Erlang Code Evolution Control
During the software lifecycle, a program can evolve several times for
different reasons such as the optimisation of a bottle-neck, the refactoring of
an obscure function, etc. These code changes often involve several functions or
modules, so it can be difficult to know whether the correct behaviour of the
previous releases has been preserved in the new release. Most developers rely
on a previously defined test suite to check this behaviour preservation. We
propose here an alternative approach to automatically obtain a test suite that
specifically focusses on comparing the old and new versions of the code. Our
test case generation is directed by a sophisticated combination of several
already existing tools such as TypEr, CutEr, and PropEr; and other ideas such
as allowing the programmer to chose an expression of interest that must
preserve the behaviour, or the recording of the sequences of values to which
this expression is evaluated. All the presented work has been implemented in an

Brain amyloid in preclinical Alzheimer\u27s disease is associated with increased driving risk
INTRODUCTION: Postmortem studies suggest that fibrillar brain amyloid places people at higher risk for hazardous driving in the preclinical stage of Alzheimer's disease (AD). METHODS: We administered driving questionnaires to 104 older drivers (19 AD, 24 mild cognitive impairment, and 61 cognitive normal) who had a recent (18)F-florbetapir positron emission tomography scan. We examined associations of amyloid standardized uptake value ratios with driving behaviors: traffic violations or accidents in the past 3Â years. RESULTS: The frequency of violations or accidents was curvilinear with respect to standardized uptake value ratios, peaking around a value of 1.1 (model r(2)Â =Â 0.10, PÂ =Â .002); moreover, this relationship was evident for the cognitively normal participants. DISCUSSION: We found that driving risk is strongly related to accumulating amyloid on positron emission tomography, and that this trend is evident in the preclinical stage of AD. Brain amyloid burden may in part explain the increased crash risk reported in older adults
A computationally efficient inorganic atmospheric aerosol phase equilibrium model (UHAERO)
A variety of thermodynamic models have been developed to predict inorganic gas-aerosol equilibrium. To achieve computational efficiency a number of the models rely on a priori specification of the phases present in certain relative humidity regimes. Presented here is a new computational model, named UHAERO, that is both efficient and rigorously computes phase behavior without any a priori specification. The computational implementation is based on minimization of the Gibbs free energy using a primal-dual method, coupled to a Newton iteration. The mathematical details of the solution are given elsewhere. The model also computes deliquescence and crystallization behavior without any a priori specification of the relative humidities of deliquescence or crystallization. Detailed phase diagrams of the sulfate/nitrate/ammonium/water system are presented as a function of relative humidity at 298.15 K over the complete space of composition
Sparse Optical Arbitrary Waveform Measurement by Compressive Sensing
We propose and experimentally demonstrate a compressive sensing scheme based on optical coherent receiver that recovers sparse optical arbitrary signals with an analog bandwidth up to 25GHz. The proposed scheme uses 16x lower sampling rate than the Nyquist theorem and spectral resolution of 24.4MHz

Gregory-Laflamme instability of a slowly rotating black string
We study the Gregory-Laflamme instability of a 5-dimensional slowly rotating
black string in which the 4-dimensional section is described by the Kerr black
hole. We treat the rotation in a perturbative way introducing a small parameter
for the rotation. It is found that rotation makes the Gregory-Laflamme
instability stronger. Both the critical wavelength at the onset of instability
and the growth time-scale are found to decrease as the rotation increases.Comment: 26 pages, 1 figur
Active perception for plume source localisation with underwater gliders
© 2018 Australasian Robotics and Automation Association. All rights reserved. We consider the problem of localising an unknown underwater plume source in an energy-optimal manner. We first develop a specialised Gaussian process (GP) regression technique for estimating the source location given concentration measurements and an ambient flow field. Then, we use the GP upper confidence bound (GP-UCB) for active perception to choose sampling locations that both improve the estimate of the source and lead the glider to the correct source location. A trim-based FMT∗planner is then used to find the sequence of controls that minimise the energy consumption. We provide a theoretical guarantee on the performance of the algorithm, and demonstrate the algorithm using both artificial and experimental datasets
