Predicting Stock Trading Volume through Social Media Data

    Get PDF
Social media plays a big role and can profoundly affect individual behavior and decision-making. This project is to predict the stock trading volume trend from multiple online sources. I chose Facebook to demonstrate the relationship between the stock trading volume and social media data. I used Twitter API to obtain the number of tweets, the number of “retweet” and “favorite” of twitter users. Support vector machine Model(SVM) is used in this project. The daily stock volume data is from Yahoo! Finance, Standard & Poor’s 500 indexes (S&P 500) during the period of July 2015 to December 2015. Through social media data, I analyze the tweet amount and the response form public. This way, I generated the percentage of impact rate on trading volume through social media data. It would be helpful to investment companies to predict the trend of stock market

STABILITY ANALYSIS OF THE GRAVITY ANCHORAGE OF A SUSPENSION BRIDGE BASED ON LARGE-SCALE FIELD TESTS

The stability of gravity anchorages is critical to the safe operation of suspension bridges. The purpose of this paper is to study the stability of a gravity anchorage under the tension of main cables. Large-scale load tests and direct shear tests under the nature state and the saturated state were carried out in the adit at the bottom of the gravity anchorage, because the bottom surface of the gravity anchorage is below the design water level of a reservoir to be built. Representative rock samples in the anchorage area were selected for indoor tests. The basic parameters of the rock mass and the characteristic value of subsoil bearing capacity were obtained based on the field and indoor tests results. The static theory was used to calculate the anti-sliding stability coefficient, anti- overturning stability coefficient and contact stress of the gravity anchorage. The finite element software was used to calculate the horizontal displacement, vertical settlement and contact stress of the gravity anchorage. The calculation results met the relevant requirements, and it can be considered that the gravity anchorage was stable under the tension of main cables. It would provide a reference for the stability study of the gravity anchorage of suspension bridges

AVA: A Video Dataset of Spatio-temporally Localized Atomic Visual Actions

This paper introduces a video dataset of spatio-temporally localized Atomic Visual Actions (AVA). The AVA dataset densely annotates 80 atomic visual actions in 430 15-minute video clips, where actions are localized in space and time, resulting in 1.58M action labels with multiple labels per person occurring frequently. The key characteristics of our dataset are: (1) the definition of atomic visual actions, rather than composite actions; (2) precise spatio-temporal annotations with possibly multiple annotations for each person; (3) exhaustive annotation of these atomic actions over 15-minute video clips; (4) people temporally linked across consecutive segments; and (5) using movies to gather a varied set of action representations. This departs from existing datasets for spatio-temporal action recognition, which typically provide sparse annotations for composite actions in short video clips. We will release the dataset publicly. AVA, with its realistic scene and action complexity, exposes the intrinsic difficulty of action recognition. To benchmark this, we present a novel approach for action localization that builds upon the current state-of-the-art methods, and demonstrates better performance on JHMDB and UCF101-24 categories. While setting a new state of the art on existing datasets, the overall results on AVA are low at 15.6% mAP, underscoring the need for developing new approaches for video understanding.Comment: To appear in CVPR 2018. The influence of the choice of ethanol-water volume ratio, concentration of zinc salt, and ZnO buffer layer on the formation andmorphology of Zn5(OH)8(NO3)2⋅2H2O grown from the hydrothermal route was systematically discussed. Experimental resultssuggested that Zn5(OH)8(NO3)2⋅2H2O rectangle sheets and Zn5(OH)8(NO3)2⋅2H2O upright-standing plates were obtained bylimiting ethanol-water volume ratio. The concentration of zinc salt was crucial for getting phase-pure Zn5(OH)8(NO3)2⋅2H2O. Thepresence of ZnO buffer layer could lead to the that chemical composition of product grown on the substrate was totally differentfrom the product grown in the solution. Possible formation mechanism of Zn5(OH)8(NO3)2⋅2H2O was also studied. Ramanspectrum of Zn5(OH)8(NO3)2⋅2H2O displays a complex behavior with four modes, which can be assigned to the vibrationalmodes of Zn–H–O, Zn–O, H2O-nitrate, and nitrate. Porously ZnO rectangle sheets were obtained by thermal treatment ofZn5(OH)8(NO3)2⋅2H2O rectangle sheets

The role of Th17 cells and regulatory T cells in Coxsackievirus B3-induced myocarditis

AbstractIL-17-producing (Th17) and regulatory T (Treg) cells have been well established in the pathogenesis of many inflammatory diseases. To assess whether Th17 and Treg were altered in acute virus-induced myocarditis (AVMC) mice, we assessed Th17/Treg functions on different levels in AVMC. It was shown that the expression of splenic Th17 cells and Th17-related cytokines (IL-17A, IL-21) markedly increased. Interestingly, the expression of splenic Treg cells and Treg-related cytokines (TGF-β, IL-10) also significantly increased. Using neutralization of IL-17 in the AVMC, we found that Treg cells roughly decreased compared with isotype control mice. However, T cells and perforin dramatically increased, followed by a marked reduction in CVB3 replication. The results suggested that Th17 cells possibly contributed to viral replication through the action of Treg cells in mediating T cells and perforin response in AVMC

Quantitative assessment of the associations between XRCC1 polymorphisms and bladder cancer risk

    Get PDF
BACKGROUND: The XRCC1 polymorphisms have been implicated in bladder cancer risk, but individually published studies show inconsistent results. The aim of our study was to clarify the effects of XRCC1 variants on bladder cancer risk. METHODS: A systematic literature search up to September 13, 2012 was carried out in PubMed, EMBASE and Wanfang databases, and the references of retrieved articles were screened. Crude odds ratios with 95% confidence intervals were used to assess the associations between XRCC1 Arg194Trp and Arg399Gln polymorphisms and bladder cancer risk. Heterogeneity and publication bias were also evaluated. RESULTS: A total of 14 and 18 studies were eligible for meta-analyses of Arg194Trp and Arg399Gln, respectively. Regrouping was adopted in accordance with the most probable appropriate genetic models. No obvious heterogeneity between studies was found. For overall bladder cancer, the pooled odds ratios for Arg194Trp and Arg399Gln were 1.69 (95% confidence interval: 1.25 to 2.28; P = 0.001) and 1.10 (95% confidence interval: 1.03 to 1.19; P = 0.008), respectively. After excluding the studies that were not in Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium, the estimated pooled odds ratio still did not change at all. CONCLUSIONS: The meta-analysis results suggest that XRCC1 Arg194Trp and Arg399Gln polymorphisms may be associated with elevated bladder cancer risk

Cyclin-dependent kinase 4 is a novel target in micoRNA-195-mediated cell cycle arrest in bladder cancer cells

AbstractmiRNAs are a class of small-noncoding RNAs capable of negatively regulating gene expression. Here, we found that miR-195 is down-regulated in human bladder cancer tissue versus normal adjacent tissue. To better characterize the role of miR-195 in bladder cancer, we conducted gain of function analysis by transfecting bladder cancer cell line T24 with chemically synthesized miR-195 mimic. We identified CDK4, an early G1 cell cycle regulator, as a novel target of miR-195. Selective over-expression of miR-195 could induce G1-phase arrest in T24 cells, and subsequently inhibit T24 cell growth. These findings indicate that miR-195 could be a potential tumor suppressor in bladder cancer

Drivers of Spatiotemporal Eukaryote Plankton Distribution in a Trans-Basin Water Transfer Canal in China

Planktonic eukaryotes are important components of aquatic ecosystems, and analyses of the whole eukaryotic planktonic community composition and function have far-reaching significance for water resource management. We aimed to understand the spatiotemporal variation and drivers of eukaryotic plankton distribution in the Middle Route Project of the South-to-North Water Diversion in Henan Province, China. Specifically, we examined planktonic assemblages and water quality at five stations along the canal and another one located before the dam in March, June, September, and December 2019. High-throughput sequencing revealed that the eukaryotic plankton community was primarily composed of 53 phyla, 200 genera, and 277 species, with Cryptophyta, Ciliophora, and norank_k_Cryptophyta being the dominant phyla. Redundancy analysis of the eukaryotic community and environmental factors showed that five vital factors affecting eukaryotic plankton distribution were oxidation-reduction potential, nitrate nitrogen, pH, total phosphorus, and water flow velocity. Furthermore, the geographical distribution of eukaryotic communities was consistent with the distance decay model. Importantly, environmental selection dominantly shaped the geographical distribution of the eukaryotic community. In summary, our study elucidates the ecological response of planktonic eukaryotes by identifying the diversity and ecological distribution of planktonic eukaryotes in trans-basin diversion channels

Gut mycobiome dysbiosis contributes to the development of hypertension and its response to immunoglobulin light chains

ObjectivesHuman gut microbiome has gained great attention for its proposed roles in the development of hypertension. The fungal microbiome in the human gut (i.e. the mycobiome) is beginning to gain recognition as a fundamental part of our microbiome. However, the existing knowledge of human mycobiome has never revealed the association between gut mycobiome and hypertension. It is known that inflammation and immunity contribute to human hypertension. Here, we sought to investigate whether gut mycobiome could predict the development of hypertension and its association with immunoglobulin light chains. Methods and materialsParticipants were classified into three cohorts: prehypertension (pre-HTN), hypertension (HTN), and normal-tension (NT) based on their blood pressure. Fresh samples were collected, and the ITS transcribed spacer ribosomal RNA gene sequence was performed. An immunoturbidimetric test was used to examine the serum levels of immunological light chains.ResultsSubjects in both of the states of pre-HTN and HTN had different fungal microbiome community compared to the NT group (FDR<0.05). Slightly higher levels of fungal richness and diversity were observed in the groups of pre-HTN and HTN. The relative abundance of Malassezia increased in the HTN group compared to that in the NT group, and the relative abundance of Mortierella enriched in the NT group. For the pre-HTN group, the relative abundance of Malassezia was positively associated with serum the concentration of light chain (LC) κ (r=0.510, P=0.044); for the HTN group, the relative abundance of Mortierella was positively associated with the serum concentration of LC κ (P<0.05), the relative abundance of Malassezia was positively associated with both the serum concentrations of LC κ and LC λ (r>0.30, P<0.05).ConclusionsOur present study demonstrated that gut fungal dysbiosis occurred in the state of prehypertension, and fungal dysbiosis can predict the dysregulation of serum light chains in hypertension patients. Further study on modulating gut fungal community should be focused on balancing the immunological features in hypertension
