In the title compound, [Mn(C9H6N3O2)2(H2O)4]·10H2O, the MnII ion is coordinated by two N atoms from two 4-(4H-1,2,4-triazol-4-yl)benzoate ligands and four water molecules in a distorted octahedral geometry. The MnII ion and two coordinated water molecules lie on a twofold rotation axis. The water molecules are involved in O—H⋯N and O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds with the triazole N atoms and carboxylate O atoms, yielding a three-dimensional supramolecular network. π–π interactions between the benzene rings [centroid–centroid distance = 3.836 (9) Å] are observed

AIM:To immediately observe the complication of corneal flap after LASIK surgery.<p>METHODS:A retrospective case series were studies.Totally 2 040 cases(4 080 eyes)from January 2010 to October 2012 in our hospital were collected, the corneal flap was observed using lamp microscope after LASIK within 30min. Corneal flap dislocation, corneal flap strial and intraface debris were examined after operation, the effective treatment and controlled measure should be taken for these complications.<p>RESULTS: Postoperative complications were corneal flap dislocation 102 eyes(2.5%), corneal flapstriae 95 eyes(2.33%), interface debris 105 eyes(2.57%). No failure case was seen. There had no corneal flap-related complications, which seriously impact the visual quality after the surgery.<p>CONCLUSION: Carefully postoperative examination at the first-time is an effective way to manage some complications of post-LASIK. Thus promoting the diagnosis and treatment of post-LASIK complications

    Holographic Optical Elements and Application

    Get PDF
Holographic optical element has a high diffraction efficiency and a narrow-band frequency characteristic, and it has a characteristic that is able to implement several features in a single flat device. It is widely applied in various fields. In this chapter, the principle and characteristics of the holographic optical elements are described in detail, and few typical holographic optical element-based applications, such as head-mounted display, lens array, and solar concentrator, are introduced. Finally, the futuristic research concepts for holographic optical element-based applications and contents are discussed

Experiential learning of HIV self-test among student nurses: A qualitative study

    Get PDF
Background: There is increasing demand for HIV self-tests, and nurses play an important role in counselling and assisting in the testing process. Traditional lecture-based nursing education has not typically focused on self-testing procedures, and there is little understanding of clients' experiences of self-testing. Objectives: To understand the experiential learning (EL)of student nurses during the process of self-testing for HIV. Design: This study used a qualitative design. Settings: A college in northern Taiwan. Participants: We recruited a purposive sample of 30 nursing students. Methods: The OraQuick self-test was used as the self-testing tool in this study. After participants used the OraQuick self-test, they underwent a semi-structured interview during the post-test counselling period. All interview data were subjected to line-by-line content analysis. Results: We extracted nine themes of nursing students' experiences during experiential learning of HIV self-test. In the pre-test stage, they recalled possible risk behaviors for HIV infection, decided to complete the self-test alone or asked for significant others to accompany them, and endured emotional fluctuations immediately prior to the test. When waiting for the test results, they felt isolated from the outside world. Some participants also began questioning the accuracy and safety of the test, and either viewed the results immediately or later on. In the post-test stage, some participants reported being uncertain about the results. Participants reported a greater understanding of the personal impact of testing and revealed their needs for support. Some identified a sense of loss and linked this to the rapid and direct delivery of test results. Conclusions: Our results can be used to guide HIV-related education courses and prevention programs. Experiential learning has the potential to improve HIV pre and post-test counselling, as nurses develop both clinical knowledge and personal insight of the testing process

SU6668 suppresses proliferation of triple negative breast cancer cells through down-regulating MTDH expression

    Get PDF
BACKGROUND: The multiple tyrosine kinase inhibitors SU6668 have a promising therapeutic effect on the progression of hematological malignancies and some solid tumors. Here, we determined its effect on triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells and explored the potential molecular mechanism. METHODS: In this study, MDA-MB-231 cells were treated with SU6668 (15 μM, 30 μM) for 72 h and the change of proliferation was examined by MTT and tablet cloning. DNA ploidy was detected by flow cytometric analysis with PI staining. Double-label immunofluorescence method was used to detect the expression and distribution of MTDH proteins. VEGFR2, HIF-1α, MTDH, E-cadhrein, and SMA expressions were detected by Western bolt assay. RESULTS: This study showed that SU6668 inhibited the proliferation and induced polyploidization of MDA-MB-231 cells in a dose dependent form. SU6668 exposure increased the distribution of MTDH in cytoplasm and decreased its distribution in nuclei. After the treatment of SU6668, VEGFR2, HIF-1α, MTDH and SMA proteins were down-regulated, while E-cadhrein was up-regulated in MDA-MB-231 cells. CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, SU6668 exposure maybe induces polyploidization, inhibit EMT and influence the expression of MTDH, which suppresses the proliferation in TNBC cells. MTDH is a key signal protein in downstream of VEGF/HIF-1αpathway in MDA-MB-231 cells, which may be used as the potential target in the treatment of TNBC

Case Report: First attempt by off-label use of tenecteplase to treat acute extensive portal venous system thrombosis

    Get PDF
Acute extensive portal venous system thrombosis (PVST) can cause lethal complications. Herein, we have for the first time reported the use of anticoagulation combined with systemic thrombolysis by tenecteplase in a male patient with a diagnosis of acute extensive PVST but without liver cirrhosis. After thrombolytic therapy, abdominal pain obviously alleviated. However, urinary bleeding developed, which was reversible by stopping thrombolytic drugs. Finally, this case developed cavernous transformation of the portal vein without portal venous recanalization. In future, the efficacy and safety of tenecteplase should be explored in acute extensive PVST cases

A novel mutation in the WFS1 gene identified in a Taiwanese family with low-frequency hearing impairment

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Wolfram syndrome gene 1 (<it>WFS1</it>) accounts for most of the familial nonsyndromic low-frequency sensorineural hearing loss (LFSNHL) which is characterized by sensorineural hearing losses equal to and below 2000 Hz. The current study aimed to contribute to our understanding of the molecular basis of LFSNHL in an affected Taiwanese family.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>The Taiwanese family with LFSNHL was phenotypically characterized using audiologic examination and pedigree analysis. Genetic characterization was performed by direct sequencing of <it>WFS1 </it>and mutation analysis.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Pure tone audiometry confirmed that the family members affected with LFSNHL had a bilateral sensorineural hearing loss equal to or below 2000 Hz. The hearing loss threshold of the affected members showed no progression, a characteristic that was consistent with a mutation in the <it>WFS1 </it>gene located in the DFNA6/14/38 locus. Pedigree analysis showed a hereditarily autosomal dominant pattern characterized by a full penetrance. Among several polymorphisms, a missense mutation Y669H (2005T>C) in exon 8 of <it>WFS1 </it>was identified in members of a Taiwanese family diagnosed with LFSNHL but not in any of the control subjects.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>We discovered a novel heterozygous missense mutation in exon 8 of <it>WFS1 </it>(i.e., Y669H) which is likely responsible for the LFSNHL phenotype in this particular Taiwanese family.</p
