    The Factors in Development of Health Tourism in Iran

    Introduction: Health tourism refers to any type of travelling seeking improvement of health condition. It can be treated like a national strategy toward increase of national income. The present study is an attempt to survey the factors in development of health tourism in Iran. Methods: The study is an analytical research and data used in the study were gleaned through library resources and academic site web. In addition consultation with experts was also added. Using snowball sampling 61 of the authorities of health tourism answered the questionnaire. Finally the results were analyzed using Friedman test. Results: The findings showed that 3 main factors in development of health tourism of Iran are health tourism branding, correlation between different sections, and centralized services. Conclusion: To have all its potentials of nurse health care realized, and to meet the goals of Iran 1404 outlook program, a comprehensive and executive planning must be adopted and other requirement to emerge as a leading country in the region regarding the industry must be provided

    Relationship between Health Care Organization Management Standards of the Joint Commission International and Health Tourism in Selected Hospitals in Tehran

    Introduction: Health tourism is an organized travel we make from where we live to another place to keep, regain, and improve physical and mental health. It can be also a national strategy to improve national income and some believe that it can be an integral part of national security. The present study is an attempt to determine the relationship between observance of the standards of international Joint Commission regarding structural-centered fields and number of health tourists attracted to a country. Methods: The study is a descriptive-analytical work of applied type, which was conducted as cross-sectional work in 2012 on some of Tehran-based hospitals. Sampling was carried out randomly and for data gathering the standard checklist of the commission was employed. The tool covered six Health Care Organization Management Standards. Reliability and validity of the checklist have been ascertained by previous works. Data was collected through observing, interviewing, and document reviewing. For data analyses, descriptive and deductive statistics were used in SPSS16. Results: Observance of the standard regarding its different aspects is not equal as regarding infection prevention and control (3.48) we found highest mean point and the lowest position was obtained by improvement of quality and patients’ safety (2.52). A relatively positive correlation (r=0.114) was observed between observance of the standards of the commission and attracting health tourists. Conclusion: Given the results obtained, it is notable that the development and implementation of an accreditation system for health services centers nationwide, which is aimed to improve quality of health services in light of the standards of International Joint Commission is helpful in attracting more health tourists. </span

    A COMPARISON OF MANAGEMENT PROCESSES IN EDUCATIONAL HOSPITALS LOCATED IN ISFAHAN, IRAN

    Hospitals are service organizations and act as the main health and treatment institutes in the society. To achieve organizational goals, hospitals need to implement a proper management system. The present study tries to compare management processes in educational hospitals located in Isfahan, Iran between 2009 and 2012. Study population of this descriptive-survey research was comprised of all nursing managers in the educational –treatment clinics affiliated with Isfahan Medical Science University. Sample (n = 165) was selected through census sampling. A standard questionnaire based on Stoner’s model (1995) was used for data gathering. Validity of the questionnaire was tested using face and content validity and reliability of the questionnaire was checked by Cronbach’s alpha (α = 0.85). For data analyzing, descriptive statistics and inferential statistics such as independent t-test ANOVA, MUANOVA and LSD were used in SPSS (ver.18). In 2009, the t-value for all the managerial processes were less than error level (0.05) in 2012 and, therefore, the four managerial processes were lower than the mean level. Comparison of managerial processes in the educational hospitals located in Isfahan based on demographical variables showed that obtained F for 2012 was significant (P≤0.05). Furthermore, means of programming, leadership, and control processes of the participant hospitals, based on education degree, were different. Proper management is the key to meet the organizational goals and surveying managerial processes can be a large step to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the organization
