Control of spiral waves and turbulent states in a cardiac model by travelling-wave perturbations
We propose a travelling-wave perturbation method to control the
spatiotemporal dynamics in a cardiac model. It is numerically demonstrated that
the method can successfully suppress the wave instability (alternans in action
potential duration) in the one-dimensional case and convert spiral waves and
turbulent states to the normal travelling wave states in the two-dimensional
case. An experimental scheme is suggested which may provide a new design for a
cardiac defibrillator.Comment: 9 pages, 5 figure
Hubble Tension: The Evidence of New Physics
The CDM model provides a good fit to most astronomical observations
but harbors large areas of phenomenology and ignorance. With the improvements
in the precision and number of observations, discrepancies between key
cosmological parameters of this model have emerged. Among them, the most
notable tension is the 4 to 6 deviation between the Hubble
constant () estimations measured by the local distance ladder and the
cosmic microwave background (CMB) measurement. In this review, we revisit the
tension based on the latest research and sort out evidence from
solutions to this tension that might imply new physics beyond the CDM
model. The evidence leans more towards modifying the late-time universe.Comment: 39 pages, 6 figures, 3 tables, accepted for publication in Universe

Transmission resonance in a composite plasmonic structure
The design, fabrication, and optical properties of a composite plasmonic
structure, a two-dimentional array of split-ring resonators inserted into
periodic square holes of a metal film, have been reported. A new type of
transmission resonance, which makes a significant difference from the
conventional peaks, has been suggested both theoretically and experimentally.
To understand this effect, a mechanism of ring- resonance induced dipole
emission is proposed.Comment: 14 pages, 4 figure
