Joint Port Selection Based Channel Acquisition for FDD Cell-Free Massive MIMO

In frequency division duplexing (FDD) cell-free massive MIMO, the acquisition of the channel state information (CSI) is very challenging because of the large overhead required for the training and feedback of the downlink channels of multiple cooperating base stations (BSs). In this paper, for systems with partial uplink-downlink channel reciprocity, and a general spatial domain channel model with variations in the average port power and correlation among port coefficients, we propose a joint-port-selection-based CSI acquisition and feedback scheme for the downlink transmission with zero-forcing precoding. The scheme uses an eigenvalue-decomposition-based transformation to reduce the feedback overhead by exploring the port correlation. We derive the sum-rate of the system for any port selection. Based on the sum-rate result, we propose a low-complexity greedy-search-based joint port selection (GS-JPS) algorithm. Moreover, to adapt to fast time-varying scenarios, a supervised deep learning-enhanced joint port selection (DL-JPS) algorithm is proposed. Simulations verify the effectiveness of our proposed schemes and their advantage over existing port-selection channel acquisition schemes.Comment: 30 pages, 9 figures. Current status and technology development in implementing low carbon emission energy on underground coal gasification (UCG)

Although coal mining has played a substantial role in world’s development as a critical fuel source for at least 25 years, its value is partly offset by the massive environmental issues it presents during combustion. The shift to a net-zero CO2 emission will open unique possibilities for new coal technological models in which progressive studies and policies, development, and modernization will play a significant role. Therefore, a collection of technologies has been proposed, one of which is cost-effective is the Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) coupled with carbon capture storage (CCS) and utilization technology (CCU) UCG-CCS/CCU. This paper reviews the current status and technology development in implementing low carbon emission energy on underground coal gasification. The study, therefore, leads to discussing the modern stage of underground coal gasification and carbon capture storage development, recent pilot operations, and current developments of the growing market. At the same time, it provides a reference for underground coal gasification combined with CCUS technology

Improved Narrow Water Extraction Using a Morphological Linear Enhancement Technique

An improved water extraction method using a morphological linear enhancement technique is proposed to improve the delineation of narrow water features for the modified normalized difference water index (MNDWI) derived from remote sensing images. This method introduces a morphological white top-hat (WTH) transforming operation on the MNDWI to extract multi-scale and multidirectional differential morphological profiles and constructs a morphological narrow water index (MNWI). The MNWI can effectively enhance the local contrast of linear objects, allowing narrow water bodies to be easily separated from mountain shadows and other features. Furthermore, to accurately delineate surface water bodies, a dual-threshold segmentation method was also developed by combining an empirical threshold segmentation with the MNDWI for wide water bodies and an automatic threshold segmentation with the MNWI for narrow water bodies. This method was validated using three experimental datasets, which were taken from two different Landsat images. Our results demonstrate that narrow water bodies can be sufficiently identified, with an overall accuracy of over 90%. Most narrow streams or rivers keep a continuous shape in space, and the boundaries of the water bodies are accurately delineated as compared with the MNDWI method. Finally, the proposed method was used to extract the entire inland surface water of Fujian province, China
