What is the interaction material culture and the monetary value of museum objects through by highlighting the opposite sides of exhibited objects’ value and design commodities’ commercial value, an exhibition aims to question and confuse the traditional understanding and distinction between museum objects and design commercial objects. Corporate museums serve as the reference for this discussion because they represent a hybrid of a traditional museum whose exhibited objects are also commercial products collected for their material worth. The exhibition space mixes traditional museum objects with retail design merchandise in order to encourage visitors to discuss the meaning of material value, while they question whether they are in a traditional exhibition or in a retail design store. All the objects in this exhibit are love tokens. From a curatorial perspective, finalizing museum collections of pair love tokens and romantic pair merchandise catalogues. The collection contains museum objects (not for sale, represented as E) to match with commercial products (for sale, represented as M) which will be coupled and displayed together in the exhibition space. There is a clear relationship drawn between each museum love token and an accompanying commercial product. The site is the TWA terminal by Eero Saarinen at JFK Airport in New York City. It is re-programmed as a hotel associated with JetBlue Airline. The new display and floor lighting system tries to respect the original interior structure. In order to interpret the architecture more, the new design highlights the existing structure for the visitors as a leading guide. Separation between loved ones happens often at airports, making this the perfect setting. Visitors have the ability to purchase some memorable objects in order to share and maintain the relationship during separation. Audiences would experience the circulation by the lighting system on the floor, which highlighting the interior structure and the exhibits. The showcases are combining with the ground lighting system, and they are design in red, which can directly catch audiences’ attentions. In the end of the circulation, the strongness of commercial atmosphere would come up

Ring Signature from Bonsai Tree: How to Preserve the Long-Term Anonymity

Signer-anonymity is the central feature of ring signatures, which enable a user to sign messages on behalf of an arbitrary set of users, called the ring, without revealing exactly which member of the ring actually generated the signature. Strong and long-term signer-anonymity is a reassuring guarantee for users who are hesitant to leak a secret, especially if the consequences of identification are dire in certain scenarios such as whistleblowing. The notion of \textit{unconditional anonymity}, which protects signer-anonymity even against an infinitely powerful adversary, is considered for ring signatures that aim to achieve long-term signer-anonymity. However, the existing lattice-based works that consider the unconditional anonymity notion did not strictly capture the security requirements imposed in practice, this leads to a realistic attack on signer-anonymity. In this paper, we present a realistic attack on the unconditional anonymity of ring signatures, and formalize the unconditional anonymity model to strictly capture it. We then propose a lattice-based ring signature construction with unconditional anonymity by leveraging bonsai tree mechanism. Finally, we prove the security in the standard model and demonstrate the unconditional anonymity through both theoretical proof and practical experiments

Improving Multi-Person Pose Tracking with A Confidence Network

Human pose estimation and tracking are fundamental tasks for understanding human behaviors in videos. Existing top-down framework-based methods usually perform three-stage tasks: human detection, pose estimation and tracking. Although promising results have been achieved, these methods rely heavily on high-performance detectors and may fail to track persons who are occluded or miss-detected. To overcome these problems, in this paper, we develop a novel keypoint confidence network and a tracking pipeline to improve human detection and pose estimation in top-down approaches. Specifically, the keypoint confidence network is designed to determine whether each keypoint is occluded, and it is incorporated into the pose estimation module. In the tracking pipeline, we propose the Bbox-revision module to reduce missing detection and the ID-retrieve module to correct lost trajectories, improving the performance of the detection stage. Experimental results show that our approach is universal in human detection and pose estimation, achieving state-of-the-art performance on both PoseTrack 2017 and 2018 datasets.Comment: Accepted by IEEE Transactions on Multimedia. 11 pages, 5 figure

Sufficiently large depletion region for photocarrier generation and separation is a key factor for two-dimensional material optoelectronic devices, but few device configurations has been explored for a deterministic control of a space charge region area in graphene with convincing scalability. Here we investigate a graphene-silicon p-i-n photodiode defined in a foundry processed planar photonic crystal waveguide structure, achieving visible - near-infrared, zero-bias and ultrafast photodetection. Graphene is electrically contacting to the wide intrinsic region of silicon and extended to the p an n doped region, functioning as the primary photocarrier conducting channel for electronic gain. Graphene significantly improves the device speed through ultrafast out-of-plane interfacial carrier transfer and the following in-plane built-in electric field assisted carrier collection. More than 50 dB converted signal-to-noise ratio at 40 GHz has been demonstrated under zero bias voltage, with quantum efficiency could be further amplified by hot carrier gain on graphene-i Si interface and avalanche process on graphene-doped Si interface. With the device architecture fully defined by nanomanufactured substrate, this study is the first demonstration of post-fabrication-free two-dimensional material active silicon photonic devices.Comment: NPJ 2D materials and applications (2018

Emotional labor claims its significance as the key indicator both of the psychological health of contemporary employees, and the productivity of service-based businesses depending upon genuine emotional input of employees. By far, research on emotional labor of employees in an organizational context is still lacking. This study aims to explore the relationships among emotional labor, organizational support, career competences and career commitment to investigate how emotional labor interacts with the organizational context and affects the career management of the employee. Data were collected from a sample of 387 frontline employees working at two luxury hotel brands in China. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was utilized to estimate the relationships among the constructs. It is demonstrated by the findings that organizational support mediates positively on emotional labor, which exerts positive influences on career competences and career commitment. Sound handling of emotional labor, boosted by a supportive organizational environment, has been ascertained to positively predict long-term career paths of the employees at the company. This study provides insights into how the tourism and hospitality industry can optimize the functions of emotional labor for in enhancing service quality and customer satisfaction, as well as promoting the psychological well-being of the employees

Surface plasmon polaritons enable light concentration within subwavelength regions, opening thereby new avenues for miniaturizing the device and strengthening light-matter interactions. Here we realize effective electro-optic modulation in low-loss plasmonic waveguides with the aid of graphene, and the devices are fully integrated in the silicon-on-insulator platform. By advantageously exploiting low-loss plasmonic slot-waveguide modes, which weakly leak into a substrate while feature strong fields within the two-layer-graphene covered slots in metal, we successfully achieve a tunability of 0.13 dB/um for our fabricated graphene-plasmonic waveguide devices with extremely low insertion loss, which outperforms previously reported graphene-plasmonic devices. Our results highlight the potential of graphene plasmonic leaky-mode hybrid waveguides to realized active ultra-compact devices for optoelectronic applications.Comment: revised version with 12 pages and 4 figure

HPV E6 induces eIF4E transcription to promote the proliferation and migration of cervical cancer

    Get PDF
AbstractIncreasing evidence has placed eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E (eIF4E) at the hub of tumor development and progression. Several studies have reported that eIF4E is over-expressed in cervical cancer; however, the mechanism remains elusive. The results of this study further confirm over-expression of eIF4E in cervical cancer tumors and cell lines, and we have discovered that the transcription of eIF4E is induced by protein E6 of the human papillomavirus (HPV). Moreover, regulation of eIF4E by E6 significantly influences cell proliferation, the cell cycle, migration, and apoptosis. Therefore, eIF4E emerges as a key player in tumor development and progression and a potential target for CC treatment and prevention
