Decomposition of SU(N) connection and Effective Theory of SU(N) QCD

We give a general decomposition of SU(N) connection and derive a generalized Skyrme-Faddeev action as the effective action of SU(N) QCD in the low energy limit. The result is obtained by separating the topological degrees which describes the non-Abelian monopoles from the dynamical degree of gauge potential, and integrating all the dynamical degrees of SU(N) QCD.Comment: retex, 7 page

Threshold Resummation Effects in Neutral Higgs Boson Production by Bottom Quark Fusion at the CERN Large Hadron Collider

We investigate the QCD effects in the production of neutral Higgs bosons via bottom quark fusion in both the standard model and the minimal supersymmetric standard model at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. We include the next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD corrections (including supersymmetric QCD) and the threshold resummation effects. We use the soft-collinear effective theory to resum the large logarithms near threshold from soft gluon emission. Our results show that the resummation effects can enhance the total cross sections by about 5% compared with the NLO results.Comment: 29pages, 14 figures, version to appear in Physical Review

Search for anomalous top quark production at the early LHC

We present a detailed study of the anomalous top quark production with subsequent decay at the LHC induced by model-independent flavor-changing neutral-current couplings, incorporating the complete next-to-leading order QCD effects. Our results show that, taking into account the current limits from the Tevatron, the LHC with s=7\sqrt{s}=7 TeV may discover the anomalous coupling at 5σ\sigma level for a very low integrated luminosity of 61 pb−1^{-1}. The discovery potentials for the anomalous couplings at the LHC are examined in detail. We also discuss the possibility of using the charge ratio to distinguish the tugtug and tcgtcg couplings.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, version appears in Phys. Rev. Let
