Listing of watershed management goals/targets is one of the integral parts of the management plan for a watershed. In this paper, we have listed 18 watershed management targets for which the Malaysian watersheds could possibly be managed in future. Based on the listed watershed management targets, the priority ranking of 18 targets is developed from the relative importance weights obtained from a survey conducted from 29 stakeholders. Three weighting methods (SWING, SMART, and SMARTER) were applied to elicit weights. We found that the SMART (Simple Multi-Attribute Rating Technique) weighting method was a favorable method for eliciting stable sets of weights for the watershed management targets. The SWING weighting method produces better weights than the SMARTER method. The listed watershed management targets will assist watershed managers and decision makers in decision making to use available resources (e.g. water quality, land-use, groundwater, and many other resources) in a more efficient and sustainable manner. The efficient utilization of all resources within a watershed will ultimately save watersheds (more specifically the urbanized watersheds) from further deterioration caused by unchecked infrastructure development activities.Okre艣lenie cel贸w zarz膮dzania zlewni膮 jest jedn膮 z integralnych cz臋艣ci planu zarz膮dzania. W prezentowanej pracy ustalono 18 cel贸w, do kt贸rych w przysz艂o艣ci zmierza膰 b臋dzie zarz膮dzanie zlewniami Malezji. Na podstawie tych cel贸w ustalono ranking priorytet贸w, stosuj膮c wagi wzgl臋dnego znaczenia uzyskane w wyniku ankietowania 29 udzia艂owc贸w. Dla uzyskania wag zastosowano trzy metody wa偶enia (SWING, SMART i SMARTER). Stwierdzono, 偶e metoda SMART (Simple Multi-Attribute Rating Technique) by艂a przydatna do ustalenia zestawu wag dla poszczeg贸lnych cel贸w zarz膮dzania zlewni膮. Wagi ustalone metod膮 SWING by艂y bardziej przydatne ni偶 ustalone metod膮 SMARTER. Uporz膮dkowana lista cel贸w zarz膮dzania b臋dzie pomocna zarz膮dcom i decydentom w podejmowaniu decyzji o wykorzystaniu dost臋pnych zasob贸w (jako艣膰 wody, u偶ytkowanie ziemi, w贸d podziemnych i innych) w spos贸b bardziej efektywny i zr贸wnowa偶ony.

Systematic Analysis of Risks in Industry 5.0 Architecture

    No full text
Industry 4.0, which was proposed ten years ago to address both the industry鈥檚 strengths and faults, has finally been replaced by Industry 5.0. It seeks to put human welfare at the core of manufacturing systems, achieving societal goals beyond employment and growth to firmly provide wealth for the long-term advancement of all of humanity. The purpose of this research is to examine the risks involved in the adoption of Industry 5.0鈥檚 architecture. The paper discusses the significance of Industry 5.0 and the advanced technology needed for this industrial revolution, followed by a detailed discussion of Industry 5.0鈥檚 human-centric strategy. The comprehensive literature review has resulted in the identification of risks and their mitigation strategies in Industry 5.0 architecture. A taxonomy with respect to different categories of risks has also been proposed. This study classifies Industry 5.0 system assets, identifies platform-independent risks, and develops countermeasures to protect against potential threats, irrespective of the business or domain

Identification of vulnerable areas to floods in Kelantan River sub-basins by using flood vulnerability index

    No full text
Flood vulnerability indices for the Kelantan River sub-basins were developed from various flood-related variables. The vulnerability indices of the Kelantan River sub-basins involved flood depth-inundation area, soil erosion potential, and potential of soil for agricultural use, population vulnerability, road infrastructure vulnerability and market infrastructure vulnerability. These indices were developed from the use of Geographic Information System (GIS) technique. The result indicates that the flood vulnerability indices of sub-basins were mostly ranked high in the areas with high concentration of development activities and densely populated region with large infrastructure existence that are more flood-prone group than others especially in major metropolitan areas. In order to steer against probable damage caused by flood, it remains important to develop a tool that is most beneficial for river basin managers and policy makers, so that they can conduct vulnerability assessment and flood risk in term of human lives losses and property damages during future massive floods. The output of this study can guide decision makers to reduce flood risks Kelantan River basin in future

Trade-off-based adoption methodology for cloud-based infrastructures and services

Adoption and consequent management of cloud-based infrastructures and services is driven by business requirements and objectives within an organization. The decision of either to move from a legacy system to a cloud-based system or to move from one cloud solution to another is based on various factors. A potential customer, therefore, should evaluate (a) relevant factors affecting the adoption of a cloud and (b) impacts cloud services will have on multi-faceted objectives of an organization. Existing methods for such an adoption process do not evaluate these two aspects for the decision of cloud adoption. Thus, this paper fills this gap by introducing a new Trade-off-based Adoption methodology for Cloud-based Infrastructures and Services (TrAdeCIS), which is based on the impact cloud-based services will have on the organization. This methodology developed will support organizations in decisions concerning (a) the selection of cloud service provider, (b) the type of cloud service to be adopted, and (c) the suitable type of cloud to be adopted. TrAdeCIS is illustrated based on a survey conducted with 10 organizations, who have adopted or plan to adopt cloud-based solution to fulfil their advanced IT requirements
