Photoconduction and photocontrolled collective effects in the Peierls conductor TaS3_3

Light illumination of thin crystals of CDW conductor TaS3_3 is found to result in dramatic changes of both linear (GG) and nonlinear conduction. The increase of GG is accompanied by suppression of the collective conduction, growth of the threshold field ETE_T, and appearance of the switching and hysteretic behavior in the nonlinear conduction. The effects in the nonlinear conduction are associated with increase of CDW elasticity due to illumination that leads in particular to appearance of a relation ETG1/3E_T\propto G^{1/3} expected for the one-dimensional pinning.Comment: RevTeX4, 4 pages, 4 postscript figures. One-dimensional conduction in Charge-Density Wave nanowires

We report a systematic study of the transport properties of coupled one-dimensional metallic chains as a function of the number of parallel chains. When the number of parallel chains is less than 2000, the transport properties show power-law behavior on temperature and voltage, characteristic for one-dimensional systems.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figures, submitted to Phys. Collective Dynamics of One-Dimensional Charge Density Waves

The effect of disorder on the static and dynamic behaviour of one-dimensional charge density waves at low temperatures is studied by analytical and numerical approaches. In the low temperature region the spatial behaviour of the phase-phase correlation function is dominated by disorder but the roughness exponent remains the same as in the pure case. Contrary to high dimensional systems the dependence of the creep velocity on the electric field is described by an analytic function.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
