The tensor structure on the representation category of the triplet algebra
We study the braided monoidal structure that the fusion product induces on
the abelian category -mod, the category of representations of
the triplet -algebra . The -algebras are a
family of vertex operator algebras that form the simplest known examples of
symmetry algebras of logarithmic conformal field theories. We formalise the
methods for computing fusion products, developed by Nahm, Gaberdiel and Kausch,
that are widely used in the physics literature and illustrate a systematic
approach to calculating fusion products in non-semi-simple representation
categories. We apply these methods to the braided monoidal structure of
-mod, previously constructed by Huang, Lepowsky and Zhang, to
prove that this braided monoidal structure is rigid. The rigidity of
-mod allows us to prove explicit formulae for the fusion product
on the set of all simple and all projective -modules, which were
first conjectured by Fuchs, Hwang, Semikhatov and Tipunin; and Gaberdiel and
Runkel.Comment: 58 pages; edit: added references and revisions according to referee

Magneto-Centrifugal Launching of Jets from Accretion Disks. I: Cold Axisymmetric Flows
The magneto-centrifugal model for jet formation is studied by time-dependent
simulations reaching steady state in a cold gas with negligible fluid pressure,
in an axisymmetric geometry, using a modification of the Zeus3D code adapted to
parallel computers. The number of boundary conditions imposed at the coronal
base takes into account the existence of the fast and Alfvenic critical
surfaces, avoiding over-determination of the flow. The size and shape of the
computational box is chosen to include these critical surfaces, reducing the
influence of the outer boundary conditions. As there is a region, near the
origin, where the inclination of field lines to the axis is too small to drive
a centrifugal wind, we inject a thin, axial jet, expected to form
electromagnetically near black holes. Acceleration and collimation appear for
wide generic conditions. A reference run is shown in detail, with a wind
leaving the computational volume in the axial direction with a poloidal
velocity equal to 4 times the poloidal Alfven speed, collimated inside 11
degrees. Finally, the critical surfaces, fieldlines, thrust, energy, torque and
mass discharge of the outgoing wind are shown for simulations with various
profiles of mass and magnetic flux at the base of the corona.Comment: 27 pages, including 10 figures and 2 tables. To appear in ApJ (Dec

Is the meson a dynamically generated resonance? -- a lesson learned from the O(N) model and beyond
O(N) linear model is solvable in the large limit and hence
provides a useful theoretical laboratory to test various unitarization
approximations. We find that the large limit and the
limit do not commute. In order to get the correct large spectrum one has
to firstly take the large limit. We argue that the meson may
not be described as generated dynamically. On the contrary, it is most
appropriately described at the same level as the pions, i.e, both appear
explicitly in the effective lagrangian. Actually it is very likely the
meson responsible for the spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking in a lagrangian
with linearly realized chiral symmetry.Comment: 15 pages, 3 figurs; references added; discussions slightly modified;

Topological Weyl and Node-Line Semimetals in Ferromagnetic Vanadium-Phosphorous-Oxide -VOPO Compound
We propose that the topological semimetal features can co-exist with
ferromagnetic ground state in vanadium-phosphorous-oxide -VOPO
compound from first-principles calculations. In this magnetic system with
inversion symmetry, the direction of magnetization is able to manipulate the
symmetric protected band structures from a node-line type to a Weyl one in the
presence of spin-orbital-coupling. The node-line semimetal phase is protected
by the mirror symmetry with the reflection-invariant plane perpendicular to
magnetic order. Within mirror symmetry breaking due to the magnetization along
other directions, the gapless node-line loop will degenerate to only one pair
of Weyl points protected by the rotational symmetry along the magnetic axis,
which are largely separated in momentum space. Such Weyl semimetal phase
provides a nice candidate with the minimum number of Weyl points in a condensed
matter system. The results of surface band calculations confirm the non-trivial
topology of this proposed compound. This findings provide a realistic candidate
for the investigation of topological semimetals with time-reversal symmetry
breaking, particularly towards the realization of quantum anomalous Hall effect
in Weyl semimetals.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
