La production d’une identité autochtone en Côte d’Ivoire

Sur la base d’enquêtes réalisées de 2004 à 2007 en milieu rural et urbain, le texte questionne les enjeux et les modalités de construction de l’autochtonie en Côte d’Ivoire. La contribution proposée vise à montrer que l’activation d’une idéologie de l’autochtonie ne se réduit ni aux stratégies électorales des leaders politiques, ni aux enjeux fonciers, tel que la littérature sur la Côte d’Ivoire le présente généralement. Le texte dévoile l’imprégnation de l’ensemble de la société ivoirienne par une idéologie de l’autochtonie. Tout se passe comme si la société ivoirienne du sommet de l’État à l’échelle villageoise est traversée par la quête d’une identité autochtone face aux enjeux politiques. Que ce soit au niveau local des villages ruraux ou urbains, ou encore au niveau national, l’idéologie de l’autochtonie apparaît aujourd’hui comme essentielle pour la légitimité des acteurs.On the basis of some studies operated from 2004 to 2007 in rural and urban area, the text deals with the stakes and the modalities of the construction of the nativeness in Cote d’Ivoire. The contribution proposed, aims at showing that the activation of a nativeness ideology is not reduced to the elections strategies of the political leaders, nor to the land stakes, as generally presented by literature about Cote d’Ivoire. The text reveals the impregnation of the whole Ivorian society through an ideology of a nativeness. Things go on as if the Ivorian society, from the top of the state to the rural ladder, was looking for a quest of a nativeness identity facing the political stakes. At any level, we mean from the rural or urban level to the national level, the ideology of nativeness is fundamental today for the legitimacy of the actors

L’anthropologie sociale dans les universités ivoiriennes entre marginalisation et subordination

Partant du constat actuel de la marginalisation académique et de la subordination de l’anthropologie sociale à la sociologie au sein de l’université ivoirienne, la présente contribution s’intéresse aux déterminants de cette faible visibilité de la discipline dans les universités en Côte d’Ivoire. En effet, la position actuelle de l’anthropologie dans ce contexte national est marquée par un déficit au niveau de l’enseignement de la discipline, une sous‑représentation des anthropologues parmi les enseignants-chercheurs, une faible spécialisation des domaines de recherches anthropologiques et un bas niveau scientifique de la formation. Sur cette base empirique, et de façon spécifique, le texte montre comment le processus de mise en veilleuse de l’anthropologie est lié aux modes de transmission des savoirs anthropologiques et est perceptible à travers la structuration et le fonctionnement de cette discipline au sein des universités ivoiriennes.Taking as its starting point anthropology’s academic marginalisation and subordination to sociology within Ivorian universities, this article examines the determinants of this poor visibility of the discipline. The current position of anthropology in this national context is characterised by a deficit in terms of the teaching of the discipline, an under-representation of anthropologists among university lecturers, weak specialisation of the domains of anthropological research and a low level of scientific training. On this empirical basis, the article shows specifically how the process of putting anthropology on the back burner, as it were, is linked to the modes of transmission of anthropological knowledge and is perceptible in the structuring and functioning of this discipline within Ivorian universities

Les funérailles dans les entreprises ivoiriennes

African funeral pratices are at one time considered as a factor of destabi-lization and of impoverishment, at another time as a factor of social interaction and of cultural reproduction. Within Côte-d'Ivoire firms, the conflicts, the strategies of the managers and of the workers and the various forms of mobilizing financial resources that the funerals create, allow to assert that it is a major link between work and the sphere outside of work. The stakes of funeral expenses are such that the «solidarity funds », whose organization was at the beginning mainly motivated by the taking over of these expenses, are now part of the «normal » working conditions of Ivoirien firms and have become inescapable for the human resources administrators.On considère tantôt les pratiques funéraires africaines comme un facteur de déstabilisation et d'appauvrissement, tantôt comme un facteur de convivialité et de reproduction culturelle. Au sein des entreprises ivoiriennes, les conflits, les stratégies (ouvrières et patronales) et les diverses formes de mobilisation de ressources financières que suscitent les funérailles, permettent d'affirmer que l'on a affaire à une articulation majeure entre le travail et le hors-travail. L'enjeu des dépenses funéraires est tel que les «caisses de solidarité », dont la mise en place est, au départ, essentiellement motivée par la prise en charge de ces dépenses, font aujourd'hui partie des conditions «normales » de fonctionnement des entreprises ivoiriennes et leur mise en place est devenue incontournable pour les gestionnaires des ressources humaines.Yao Gnabéli Roch.
