Fluctuated spin-orbital texture of Rashba-split surface states in real and reciprocal space

Spin-orbit interaction (SOI) in low-dimensional systems, namely Rashba systems and the edge states of topological materials, is extensively studied in this decade as a promising source to realize various fascinating spintronic phenomena, such as the source of the spin current and spin-mediated energy conversion. Here, we show the odd fluctuation in the spin-orbital texture in a surface Rashba system on Bi/InAs(110)-(2$\times$1) by spin- and angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy and a numerical simulation based on a density-functional theory (DFT) calculation. The surface state shows a paired parabolic dispersion with the spin degeneracy lifted by the Rashba effect. Although its spin polarization should be fixed in a particular direction based on the Rashba model, the observed spin polarization varies greatly and even reverses its sign depending on the wavenumber. DFT calculations also reveal that the spin directions of two inequivalent Bi chains on the surface change from nearly parallel (canted-parallel) to anti-parallel in real space in the corresponding wavevector region. These results point out an oversimplification of the nature of spin in Rashba and Dirac systems and provide more freedom than expected for spin manipulation of photoelectrons.Comment: 23 pages, 7 figure

Blob/Hole Generation in the Divertor Leg of the Large Helical Device

We have analyzed ion saturation current fluctuation measured by a fast scanning Langmuir probe (FSP) in edge region of the Large Helical Device (LHD). Positive and negative spikes of the ion saturation current were observed in the private region and on the divertor leg, respectively. It was found that the boundary position between these regions corresponds to the low-field side (LFS) edge of the divertor leg where the gradient of the ion saturation current profile was the maximum. Such a positional relationship resembles that near the separatrix in the LFS in tokamaks, where blobs and holes are generated. Statistical analysis indicates similar fluctuation characteristics among different magnetic devices

本研究は,英米文学科入学生が,自分の英語力についてどのように自己分析しているか,またどのような英語学習動機を持っているかについての研究である。それが英語学力とどのような関係があるかにっいて,標準テストにより母集団を上位群・中位群・下位群の3群に分けて考察している。調査には,5～1の5点法による評定で回答する調査用紙を使用し,そのスコアを因子分析などで統計処理を行った。結果としては,おおよそ各群のテスト平均と自分の英語学力に対する自己分析の点数とには相関関係があること,因子分析の結果から,英語学習動機に関しては,従来の英米文学科がめざす教養的志向よりも資格や英語の受信・発信といった英語の技術そのものに対する志向が各群を通じて強いことがわかる一方で,英語教員を目指そうとする動機が予想以上に低いことが判明した。英米文学科の今後目指す方向は,このような学生の志向の変化をふまえた上で議論されなくてはならない

本論文は、中期語学留学プログラム(4ヶ月)の効果に関して、留学者の英語学力の伸長を中心に学力テストのデータ分析および質問紙による調査法を用いて考察するものである。 留学者が帰国後に受験した学力テストの結果と、同時期に日本で学習した学生のテスト結果とを比較して言えることは、入学当時は学力面で他の学生とそれほど差がなかった留学者が、中期留学を終えた段階で四技能のうち特にlisteningにおいて著しい伸張を見せていることである。それは全体の中位群に属した留学者ほど顕著である。また帰国時に質問紙を用いて英語運用に関する調査をしたところ、自分に英語学力がついたことを実感している答えが多かった。 同時に、テスト結果から見るとreadeingの伸びはそれほどめざましいものではなく、質問紙による留学者の自己認識からもその事実が読み取れる。今後この技能をさらに伸ばす方策をたてることが日本での大学英語教育に不可欠である

本論文は四年制女子大学英米文学科2001年度入学生に対して行った自己分析と学習動機についての論文「外国語学習に関する自己分析と動機の研究-学力別観点からの英米文学科新入生の実像」(藤澤・小森(2002))の続編に当たるもので、継続的な追跡調査の報告・検証である。同学生が入学後約2年経過した段階で、英米文学科のカリキュラムを通して英語学力をいかに伸ばしてきたか、そして自分の英語学力に対しての自己分析はどのように変化したかを統計的分析により考察するものである。 結果としては、二回のテスト結果を通して2年経過した段階で上位群・中位群・下位群ともに英語学力に関して伸びが見られた。しかし英語学力に関しての自己分析との相関で言うと、上位群と下位群は学力の伸びに比べて自己分析の数字が伸びていない。他方中位群については自己分析の数字の伸びに比べると学力の伸びが小さいことが明らかになった

Developing Learner Autonomy : オオサカ ショウイン ジョシダイガク ニ オケル Self-Access Center コウチク ノ タメ ニ

本論文の目的は、大阪樟蔭女子大学(小阪キャンパス)に設置された Self-Access Center (SAC) を運営する上での理論的背景を探るものである。 「ゆとり教育』の弊害に由来する学生の(英語)学力低下に対処するための一つの妙案として、学生の自律的な英語学習の場としてのSACを設置する動きが全国で始まりつつある。SACの中心的な課題は、学生が中学校・高等学校で行なってきた他者依存的な学習ストラテジーを断ち、「自律した学習者」(autonomous learner)を養成することである。そのためには、教授者側にも、学習者を「教え込む」スタイルから、学習者が「自ら学ぶ」のを教授者が「手助け」するというスタイルへの、ある意味での教育観並びに教育方法のパラダイムシフトが必要となる。 この考え方を視野に入れ、さらに本学学生の英語学力の現状分析を踏まえた上で、「自律した学習者」の養成に向けた本学のSACの担うべき機能や役割について提言を行う

本稿は『大阪樟蔭女子大学論集』第39号(2002年3月)に発表した「外国語学習に関する自己分析と動機の研究-学力別観点からの英米文学科入学生の実像」の続編にあたる。先の研究は2001年度S女子大学英米文学科入学生を調査対象として、彼らの入学動機に関する調査をまとめたものである。本研究はその4年後に、再び同学科入学生に対して行った調査結果に基づいて考察を行うものである。 調査の結果、英語学力と英語の四技能についての自己分析に関しては、全体を三群に分けたうちの中・下位群の学生の動向に注意を払う必要があることがわかる。listening力は多少向上が見られるものの、reading力に自信がない学生が増加している。また学習動機に関しては、下位群の学習意欲を示す数値が高い傾向にあることが目立つ。さらに因子分析の結果、教養としての英語ではなく、実践的な英語を習得することを希望する学生層が全体として増えつつあることが挙げられる。このような英語学習動機を持って入学した学生に対して、今後どのように方向付け、育てることが可能かを再度検討することが急務である

Discovering Our Self-access Center : From in-country research to a working model

Interest in autonomous learning in recent years has manifested itself in the proliferation of self-access centers in many different forms all over the world. This is no less true within Japan where local self-access centers showcase a diverse range of applications to this approach to autonomous language learning. A brief overview of self-access typologies and the subsequent classification of four observed models will serve as a framework for the model evolving at Osaka Shoin Women\u27s University. The concept of "peer collaboration" and "learner community" as additional components for the Shoin model of self-access as a parallel but no less essential step towards autonomy will be introduced in tandem with the pedagogical necessity of this addition for the students at this university

Osaka Shoin SAC : Balanced development of our learner community

This paper reports on the on-going development of the Self-access Center (SAC) at Osaka Shoin and focuses on the process of implementation of a model outlined in 2007. After providing background information on the framework, an overview of the activities for the past year will be briefly summarized followed by a look at the cooperative and collaborative environment provided to the learners to enhance their self-directed learning skills. The results yielded from a survey taken 15 months after opening appear to indicate that the support offered by the SAC has achieved some of its goals while other areas require more time and resources
