A Refined Holographic QCD Model and QCD Phase Structure
We consider the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton system with an arbitrary kinetic
gauge function and a dilaton potential. A family of analytic solutions is
obtained by the potential reconstruction method. We then study its holographic
dual QCD model. The kinetic gauge function can be fixed by requesting the
linear Regge spectrum of mesons. We calculate the free energy to obtain the
phase diagram of the holographic QCD model.Comment: 21 pages, 17 figures. arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with

Confinement-Deconfinment Phase Transition for Heavy Quarks
We study confinement-deconfinement phase transition for heavy quarks in a
bottom-up holographic QCD model. We consider a black hole background in an
Einstein-Maxwell-scalar system and add probe open strings to the background.
Combining the various configurations of the open strings and the phase
structure of the black hole background itself, we obtain the
confinement-deconfinement phase diagram for heavy quarks in the holographic QCD
model.Comment: 23 pages, 14 figures, published in JHEP. arXiv admin note: text

A Study of the Story of SadÄprarudita in the Aį¹£į¹asÄhasrikÄ PrajƱÄpÄramitÄ SÅ«tra
This dissertation focuses on the story of the Bodhisattva SadÄprarudita found in various Buddhist prajƱÄpÄramitÄ sÅ«tras. The richness of the storyās contents, the complexity of its multiple extant versions, and its association with prajƱÄpÄramitÄ make it a piece worthy of investigation. Looking at the origins of the story, previous studies have assumed a linear relationship among the two main versions of the story. Yet a closer analysis conducted in this study reveals two branches of a family tree that appears to stem from an earlier (now lost) parent. The historical analysis of the evolution of the story also provides fresh and reliable evidence concerning the editorial processes of Buddhist texts. Jan Nattier (2003: 49ā63) proposed several rules for identifying interpolations in a text. Application of these rules to the SadÄprarudita narrative has led to the formulation of several supplementary rules. Where Nattierās rules help to identify stratification in the later parallels of the text, these supplementary rules allow for the identification of interpolations in the earlier parallels of the text and between the two main versions as well. Apart from revealing the historical development of the text this thesis makes important contributions to our understanding of the storyās employment across time and space, revealing the importance given to this narrative by many of the great Buddhist masters from India, Tibet and China, and spanning thousands of years. In addition, the unique episode which lists many states of samÄdhi with vivid names is explored to determine whether these samÄdhis could have had a practical basis or are merely as fanciful as their names suggest. The samÄdhi on viewing all tathÄgatas is further investigated to see what implications this may have for the beginnings of MahÄyÄna teachings
DARTS-ASR: Differentiable Architecture Search for Multilingual Speech Recognition and Adaptation
In previous works, only parameter weights of ASR models are optimized under
fixed-topology architecture. However, the design of successful model
architecture has always relied on human experience and intuition. Besides, many
hyperparameters related to model architecture need to be manually tuned.
Therefore in this paper, we propose an ASR approach with efficient
gradient-based architecture search, DARTS-ASR. In order to examine the
generalizability of DARTS-ASR, we apply our approach not only on many languages
to perform monolingual ASR, but also on a multilingual ASR setting. Following
previous works, we conducted experiments on a multilingual dataset, IARPA
BABEL. The experiment results show that our approach outperformed the baseline
fixed-topology architecture by 10.2% and 10.0% relative reduction on character
error rates under monolingual and multilingual ASR settings respectively.
Furthermore, we perform some analysis on the searched architectures by
DARTS-ASR.Comment: Accepted at INTERSPEECH 202
