An unconventional magnetically-coupled multivibrator
Multivibrator circuit provides a low-frequency sine wave output without using a low-frequency power transformer or filter components. This circuit, utilizing two transistors and a magnetic core, represents a reduction in complexity, size, and weight over similar units
Quantum transitions induced by the third cumulant of current fluctuations
We investigate the transitions induced by external current fluctuations on a
small probe quantum system. The rates for the transitions between the energy
states are calculated using the real-time Keldysh formalism for the density
matrix evolution. We especially detail the effects of the third cumulant of
current fluctuations inductively coupled to a quantum bit and propose a setup
for detecting the frequency-dependent third cumulant through the transitions it

Hole tunneling times in GaAs/AlAs double-barrier structures
We have calculated hole tunneling times in GaAs/AlAs double-barrier structures taking quantum well band-mixing effects into account. Our results indicate that for sufficiently high hole temperatures and concentrations, band-mixing effects reduce average hole tunneling times from the pure heavy hole value to values comparable to electron tunneling times in the same structure. For very low hole temperatures and concentrations, band mixing is less important and average hole tunneling times should approach the pure heavy hole value. These results provide an explanation for previously reported experimental results in which electrons and holes were found to be characterized by very similar tunneling times
Some peculiarities of burnt birch wood pyrolysis
The results of thermal analysis of sound and burnt birch wood samples were compared. An attempt was made to establish a connection between the type of the TG, DTG and DSC curves and the mechanism of wood pyrolysis. The dependence of the exothermic effect of the pyrolysis process on the oxygen content in the original wood is shown. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd. All rights reserved
Double proximity effect in hybrid planar Superconductor-(Normal metal/Ferromagnet)-Superconductor structures
We have investigated the differential resistance of hybrid planar
Al-(Cu/Fe)-Al submicron bridges at low temperatures and in weak magnetic
fields. The structure consists of Cu/Fe-bilayer forming a bridge between two
superconducting Al-electrodes. In superconducting state of Al-electrodes, we
have observed a double-peak peculiarity in differential resistance of the
S-(N/F)-S structures at a bias voltage corresponding to the minigap. We claim
that this effect (the doubling of the minigap) is due to an electron spin
polarization in the normal metal which is induced by the ferromagnet. We have
demonstrated that the double-peak peculiarity is converted to a single peak at
a coercive applied field corresponding to zero magnetization of the Fe-layer
Sudden Death of Entanglement of Two Jaynes-Cummings Atoms
We investigate entanglement dynamics of two isolated atoms, each in its own
Jaynes-Cummings cavity. We show analytically that initial entanglement has an
interesting subsequent time evolution, including the so-called sudden death
