    Comparison of four different treatment strategies in teeth with molar-incisor hypomineralization-related enamel breakdown–A retrospective cohort study

    Background There is little information available on the longevity of non-invasive glass ionomer cement (GIC) and composite restorations as well as conventional composite and ceramic restorations placed on permanent teeth with enamel breakdowns due to molar-incisor hypomineralization (MIH). Aim To compare the longevity of the abovementioned treatment procedures. Design Of 377 identified MIH patients, 118 individuals received restorative treatment and were invited for clinical examination, including caries and MIH status. Finally, survival data from 204 MIH-related restorations placed on 127 teeth were retrospectively collected from 52 children, monitored between 2010 and 2018. Descriptive and explorative analyses were performed, including Kaplan-Meier estimators and the Cox regression model. Results The mean patient observation time was 42.9 months (SD = 35.1). The cumulative survival probabilities after 36 months—7.0% (GIC, N = 28), 29.9% (non-invasive composite restoration, N = 126), 76.2% (conventional composite restoration, N = 27) and 100.0% (ceramic restoration, N = 23)—differed significantly in the regression analysis. Conclusions Conventional restorations were associated with moderate-to-high survival rates in MIH teeth. In contrast, non-invasive composite restorations, which were predominately used in younger or less cooperative children, were linked to lower survival rates

    Prevalence of Age-Related Macular Degeneration in Europe: The Past and the Future

    Purpose Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a frequent, complex disorder in elderly of European ancestry. Risk profiles and treatment options have changed considerably over the years, which may have affected disease prevalence and outcome. We determined the prevalence of early and late AMD in Europe from 1990 to 2013 using the European Eye Epidemiology (E3) consortium, and made projections for the future. Design Meta-analysis of prevalence data. Participants A total of 42 080 individuals 40 years of age and older participating in 14 population-based cohorts from 10 countries in Europe. Methods AMD was diagnosed based on fundus photographs using the Rotterdam Classification. Prevalence of early and late AMD was calculated using random-effects meta-analysis stratified for age, birth cohort, gender, geographic region, and time period of the study. Best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was compared between late AMD subtypes; geographic atrophy (GA) and choroidal neovascularization (CNV). Main Outcome Measures Prevalence of early and late AMD, BCVA, and number of AMD cases.     One in Four is an ad campaign targeted at raising awareness of on-campus sexual assault and the effects that assault has on survivors. This ad campaign will include testimonies of survivors of sexual assault within the Claremont Colleges and will be shared through social media and printed on physical flyers. This thesis will explore how marketing strategies, such as, social norms marketing, has the potential to change the audiences behavior in relation to their peers’ behavior. It will also explore the work of the Guerrilla Girls and how anonymity was crucial to their success. In addition, One in Four will examine the work of Barbara Kruger and her use of graphics and red text. Through the use of various marketing strategies and influence of the work of the Guerrilla Girls and Barbara Kruger, One In Four will be successful in it\u27s goal of raising awareness, destigmatizing sexual assault and have survivors feel that their stories are important and they are not alone
