Analysis of the Quintessence of Zhu Kezhen’s Higher Education Ideas
Zhu Kezhen is China’s great modern scientist and educationist. His Ideas of higher education formed during his charge of Zhejiang University, has identified a paradigm for the creation and development of China’s modern higher education. The quintessences of his Ideas of higher education consist of the spirit of university, the soul of university, the mission of university, the development of university, functions of university and the management of university. Through the deep analysis of his ideas of higher education, it has important realistic enlightenment for the cultivation of the present university spirit, the reformation of talents training pattern and the building of faculties of university and so on
Irrepressible Images: New Films in China from 1995
Jia Zhangke, who had long accompanied his activities as a film-maker with theoretical reflections in the form of short articles, recently published a collection of his selected writings entitled Jia Xiang. Jia Zhangke dianying shouji 1996-2008. Pai dianying shi wo jiejin ziyou de fangshi, Beijing, Peking University Press, 2009 (Jia’s thoughts. Jia Zhangke’s film notes 1996-2008. Making films is my way of approaching freedom). Bringing together many important texts, this publication marks a retrospective moment in his work. Three essays have been selected for translation in this issue: “Irrepressible Images,” written in 2002, but which is also a reworking of two seminal essays published in 1998, “The Age of amateur cinema is about to return” and “Now that we have VCDs and digital video cameras.” The article sets out Jia Zhangke’s view of how independent film in China developed since the early 1990s. It is followed by one essay on Jia’s documentary In Public, dealing more specifically with space as an inspiration for film. Also in 2009, to accompany his latest film, 24 City, Jia published a collection of the interviews on which the film is based, entitled: Zhongguo gongren fangtan lu. Ershisi cheng ji(Interviews with Chinese workers. 24 City). A Collective memory of Chinese Working class, Jinan, Shandong huabao chubanshe. Anisotropic Interfacial Force Field for Interfaces of Water with Hexagonal Boron Nitride
This study introduces an anisotropic interfacial potential that provides an
accurate description of the van der Waals (vdW) interactions between water and
hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) at their interface. Benchmarked against the
strongly constrained and appropriately normed (SCAN) functional, the developed
force field demonstrates remarkable consistency with reference data sets,
including binding energy curves and sliding potential energy surfaces for
various configurations involving a water molecule adsorbed atop the h-BN
surface. These findings highlight the significant improvement achieved by the
developed force field in empirically describing the anisotropic vdW
interactions of the water/h-BN heterointerfaces. Utilizing this anisotropic
force field, molecular dynamics simulations demonstrate that atomically-flat
pristine h-BN exhibits inherent hydrophobicity. However, when atomic-step
surface roughness is introduced, the wettability of h-BN undergoes a
significant change, leading to a hydrophilic nature. The calculated water
contact angle (WCA) for the roughened h-BN surface is approximately 64{\deg},
which closely aligns with experimental WCA values ranging from 52{\deg} to
67{\deg}. These findings indicate the high probability of the presence of
atomic steps on the surfaces of experimental h-BN samples, emphasizing the need
for further experimental verification. The development of the anisotropic
interfacial force field for accurately describing interactions at the
water/h-BN heterointerfaces is a significant advancement in accurately
simulating the wettability of two-dimensional (2D) materials, offering a
reliable tool for studying the dynamic and transport properties of water at
these interfaces, with implications for materials science and nanotechnology.Comment: 22 pages, 5 figure
