Universally-composable finite-key analysis for efficient four-intensity decoy-state quantum key distribution

We propose an efficient four-intensity decoy-state BB84 protocol and derive concise security bounds for this protocol with the universally composable finite-key analysis method. Comparing with the efficient three-intensity protocol, we find that our efficient four-intensity protocol can increase the secret key rate by at least 30%30\%. Particularly, this increasing rate of secret key rate will be raised as the transmission distance increases. At a large transmission distance, our efficient four-intensity protocol can improve the performance of quantum key distribution profoundly.Comment: accepted by Eur. Phys. J.

Magic wavelengths for the 6s^2\,^1S_0-6s6p\,^3P_1^o transition in ytterbium atom

The static and dynamic electric-dipole polarizabilities of the 6s^2\,^1S_0 and 6s6p\,^3P_1^o states of Yb are calculated by using the relativistic ab initio method. Focusing on the red detuning region to the 6s^2\,^1S_0-6s6p\,^3P_1^o transition, we find two magic wavelengths at 1035.7(2) nm and 612.9(2) nm for the 6s^2\,^1S_0-6s6p\,^3P_1^o, M_J=0 transition and three magic wavelengthes at 1517.68(6) nm, 1036.0(3) nm and 858(12) nm for the 6s^2\,^1S_0-6s6p\,^3P_1^o, M_J=\pm1 transitions. Such magic wavelengths are of particular interest for attaining the state-insensitive cooling, trapping, and quantum manipulation of neutral Yb atom.Comment: 13 pages, 3 figure

Individual position diversity in dependence socioeconomic networks increases economic output

The availability of big data recorded from massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) allows us to gain a deeper understanding of the potential connection between individuals' network positions and their economic outputs. We use a statistical filtering method to construct dependence networks from weighted friendship networks of individuals. We investigate the 30 distinct motif positions in the 13 directed triadic motifs which represent microscopic dependences among individuals. Based on the structural similarity of motif positions, we further classify individuals into different groups. The node position diversity of individuals is found to be positively correlated with their economic outputs. We also find that the economic outputs of leaf nodes are significantly lower than that of the other nodes in the same motif. Our findings shed light on understanding the influence of network structure on economic activities and outputs in socioeconomic system.Comment: 19 pages, 5 figure

Variable Weighted Ordered Subset Image Reconstruction Algorithm

    Get PDF
We propose two variable weighted iterative reconstruction algorithms (VW-ART and VW-OS-SART) to improve the algebraic reconstruction technique (ART) and simultaneous algebraic reconstruction technique (SART) and establish their convergence. In the two algorithms, the weighting varies with the geometrical direction of the ray. Experimental results with both numerical simulation and real CT data demonstrate that the VW-ART has a significant improvement in the quality of reconstructed images over ART and OS-SART. Moreover, both VW-ART and VW-OS-SART are more promising in convergence speed than the ART and SART, respectively

QCD corrections to the R-parity violating processes ppˉ/pp→eμ+Xp\bar{p}/pp \to e\mu+X at hadron colliders

We present the QCD corrections to the processes ppˉ/pp→eμ+Xp\bar{p}/pp \to e\mu+X at the Tevatron and the CERN large hadron collider(LHC). The numerical results show that variation of K factor is in the range between 1.28(1.32)1.28(1.32) and 1.79(1.58)1.79(1.58) at the Tevatron(LHC). We find that the QCD correction part from the one-loop gluon-gluon fusion subprocess is remarkable at the LHC and should be taken into account.Comment: 7 pages, 6 Postscript figures, to be appeared in Phy.
