Cluster synchronization of diffusively-coupled nonlinear systems: A contraction based approach

Finding the conditions that foster synchronization in networked oscillatory systems is critical to understanding a wide range of biological and mechanical systems. However, the conditions proved in the literature for synchronization in nonlinear systems with linear coupling, such as has been used to model neuronal networks, are in general not strict enough to accurately determine the system behavior. We leverage contraction theory to derive new sufficient conditions for cluster synchronization in terms of the network structure, for a network where the intrinsic nonlinear dynamics of each node may differ. Our result requires that network connections satisfy a cluster-input-equivalence condition, and we explore the influence of this requirement on network dynamics. For application to networks of nodes with neuronal spiking dynamics, we show that our new sufficient condition is tighter than those found in previous analyses which used nonsmooth Lyapunov functions. Improving the analytical conditions for when cluster synchronization will occur based on network configuration is a significant step toward facilitating understanding and control of complex oscillatory systems

This research is about “the impact of leadershipstyle on organization commitment mediating by job satisfaction and trust on employed at banksectors”. The background of this research is to know the impact of leadership style on organizationcommitment. The purpose of this research is to examine the impact of leadership style onorganization commitment mediating by job satisfaction and trust. The research is using primarydata by spreading questionnaires to 250 employes of banking sectors in DKI Jakarta, such as:Bank Mandiri, Bank Negara Indonesia, Bank Jabar, Bank Bukopin and Bank Central Asia during2015, however there are 201 questionnaires were returned. The method of data analysis used isStructural Equation Model (SEM). HUBUNGAN SIBLING RIVALRY DENGAN PERILAKU PROSOSIAL ANAK USIA 4-6 TAHUN

ABSTRAK Hafitzha Zahra Nabila. K8114026. HUBUNGAN SIBLING RIVALRY DENGAN PERILAKU PROSOSIAL ANAK USIA 4-6 TAHUN. Skripsi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara sibling rivalry dengan perilaku prososial anak usia 4-6 tahun. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif jenis korelasi. Populasi penelitian adalah 120 anak berusia 4-6 tahun yang memiliki dan tinggal dengan saudara kandung yang bersekolah di gugus 7 Gladiol Laweyan Surakarta. Sampel penelitian adalah 60 anak yang diambil menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dengan kriteria jarak usia antar saudara 2-4 tahun. Teknik pengambilan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan kuesioner yang dibagikan kepada orang tua murid segugus 7 gladiol dan checklist perilaku yang dibagikan kepada guru kelas segugus 7 Gladiol. Uji hipotesis penelitian ini menggunakan uji korelasi Spearman rho untuk mengetahui apakah sibling rivalry berhubungan dengan perilaku prososial anak usia 4-6 tahun. Hasil analisis didapatkan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 yang menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara sibling rivalry dengan perilaku prososial anak usia 4-6 tahun. Nilai koefisien korelasi yang didapatkan berdasarkan perhitungan dengan Spearman Rho sebesar -0,998. Nilai tersebut tergolong dalam kategori sangat kuat yaitu antara 0,80-1,00, artinya hubungan sibling rivalry dengan perilaku prososial pada anak usia 4-6 tahun memiliki hubungan yang sangat kuat. Selain itu, arah hubungan menunjukkan tanda negatif (-) yang artinya arah hubungan berlawanan arah. Apabila sibling rivalry tinggi maka perilaku prososial rendah, begitu juga sebaliknya apabila sibling rivalry rendah maka perilaku prososial tinggi. A Neutrinophilic 2HDM as a UV Completion for the Inverse Seesaw Mechanism

In Neutrinophilic Two Higgs Doublet Models, Dirac neutrino masses are obtained by forbidding a Majorana mass term for the right-handed neutrinos via a symmetry. We study a variation of such models in which that symmetry is taken to be a local U(1), leading naturally to the typical Lagrangian of the inverse seesaw scenario. The presence of a new gauge boson and of an extended scalar sector result in a rich phenomenology, including modifications to Z, Higgs and kaon decays as well as to electroweak precision parameters, and a pseudoscalar associated to the breaking of lepton number.Comment: 21 pages, 2 figures, matches the published version in JHE

Identifying the Temporal Causal Relationship Between Alcohol and Tobacco Consumption with Aggregate Cancer Mortality over Alternative Time Horizons

Identifying the causal role of tobacco and alcohol has long been acknowledged as a critical area for developing preventative strategies in particular and public policy in general. This study utilizes a unique time series method in an effort to determine the strength of causal relationships between tobacco consumption, alcohol consumption and cancer mortality. By analysing tobacco expenditure, alcohol expenditure, while controlling for health expenditures and aggregate cancer data observed annually over an 80-year period fin the US population, we consider the relevant factors explaining and potentially guiding public health concerns going forward. Our results found that while tobacco and alcohol consumption (individually) causally impact cancer mortality, alcohol consumption maintains a stronger, bidirectional impact in comparison to tobacco consumption. From this, we consider explanations from an economic, biological and epidemiological front, gauging the strength of alcohol consumption on societal wellbeing. We find alcohol consumption to be a notable causal factor in cancer mortality that has been neglected from a public policy perspective in comparison to its more mediated tobacco counterpart

Azospirillum Inoculation Alters Nitrate Reductase Activity and Nitrogen Uptake in Wheat Plant under Water Deficit Conditions

Water deficit stress usually diminishes nitrogen uptake by plants. There are evidences that some nitrogen fixing bacteria can alleviate this stress by supplying nitrogen and improving its metabolism in plants. Four Azospirillum strains, A. lipoferum AC45-II, A. brasilense AC46-I, A. irakense AC49-VII and A. irakense AC51-VI were tested for nitrate reductase activity (NRA). In a pot culture experiment using a sandy loam soil, wheat plants (Triticum aestivum L. cv. Sardari) were inoculated with these bacterial strains and three ranges of soil water potential (W1: -10 to -20, W2: -40 to -50 and W3: -65 to -75 kPa) were applied to the pots. All strains were positive in NRA test and the highest (7.63mg NO2-N.L-1.48h-1) was recorded for AC49-VII and the least (0.23mg NO2-N.L-1.48h-1) was belong to AC51-VI. Leaf and root NRA, root and shoot nitrogen concentrations, and dry weights of root and shoot decreased by increasing water deficit stress. All four bacterial strains caused a significant enhancement in root NRA and in each water deficit level, the higher root NRA was recorded in AC46-I and AC49-VII inoculated plants. The highest leaf NRA was achieved by AC49-VII. The mean increment of root NRA by bacterial strains was 171% compared to the non-bacterial plants. Moreover, at the highest level of water deficit stress, the highest dry weight and nitrogen concentration in root and shoot were obtained by AC46-I and AC49-VII treatments
