    Drinfeld Twists and Algebraic Bethe Ansatz of the Supersymmetric t-J Model

    We construct the Drinfeld twists (factorizing FF-matrices) for the supersymmetric t-J model. Working in the basis provided by the FF-matrix (i.e. the so-called FF-basis), we obtain completely symmetric representations of the monodromy matrix and the pseudo-particle creation operators of the model. These enable us to resolve the hierarchy of the nested Bethe vectors for the gl(2∣1)gl(2|1) invariant t-J model.Comment: 23 pages, no figure, Latex file, minor misprints are correcte

    Overexpression of an activated REL mutant enhances the transformed state of the human B-lymphoma BJAB cell line and alters its gene expression profile

    The human REL proto-oncogene encodes a transcription factor in the nuclear factor (NF)-kappaB family. Overexpression of REL is acutely transforming in chicken lymphoid cells, but has not been shown to transform any mammalian lymphoid cell type. In this report, we show that overexpression of a highly transforming mutant of REL (RELDeltaTAD1) increases the oncogenic properties of the human B-cell lymphoma BJAB cell line, as shown by increased colony formation in soft agar, tumor formation in SCID (severe combined immunodeficient) mice, and adhesion. BJAB-RELDeltaTAD1 cells also show decreased activation of caspase in response to doxorubicin. BJAB-RELDeltaTAD1 cells have increased levels of active nuclear REL protein as determined by immunofluorescence, subcellular fractionation and electrophoretic mobility shift assay. Overexpression of RELDeltaTAD1 in BJAB cells has transformed the gene expression profile of BJAB cells from that of a germinal center B-cell subtype of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) (GCB-DLBCL) to that of an activated B-cell subtype (ABC-DLBCL), as evidenced by increased expression of many ABC-defining mRNAs. Upregulated genes in BJAB-RELDeltaTAD1 cells include several NF-kappaB targets that encode proteins previously implicated in B-cell development or oncogenesis, including BCL2, IRF4, CD40 and VCAM1.     On-Line Dependability Enhancement of Multiprocessor SoCs by Resource Management

    This paper describes a new approach towards dependable design of homogeneous multi-processor SoCs in an example satellite-navigation application. First, the NoC dependability is functionally verified via embedded software. Then the Xentium processor tiles are periodically verified via on-line self-testing techniques, by using a new IIP Dependability Manager. Based on the Dependability Manager results, faulty tiles are electronically excluded and replaced by fault-free spare tiles via on-line resource management. This integrated approach enables fast electronic fault detection/diagnosis and repair, and hence a high system availability. The dependability application runs in parallel with the actual application, resulting in a very dependable system. All parts have been verified by simulation

    Explicit expressions for the generators of the quantum superalgebra Uq[gl(n/m)]U_q[gl(n/m)] acting on a class of irreducible representations are given. The class under consideration consists of all essentially typical representations: for these a Gel'fand-Zetlin basis is known.     Selection rules for J^PC Exotic Hybrid Meson Decay in Large-N_c

    The coupling of a neutral hybrid {1,3,5...}^-+ exotic particle (or current) to two neutral (hybrid) meson particles with the same J^PC and J=0 is proved to be sub-leading to the usual large-N_c QCD counting. The coupling of the same exotic particle to certain two - (hybrid) meson currents with the same J^PC and J=0 is also sub-leading. The decay of a {1,3,5...}^-+ hybrid to eta pi^0, eta' pi^0, eta' eta, eta(1295) pi^0, pi(1300)^0 pi0, eta(1440) pi^0, a_0(980)^0 sigma or f_0(980) sigma is sub-leading, assuming that these final state particles are (hybrid) mesons in the limit of large N_c.Comment: 16 pages, LaTeX.     Studies of the reactive ion etching of silicon-germanium alloys

    Reactive-ion etching (RIE) of epitaxial, strained Si1-xGex alloys, x=0.20, in fluorine-chlorine-, and bromine-based low-pressure plasmas has been investigated. The reactive-ion etch rates of the Si1-xGex alloys increase with the Ge content of the alloy for most etching gases. This effect is most pronounced for fluorine (CF4 and SF6) plasmas where the etch rate of a Si80Ge20 alloy is increased by a factor of Âż2 over that of Si. The etch rate enhancement is of reduced importance for chlorine (CF2Cl2) and bromine (HBr) plasmas, where the etch rate increases by less than 50% for a Si80Ge20 alloy relative to that of elemental Si. Analysis shows that the etch rate increase is not accounted for by the greater rate of gasification of Ge atoms alone but that the presence of Ge atoms in the SiGe alloy increases the Si etch product formation rate. Directional SiGe profiles are observed for CF2Cl2 and HBr plasmas which are identical to those obtained with Si. After etching in CF4 or SF6 plasmas the Ge surface concentration of the SiGe alloy is increased relative to its bulk value and both fluorinated Si and Ge are observed by in situ x-ray photoemission spectroscopy. On the other hand, for CF2Cl2 and HBr plasmas the SiGe surface is Si rich.     Blood-based biomarkers for detecting mild osteoarthritis in the human knee

    SummaryObjectiveThis study was designed to test the utility of a blood-based approach to identify mild osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee.MethodsBlood samples were drawn from 161 subjects, including 85 subjects with arthroscopically diagnosed mild OA of the knee and 76 controls. Following RNA isolation, an in-house custom cDNA microarray was used to screen for differentially expressed genes. A subset of selected genes was then tested using real-time RT-PCR. Logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate linear combinations of the biomarkers and receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was used to assess the discriminatory power of the combinations.ResultsGenes differentially expressed (3543 genes) between mild knee OA and control samples were identified through microarray analysis. Subsequent real-time RT-PCR verification identified six genes significantly down-regulated in mild OA: heat shock 90kDa protein 1, alpha; inhibitor of kappa light polypeptide gene enhancer in B-cells, kinase complex-associated protein; interleukin 13 receptor, alpha 1; laminin, gamma 1; platelet factor 4 (also known as chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 4) and tumor necrosis factor, alpha-induced protein 6. Logistic regression analysis identified linear combinations of nine genes – the above six genes, early growth response 1; alpha glucosidase II alpha subunit; and v-maf musculoaponeurotic fibrosarcoma oncogene homolog B (avian) – as discriminatory between subjects with mild OA and controls, with a sensitivity of 86% and specificity of 83% in a training set of 78 samples. The optimal biomarker combinations were then evaluated using a blind test set (67 subjects) which showed 72% sensitivity and 66% specificity.ConclusionsLinear combinations of blood RNA biomarkers offer a substantial improvement over currently available diagnostic tools for mild OA. Blood-derived RNA biomarkers may be of significant clinical value for the diagnosis of early, asymptomatic OA of the knee

    Drinfeld twist and symmetric Bethe vectors of the open XYZ chain with non-diagonal boundary terms

    With the help of the Drinfeld twist or factorizing F-matrix for the eight-vertex solid-on-solid (SOS) model, we find that in the F-basis provided by the twist the two sets of pseudo-particle creation operators simultaneously take completely symmetric and polarization free form. This allows us to obtain the explicit and completely symmetric expressions of the two sets of Bethe states of the model.Comment: Latex file, 25 page
