    Intervention study of finger-movement exercises and finger weight-lift training for improvement of handgrip strength among the very elderly

    AbstractObjectivesTo examine the effects of finger-movement exercises and finger weight-lift training on handgrip strength and Activities of Daily Living Scale (ADLS) values.MethodsA total of 80 very elderly adults (aged ≥80 years) were assigned to either an intervention group (n = 40) or a control group (n = 40). Subjects in the intervention group performed finger-movement exercises and weight-lift training for a period of 3 months, while subjects in the control group received no intervention, and were unaware of the interventions received in the other group.ResultsAfter completing 3 months of finger-movement exercises and weight-lift training, the average handgrip strength of the 40 participants in the intervention group had increased by 2.1 kg, whereas that in the control group decreased by 0.27 kg (P < 0.05). After receiving intervention, the number of subjects in the intervention group with an ADLS score >22 points decreased by 7.5% (P < 0.05, vs. pre-intervention).ConclusionsThe combined use intervention with finger-movement exercises and proper finger weight-lift training improved the handgrip strength and ADLS values of very elderly individuals. These rehabilitation exercises may be used to help the elderly maintain their self-care abilities

    固本益肺汤联合腹针治疗尘肺30例疗效观察

    Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Guben Yifei decoction combined with acupoint sticking therapy on pneumoconiosis. Methods: 60 cases of pneumoconiosis with syndrome of deficiency of both lung and kidney were randomly divided into two groups. The two groups were treated with oxygen, anti fibrosis, antiasthmatic, expectorant, and so on for 15 days of a course. In addition to the treatment program of control group, the patients in treatment group were also treated with Guben Yifei decoction (1 doses /d, water decoction) combined with abdominal acupuncture therapy, 1 times /d, for two courses. Observation of patients with cough, sputum, asthma, pulmonary rales and other effects was made and paid attention to symptoms and signs, serum immunoglobulin and changes of blood oxygen saturation before and after the treatment. Results: symptoms, signs disappeared time and healing time, oxygen saturation, serum immunoglobulin were better than the control group (P &lt; 0.05), there was significant difference (P &lt; 0.05). Conclusions: The curative effect of Guben Yifei decoction combined with abdominal acupuncture therapy on pneumoconiosis is remarkable.目的  观察固本益肺汤联合穴位贴敷治疗尘肺的临床疗效。方法  将60例辨证为肺肾两虚型尘肺的患者随机分为两组,两组均予以吸氧,抗纤维化,平喘,化痰等治疗。两组均以15天为1个疗程。治疗组在对照组治疗方案基础上加固本益肺汤治疗,1剂/d,水煎服,同时联合腹针疗法,1次/d,连续治疗两个疗程。观察患者咳嗽、咳痰、喘憋、肺部罗音等疗效,同时观察治疗前后症状、体征、血氧饱和度、血清免疫球蛋白等变化情况。结果  治疗组在症状、体征消失时间及治愈时间、血氧饱和度、血清免疫球蛋白等方面均优于对照组(P<0.05),两组疗效比较,有显著性差异(P<0.05)。结果  固本益肺汤联合腹针疗法治疗尘肺疗效显著

    UV-Based 3D Hand-Object Reconstruction with Grasp Optimization

    We propose a novel framework for 3D hand shape reconstruction and hand-object grasp optimization from a single RGB image. The representation of hand-object contact regions is critical for accurate reconstructions. Instead of approximating the contact regions with sparse points, as in previous works, we propose a dense representation in the form of a UV coordinate map. Furthermore, we introduce inference-time optimization to fine-tune the grasp and improve interactions between the hand and the object. Our pipeline increases hand shape reconstruction accuracy and produces a vibrant hand texture. Experiments on datasets such as Ho3D, FreiHAND, and DexYCB reveal that our proposed method outperforms the state-of-the-art.Comment: BMVC 2022 Spotligh

    Postoperative influences of the torsional phacoemulsification on foveal thickness and corneal edema

    AIM: To report the influences onfoveal thickness and corneal edema after torsional phacoemulsification.<p>METHODS: Totally 52 patients(52 eyes)with age-related cataract were randomly assigned to phacoemulsification using torsional mode(26 eyes)or conventional ultrasound mode(26 eyes). The foveal thickness examined by optical coherence tomography(OCT)after surgery at 1, 4 and 12wk and corneal edema was examined by slit lamp after surgery at 1d.<p>RESULTS: The postoperative averagefoveal thickness datas of the two groups, comparing with corresponding preoperative datas, were significantly augmented at 1, 4 and 12wk(<i>P</i><0.05); the difference of foveal thickness was obviously augmented at 1wk postoperatively(<i>P</i><0.05), was no obvious differences at 4 and 12wk(<i>P</i>>0.05). The effects of corneal edema in torsional group were slighter(<i>P</i><0.05). <p>CONCLUSION: The postoperative influences onfoveal thickness and corneal edema with torsional mode are slighter than that with ultrasound mode, and the postoperative reactions with torsional mode are efficiently reduced

    Investigating the topological structure of quenched lattice QCD with overlap fermions by using multi-probing approximation

    The topological charge density and topological susceptibility are determined by multi-probing approximation using overlap fermions in quenched SU(3) gauge theory. Then we investigate the topological structure of the quenched QCD vacuum, and compare it with results from the all-scale topological density, the results are consistent. Random permuted topological charge density is used to check whether these structures represent underlying ordered properties. Pseudoscalar glueball mass is extracted from the two-point correlation function of the topological charge density. We study 33 ensembles of different lattice spacing aa with the same lattice volume 163×3216^{3}\times32, the results are compatible with the results of all-scale topological charge density, and the topological structures revealed by multi-probing are much closer to all-scale topological charge density than that by eigenmode expansion.Comment: 12 pages,34 figure

    A Critical Examination of Hypernova Remnant Candidates in M101. II. NGC 5471B

    NGC 5471B has been suggested to contain a hypernova remnant because of its extraordinarily bright X-ray emission. To assess its true nature, we have obtained high-resolution images in continuum bands and nebular lines with the Hubble Space Telescope, and high-dispersion long-slit spectra with the Kitt Peak National Observatory 4-m echelle spectrograph. The images reveal three supernova remnant (SNR) candidates in the giant HII region NGC 5471, with the brightest one being the 77x60 pc shell in NGC 5471B. The Ha velocity profile of NGC 5471B can be decomposed into a narrow component (FWHM = 41 km/s) from the background HII region and a broad component (FWHM = 148 km/s) from the SNR shell. Using the brightness ratio of the broad to narrow components and the Ha flux measured from the WFPC2 Ha image, we derive an Ha luminosity of (1.4+-0.1)x10^39 ergs/s for the SNR shell. The [SII]6716,6731 doublet ratio of the broad velocity component is used to derive an electron density of ~700 cm^-3 in the SNR shell. The mass of the SNR shell is thus 4600+-500 Mo. With a \~330 km/s expansion velocity implied by the extreme velocity extent of the broad component, the kinetic energy of the SNR shell is determined to be 5x10^51 ergs. This requires an explosion energy greater than 10^52 ergs, which can be provided by one hypernova or multiple supernovae. Comparing to SNRs in nearby active star formation regions, the SNR shell in NGC 5471B appears truly unique and energetic. We conclude that the optical observations support the existence of a hypernova remnant in NGC 5471B.Comment: 27 pages, 9 figures, to appear in May 2002 issue of The Astronomical Journa
