Large Deviations for Statistics of Jacobi Process

In this paper, we derive a handable expression for the Jacobi process semi group which is given by a bilinear series involving Jacobi polynomials. Our attempt uses a subordination of the considered process by means of a suitable random change. Once we did, we will be able, in the ultraspheric case, to derive a LDP for a family of estimators based on a single trajectory of the process

Authority file. Tre casi a confronto: contenuti e impostazioni nel Servizio Bibliotecario Nazionale, Bibliothèque Nationale de France, Library of Congress

La centralità del catalogo in una biblioteca e della sua funzione di raggruppamento (mostrare quali documenti posseduti dalla biblioteca abbiano caratteristiche comuni) è inseparabile da un'indispensabile azione di controllo sull’uniformità, univocità e correttezza dei punti di accesso: il catalogo infatti può fornire risposte soddisfacenti ma, in assenza di authority control, non offre garanzie di esaustività e di correttezza. L’attività dell’authority control dà quindi vita, tramite authority record, ad intestazioni stabili che, nel loro complesso - insieme ai legami tra forme riconosciute e forme varianti ed ai dati relativi alle regole catalografiche seguite ed alle fonti utilizzate - formano l’authority file, oggetto di questo lavoro. Il primo capitolo cercherà di chiarire la storia e l’evoluzione del concetto di authority file, dei principi e degli standard a cui fa riferimento; si concluderà quindi con un accenno sulle problematiche ancora aperte. Nella seconda parte si analizzerà l’applicazione dell’authority file nella pratica catalografica di tre importanti istituzioni bibliotecarie: sono stati studiati il Servizio Bibliotecario Nazionale italiano e due esempi stranieri quali il “Library of Congress Authorities” e "Autorités BnF" e "RAMEAU" della Bibliothèque National de France; per ognuno di essi viene fatta una breve introduzione storica e successivamente presi in esame strutturazione e contenuti dell’archivio in generale e delle schede di autorità in particolare (tipologie di informazioni scelte, campi utilizzati, funzionalità di output, etc.). La parte conclusiva opera un confronto tra i casi prescelti per capirne analogie, differenze, eventuali rispondenze a particolari orientamenti teorici

Reach-To-Grasp Movements: A Multimodal Techniques Study

The aim of the present study was to investigate the correlation between corticospinal activity, kinematics, and electromyography (EMG) associated with the execution of precision and whole-hand grasps (WHGs). To this end, motor-evoked potentials (MEPs) induced by transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), EMG, and 3-D motion capture data have been simultaneously recorded during the planning and the execution of prehensile actions toward either a small or a large object. Differences in the considered measures were expected to distinguish between the two types of grasping actions both in terms of action preparation and execution. The results indicate that the index finger (FDI) and the little finger (ADM) muscles showed different activation patterns during grasping execution, but only the FDI appeared to distinguish between the two types of actions during motor preparation. Kinematics analysis showed that precision grips differed from WHGs in terms of displayed fingers distance when shaping before object\u2019s contact, and in terms of timing and velocity patterns. Moreover, significant correlations suggest a relationship between the muscular activation and the temporal aspects concerned with the index finger\u2019s extension during whole-hand actions. Overall, the present data seem to suggest a crucial role played by index finger as an early \u201cmarker\u201d of differential motor preparation for different types of grasps and as a \u201cnavigator\u201d in guiding whole-hand prehensile actions. Aside from the novelty of the methodological approach characterizing the present study, the data provide new insights regarding the level of crosstalk among different levels concerned with the neuro-behavioral organization of reach-to-grasp movements
