Nonlinear magnetization dynamics of antiferromagnetic spin resonance induced by intense terahertz magnetic field
We report on the nonlinear magnetization dynamics of a HoFeO3 crystal induced
by a strong terahertz magnetic field resonantly enhanced with a split ring
resonator and measured with magneto-optical Kerr effect microscopy. The
terahertz magnetic field induces a large change (~40%) in the spontaneous
magnetization. The frequency of the antiferromagnetic resonance decreases in
proportion to the square of the magnetization change. A modified
Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation with a phenomenological nonlinear damping term
quantitatively reproduced the nonlinear dynamics
Single photon absorption by a single quantum emitter
We show that a three-level lambda quantum emitter with equal spontaneous
emission rates on both optically active transitions can absorb an incident
light field with a probability approaching unity, provided that the focused
light profile matches that of the emitter dipole emission pattern. Even with
realistic focusing geometries, our results could find applications in
long-distance entanglement of spin qubits.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
Evidence for Carrier-Induced High-Tc Ferromagnetism in Mn-doped GaN film
A GaN film doped with 8.2 % Mn was grown by the molecular-beam-epitaxy
technique. Magnetization measurements show that this highly Mn-doped GaN film
exhibits ferromagnetism above room temperature. It is also revealed that the
high-temperature ferromagnetic state is significantly suppressed below 10 K,
accompanied by an increase of the electrical resistivity with decreasing
temperature. This observation clearly demonstrates a close relation between the
ferromagnetism with extremely high-Tc and the carrier transport in the Mn-doped
GaN film.Comment: 9 pages, 3 figure
