Production of the superheavy baryon in kaon-induced reaction
The production of superheavy baryon in
the process via -channel is
investigated with an effective Lagrangian approach and the isobar model.
Moreover, the -channel with and -channel with nucleon
exchange are also considered, which are regarded as the background for the
production in the reaction. The numerical results indicate it is feasible to
searching for the superheavy via
scattering. These theoretical results not only provide valuable informations to
future experimental exploration of
resonance but enable us to have a better understanding of the exotic baryons.Comment: 6 page
Transcription factor c-Myb promotes the invasion of hepatocellular carcinoma cells via increasing osteopontin expression
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Specific gene expression is tightly regulated by various transcription factors. Osteopontin (OPN) is a phosphoprotein that mediates hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression and metastasis. However, the mechanism of OPN up-regulation in HCC metastasis remains to be clarified.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>Oligonucleotide array-based transcription factor assays were applied to compare different activities of transcription factors in two human HCC cell lines with different OPN expression levels. The effects of one selected transcription factor on OPN expression were further evaluated.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Eleven transcription factors were over-expressed in metastatic HCC cell line HCCLM6 cells whereas twelve transcription factors were down-regulated. Electrophoretic mobility shift assays (EMSA) and reporter gene assays showed that one of up-regulated transcription factors c-Myb could bind the OPN promoter and increase its transcription activity. In addition, small interfering RNA targeting c-Myb could inhibit OPN expression and significantly decrease migration and invasion of HCCLM6 cells <it>in vitro</it>.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>Our data first demonstrate that c-Myb has a functionally important role in the regulation of OPN expression in HCC cells, suggesting that c-Myb might be a new target to control HCC metastasis.</p
Combined analysis of endometrial thickness and pattern in predicting outcome of in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer: a retrospective cohort study
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Objective</p> <p>To evaluate the combined effect of endometrial thickness and pattern on clinical outcome in patients undergoing in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection and embryo transfer (IVF/ICSI-ET).</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>Cycles of IVF/ICSI-ET conducted between January 2003 and December 2008 at a university-based reproductive center were reviewed retrospectively. Endometrial ultrasonographic characteristics were recorded on the day of hCG administration. In the combined analysis, endometrial thickness groups (group 1: equal or <7 mm; group 2: 7-14 mm; group 3: >14 mm) were subdivided into two endometrial patterns (pattern A: triple-line; pattern B: no-triple line). Clinical pregnancy rate (CPR) and early miscarriage rate in different groups were analyzed.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>A total of 2896 cycles were reviewed. Clinical pregnancy rate (CPR) was 24.4% in group1-A. There were no second trimester pregnancies in group 1-B. Miscarriage rate in group 2-A was significantly lower compared to group 2-B (P < 0.01), although CPR did not show any significant differences between the groups. A no-triple line endometrial pattern with moderate endometrial thickness (7-14 mm) had a detrimental effect on pregnancy outcome, but not the occurrence of pregnancy. In group 3, there was no difference in CPR and miscarriage rates between the two patterns; adequate endometrial thickness (>14 mm) seemed to mitigate the detrimental impact (high miscarriage rate) of pattern B.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>Combined analysis of endometrial thickness and pattern on the day of hCG administration was a better predictor of the outcome of IVF/ICSI-ET and may be more helpful for patient counseling than the separate analyses.</p
A generalized public goods game with coupling of individual ability and project benefit
Facing a heavy task, any single person can only make a limited contribution
and team cooperation is needed. As one enjoys the benefit of the public goods,
the potential benefits of the project are not always maximized and may be
partly wasted. By incorporating individual ability and project benefit into the
original public goods game, we study the coupling effect of the four
parameters, the upper limit of individual contribution, the upper limit of
individual benefit, the needed project cost and the upper limit of project
benefit on the evolution of cooperation. Coevolving with the individual-level
group size preferences, an increase in the upper limit of individual benefit
promotes cooperation while an increase in the upper limit of individual
contribution inhibits cooperation. The coupling of the upper limit of
individual contribution and the needed project cost determines the critical
point of the upper limit of project benefit, where the equilibrium frequency of
cooperators reaches its highest level. Above the critical point, an increase in
the upper limit of project benefit inhibits cooperation. The evolution of
cooperation is closely related to the preferred group-size distribution. A
functional relation between the frequency of cooperators and the dominant group
size is found
LSCD: A Large-Scale Screen Content Dataset for Video Compression
Multimedia compression allows us to watch videos, see pictures and hear
sounds within a limited bandwidth, which helps the flourish of the internet.
During the past decades, multimedia compression has achieved great success
using hand-craft features and systems. With the development of artificial
intelligence and video compression, there emerges a lot of research work
related to using the neural network on the video compression task to get rid of
the complicated system. Not only producing the advanced algorithms, but
researchers also spread the compression to different content, such as User
Generated Content(UGC). With the rapid development of mobile devices, screen
content videos become an important part of multimedia data. In contrast, we
find community lacks a large-scale dataset for screen content video
compression, which impedes the fast development of the corresponding
learning-based algorithms. In order to fulfill this blank and accelerate the
research of this special type of videos, we propose the Large-scale Screen
Content Dataset(LSCD), which contains 714 source sequences. Meanwhile, we
provide the analysis of the proposed dataset to show some features of screen
content videos, which will help researchers have a better understanding of how
to explore new algorithms. Besides collecting and post-processing the data to
organize the dataset, we also provide a benchmark containing the performance of
both traditional codec and learning-based methods
