incontinence. Lastly, a general sentiment analysis of four popular brands of cars in Singapore, namely Honda, Mazda, Toyota, and Volkswagen, will be presented.
A mixed-method research approach combining focus groups, which are a qualitative method that gathers primary data, and sentiment analysis, which is a quantitative method that gathers textual information posted by online users and uses algorithms to determine forum users’ subjective expressions and opinions, will be used in this study.
The results from the findings will highlight the importance of giving customers the best experience at the stage of the customer ownership journey where it may elicit the highest levels of motivation toward sharing positive or negative WOM and repurchase intention. Actionable steps for dealerships to improve and evaluate the consumer experience are also listed
Surface-wave solitons on the interface between a linear medium and a nonlocal nonlinear medium
We address the properties of surface-wave solitons on the interface between a
semi-infinite homogeneous linear medium and a semi-infinite homogeneous
nonlinear nonlocal medium. The stability, energy flow and FWHM of the surface
wave solitons can be affected by the degree of nonlocality of the nonlinear
medium. We find that the refractive index difference affects the power
distribution of the surface solitons in two media. We show that the different
boundary values at the interface can lead to the different peak position of the
surface solitons, but it can not influence the solitons stability with a
certain degree of nonlocality.Comment: 8 pages, 14 figures, 15 references, and so o
The hierarchy of higher order solutions of the derivative nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation
In this paper, we provide a simple method to generate higher order position
solutions and rogue wave solutions for the derivative nonlinear Schr\"odinger
equation. The formulae of these higher order solutions are given in terms of
determinants. The dynamics and structures of solutions generated by this method
are studied
Actively controlling the topological transition of dispersion based on electrically controllable metamaterials
Topological transition of the iso-frequency contour (IFC) from a closed
ellipsoid to an open hyperboloid, will provide unique capabilities for
controlling the propagation of light. However, the ability to actively tune
these effects remains elusive and the related experimental observations are
highly desirable. Here, tunable electric IFC in periodic structure which is
composed of graphene/dielectric multilayers is investigated by tuning the
chemical potential of graphene layer. Specially, we present the actively
controlled transportation in two kinds of anisotropic zero-index media
containing PEC/PMC impurities. At last, by adding variable capacitance diodes
into two-dimensional transmission-line system, we present the experimental
demonstration of the actively controlled magnetic topological transition of
dispersion based on electrically controllable metamaterials. With the increase
of voltage, we measure the different emission patterns from a point source
inside the structure and observe the phase-transition process of IFCs. The
realization of actively tuned topological transition will opens up a new avenue
in the dynamical control of metamaterials.Comment: 21 pages,8 figure
