Three-component multiplicity distribution, oscillation of combinants and properties of clans in collisions at the LHC
Multiplicity distributions of charged particles measured by the ATLAS
Collaboration in proton-proton collisions at and 13 TeV are
analyzed in the framework of a weighted superposition of three negative
binomial distribution functions. The examination of the experimental data
confirms the existence of a narrow peak at low multiplicities found earlier at
and 7 TeV. The peak is described by the third separate component
of the total distribution. The energy dependence of the multiplicity
characteristics of the three-component scenario is studied. It is demonstrated
that the third multiplicity component might be responsible for oscillations of
combinants observed lately in the analysis of the multiplicity distributions
measured in proton-proton collisions at the LHC. Some consequences of the
three-component description of the data for the clan parameters are analyzed.Comment: 24 pages, 21 figure
On saturation of charged hadron production in pp collisions at LHC
First results on charged hadron transverse momentum spectra in pp collisions
obtained by the CMS Collaboration at LHC were analyzed in z-scaling approach.
The first LHC data confirm z-scaling. The saturation regime of the scaling
function psi(z) observed in pp and antp-pp interactions at lower energy sqrt s
= 19-1960 GeV is verified. The saturation of psi(z) for charged hadrons is
found down to z=0.05 at the highest energy sqrt s = 2360 GeV reached till now
at colliders. A microscopic scenario of hadron production is discussed in
connection with search for new signatures of phase transitions in hadron
matter. Constituent energy loss and its dependencies on the transverse momentum
of charged hadrons and collision energy are estimated. The beam energy scan at
LHC in the saturation region is suggested.Comment: LaTeX, 6 pages, 6 figure
Top-Quark p T
New results of analysis of top-quark differential cross sections obtained by the CMS and ATLAS Collaborations in pp collisions at the LHC in the framework of z-scaling approach are presented. The spectra are measured over a wide range of collision energy √s = 7, 8, 13 TeV and transverse momentum pT = 30−1000 GeV/c of top-quark using leptonic and jet decay modes. The LHC data on transverse momentum of the top-quark spectra are compared with the Tevatron data obtained by the D∅ Collaboration in pp̅ collisions at√s = 1.96 GeV. Flavour independence of the scaling function ψ(z) in pp and pp̅ interactions over a wide collision energy range√s = 19 − 13000 GeV is verified. This property of ψ(z) was found for different hadrons from π-meson up to ϒ particle. The flavour independence of ψ(z) is used as indication on self-similarity of top-quark production. A tendency to saturation of ψ(z) at low z for top-quark is demonstrated. We anticipate that data on low- and high-pT inclusive spectra of top-quark production at LHC energies could be of interest for verification of the self-similarity over a wide range of masses and different flavour content of produced particles
Azimuthal anisotropy and correlations in the hard scattering regime at RHIC
Azimuthal anisotropy () and two-particle angular correlations of high
charged hadrons have been measured in Au+Au collisions at
=130 GeV for transverse momenta up to 6 GeV/c, where hard
processes are expected to contribute significantly. The two-particle angular
correlations exhibit elliptic flow and a structure suggestive of fragmentation
of high partons. The monotonic rise of for GeV/c is
consistent with collective hydrodynamical flow calculations. At \pT>3 GeV/c a
saturation of is observed which persists up to GeV/c.Comment: As publishe
Azimuthal anisotropy of K0s and Lambda prduction at mid-rapidity from Au+Au collisions at root s = 130 GeV
We report STAR results on the azimuthal anisotropy parameter v2 for strange
particles K0S, L and Lbar at midrapidity in Au+Au collisions at sNN = 130 GeV
at RHIC. The value of v2 as a function of transverse momentum of the produced
particles pt and collision centrality is presented for both particles up to pt
3.0 GeV/c. A strong pt dependence in v2 is observed up to 2.0 GeV/c. The v2
measurement is compared with hydrodynamic model calculations. The physics
implications of the pt integrated v2 magnitude as a function of particle mass
are also discussed.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures, by the STAR collaboratio
Disappearance of back-to-back high hadron correlations in central Au+Au collisions at = 200 GeV
Azimuthal correlations for large transverse momentum charged hadrons have
been measured over a wide pseudo-rapidity range and full azimuth in Au+Au and
p+p collisions at = 200 GeV. The small-angle correlations
observed in p+p collisions and at all centralities of Au+Au collisions are
characteristic of hard-scattering processes already observed in elementary
collisions. A strong back-to-back correlation exists for p+p and peripheral Au
+ Au. In contrast, the back-to-back correlations are reduced considerably in
the most central Au+Au collisions, indicating substantial interaction as the
hard-scattered partons or their fragmentation products traverse the medium.Comment: submitted to Phys. Rev. Let
Azimuthal anisotropy of K0S and Lambda + Lambda -bar production at midrapidity from Au+Au collisions at sqrt[sNN]=130 GeV
We report STAR results on the azimuthal anisotropy parameter v2 for strange particles K0S, Lambda , and Lambda -bar at midrapidity in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[sNN]=130 GeV at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The value of v2 as a function of transverse momentum, pt, of the produced particle and collision centrality is presented for both particles up to pt~3.0 GeV/c. A strong pt dependence in v2 is observed up to 2.0 GeV/c. The v2 measurement is compared with hydrodynamic model calculations. The physics implications of the pt integrated v2 magnitude as a function of particle mass are also discussed.Alle Autoren: C. Adler, Z. Ahammed, C. Allgower, J. Amonett, B. D. Anderson, M.
