Strong CMB Constraint On P-Wave Annihilating Dark Matter
We consider a dark sector consisting of dark matter that is a Dirac fermion
and a scalar mediator. This model has been extensively studied in the past. If
the scalar couples to the dark matter in a parity conserving manner then dark
matter annihilation to two mediators is dominated by the P-wave channel and
hence is suppressed at very low momentum. The indirect detection constraint
from the anisotropy of the Cosmic Microwave Background is usually thought to be
absent in the model because of this suppression. In this letter we show that
dark matter annihilation to bound states occurs through the S-wave and hence
there is a constraint on the parameter space of the model from the Cosmic
Microwave Background.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figure
Right-Handed Quark Mixings in Minimal Left-Right Symmetric Model with General CP Violation
We present a systematic approach to solve analytically for the right-handed
quark mixings in the minimal left-right symmetric model which generally has
both explicit and spontaneous CP violations. The leading-order result has the
same hierarchical structure as the left-handed CKM mixing, but with additional
CP phases originating from a spontaneous CP-violating phase in the Higgs vev.
We explore the phenomenology entailed by the new right-handed mixing matrix,
particularly the bounds on the mass of and the CP phase of the Higgs vev.Comment: 8 pages, one postscript figure include
Constraining Right-Handed Scale Through Kaon Mixing in SUSY Left-Right Model
We study flavor-changing neutral current and CP violations in the minimal
supersymmetric left-right model. We calculate the beyond-standard-model
contributions to the neutral kaon mixing and , and find
possible to have a numerical cancelation between the contributions from the
right-handed gauge boson and supersymmetric box diagram. With the cancelation,
the right-handed -boson mass scale can be lowered to about 2 TeV, well
within the search limit of LHC.Comment: 12 pages, new figures adde
Direct detection of baryogenesis mechanism from squark decays at LHC
We investigate the feasibility of directly detecting a generation mechanism of the cosmic baryon asymmetry by repeating the same particle physics process inside the LHC. We propose a framework with R-parity and CP violating squark decays responsible for baryogenesis, which can be embedded in supersymmetric models and is partly motivated by naturalness. We argue that the baryon number generation here is closely related to lepton charge asymmetry on the resonance. We emphasize the importance of the single charged lepton plus multijet channel in the absence of significant missing energy in search of such a scenario
An Assessment of Advance Directives in China: The Coming of Age for Legal Regulation?
Advance directives (AD) are playing an increasingly important role in end-of-life medical care and treatment in ageing societies. A growing number of jurisdictions have introduced AD-related laws as a component of their medical and health care regulatory frameworks. This article presents an analytical account of why specific regulation on ADs has yet to develop in China, the most populous ageing society in the world. We argue that the regulatory vacuum to date can be partly explained by limited public demand, which can be further accounted by relatively low public awareness as well as the influence of traditional views on life-and-death and family relationships. Finally, we suggest that there may be a “coming of age” for Ads in China in the near future, given the growing importance of patient autonomy in medical decision-making, promotion of the concept by advocacy groups, expansion of hospice and palliative care, and emergent discussions among policymakers
