spectroscopy using the modified Rovibrational model
Mass spectra of quarkonium systems can be described by different
phenomenological potentials. In the present work, the {\color{black}resonance}
states of heavy quarkonium like ( and ) are considered as
the rovibrational states. We study a parameterized rovibrational model derived
from the empirical solution of the nonrelativistic Schr\"{o}dinger equation
with Morse potential, the corrections are composed of colour hyperfine
interaction and spin-orbit interaction of mesons. We {\color{black}obtain} the
high excited state mass spectra of charmonium and bottomonium comparing the
results in reasonable agreement with the present experimental data.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figure
Two surgical treatment methods for open angle glaucoma and cataract
AIM: To compare the curative effects of two surgical treatment methods for open angle glaucoma and cataract patients.<p>METHODS: Totally 69 patients with primary open angle glaucoma and cataract were divided into two groups: group A and group B. Thirty-four patients(34 eyes)in group A underwent small incision non-phacoemulsification cataract surgery combined with trabeculectomy, just combined operations, 35 patients(35 eyes)in group B underwent small incision non-phacoemulsification cataract surgery beyond 6mo after trabeculectomy, just two stage operations. Postoperative intraocular pressure at 1wk and 3mo, postoperative corrected visual acuity and filtering bleb at 3mo were observed, and intraoperative and postoperative complications were compared. All the patients were followed up for 3-6mo.<p>RESULTS: All the visual acuity were increased compared with that before surgery in two groups, the difference was not statistically significant. All the intraocular pressure was controlled in two groups, the difference was not statistically significant, and the difference about the filtering bleb was neither statistically significant(<i>P</i>>0.05). There were no serious intraoperative and postoperative complications in two groups.<p>CONCLUSION: The two stage operations and the combined operations both can control theintraocular pressure and improved visual acuity of open angle glaucoma and cataract. The two stage operations may prevent a second operation for post trabeculectomy cataract, allowing earlier visual rehabilitation
Investigation of the interaction between indigotin and two serum albumins by spectroscopic approaches
AbstractThe binding characteristics of indigotin with human serum albumin (HSA) and bovine serum albumin (BSA) have been investigated by various spectroscopic techniques. Spectroscopic analysis revealed that the quenching mechanism between indigotin and HSA/BSA belonged to the static quenching. The displacement experiments suggested that indigotin primarily bound to tryptophan residues on proteins within site I. The thermodynamic parameters indicated that the binding of indigotin–HSA/BSA mainly depended on the hydrophobic interaction. The binding distance of indigotin to HSA/BSA was evaluated. The results by synchronous fluorescence, three-dimensional fluorescence, Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and circular dichroism (CD) spectra showed that the conformation of proteins altered in the presence of indigotin
Fully packed quantum loop model on the square lattice: phase diagram and application for Rydberg atoms
The quantum dimer and loop models attract great attentions, partially because
the fundamental importance in the novel phases and phase transitions emerging
in these prototypical constrained systems; and partially due to their intimate
relevance towards the on-going experiments on Rydberg atom arrays in which the
blockade mechanism naturally enforces the local constraint. Here we show, by
means of the sweeping cluster quantum Monte Carlo method, the complete ground
state phase diagram of the fully packed quantum loop model on the square
lattice. We find between the lattice nematic (LN) phase with strong dimer
attraction and the staggered phase (SP) with strong dimer repulsion, there
emerges a resonating plaquette (RP) phase with off-diagonal translational
symmetry breaking. Such a novel phase is separated from the LN via a first
order transition and from the SP by the famous Rokhsar-Kivelson point. Our
renormalization group analysis reveals the different flow directions, fully
consistent with the order parameter histogram in Monte Carlo simulations. The
realization and implication of our phase diagram in Rydberg experiments are
proposed.Comment: 6+2 pages, 5+2 figure

Genetic polymorphism in the manganese superoxide dismutase gene, antioxidant intake, and breast cancer risk: results from the Shanghai Breast Cancer Study
INTRODUCTION: It has been suggested that oxidative stress and mitochondrial DNA damage play important roles in breast cancer carcinogenesis. Manganese superoxide dismutase (MnSOD) is a major enzyme that is responsible for the detoxification of reactive oxygen species in the mitochondria. A T → C substitution in the MnSOD gene results in a Val → Ala change at the -9 position of the mitochondrial targeting sequence (Val-9Ala), which alters the protein secondary structure and thus affects transport of MnSOD into the mitochondria. METHODS: We evaluated this genetic polymorphism in association with breast cancer risk using data from the Shanghai Breast Cancer Study, a population-based case–control study conducted in urban Shanghai from 1996 to 1998. The MnSOD Val-9Ala polymorphism was examined in 1125 breast cancer cases and 1197 age-frequency-matched control individual. RESULTS: Breast cancer risk was slightly elevated in women with Ala/Ala genotype (odds ratio [OR] 1.3, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.7–2.3), particularly among premenopausal women (OR 1.8, 95% CI 0.9–3.7), as compared with those with Val/Val genotype. The increased risk with the Ala/Ala genotype was stronger among premenopausal women with a higher body mass index (OR 2.5, 95% CI 0.9–7.0) and more years of menstruation (OR 2.6, 95% CI 0.8–8.0). The risk among premenopausal women was further increased twofold to threefold among those with a low intake of fruits, vegetables, vitamin supplements, selenium, or antioxidant vitamins, including carotenes and vitamins A, C, and E. However, the frequency of the Ala allele was low (14%) in the study population, and most of the ORs provided above were not statistically significant. CONCLUSION: The present study provides some evidence that genetic polymorphism in the MnSOD gene may be associated with increased risk of breast cancer among Chinese women with high levels of oxidative stress or low intake of antioxidants. Studies with a larger sample size are needed to confirm the findings
Joint Optimization of Ranking and Calibration with Contextualized Hybrid Model
Despite the development of ranking optimization techniques, pointwise loss
remains the dominating approach for click-through rate prediction. It can be
attributed to the calibration ability of the pointwise loss since the
prediction can be viewed as the click probability. In practice, a CTR
prediction model is also commonly assessed with the ranking ability. To
optimize the ranking ability, ranking loss (e.g., pairwise or listwise loss)
can be adopted as they usually achieve better rankings than pointwise loss.
Previous studies have experimented with a direct combination of the two losses
to obtain the benefit from both losses and observed an improved performance.
However, previous studies break the meaning of output logit as the
click-through rate, which may lead to sub-optimal solutions. To address this
issue, we propose an approach that can Jointly optimize the Ranking and
Calibration abilities (JRC for short). JRC improves the ranking ability by
contrasting the logit value for the sample with different labels and constrains
the predicted probability to be a function of the logit subtraction. We further
show that JRC consolidates the interpretation of logits, where the logits model
the joint distribution. With such an interpretation, we prove that JRC
approximately optimizes the contextualized hybrid discriminative-generative
objective. Experiments on public and industrial datasets and online A/B testing
show that our approach improves both ranking and calibration abilities. Since
May 2022, JRC has been deployed on the display advertising platform of Alibaba
and has obtained significant performance improvements.Comment: Accepted at KDD 202
