    Microscopic theory of magnon-drag electron flow in ferromagnetic metals

    A temperature gradient applied to a ferromagnetic metal induces not only independent flows of electrons and magnons but also drag currents because of their mutual interaction. In this paper, we present a microscopic study of the electron flow induced by the drag due to magnons. The analysis is based on the s-d model, which describes conduction electrons and magnons coupled via the s-d exchange interaction. Magnetic impurities are introduced in the electron subsystem as a source of spin relaxation. The obtained magnon-drag electron current is proportional to the entropy of magnons and to α-β (more precisely, to 1-β/α), where α is the Gilbert damping constant and β is the dissipative spin-transfer torque parameter. This result almost coincides with the previous phenomenological result based on the magnonic spin-motive forces, and consists of spin-transfer and momentum-transfer contributions, but with a slight disagreement in the former. The result is interpreted in terms of the nonequilibrium spin chemical potential generated by nonequilibrium magnons.</p

    Learning Deductive Reasoning from Synthetic Corpus based on Formal Logic

    We study a synthetic corpus-based approach for language models (LMs) to acquire logical deductive reasoning ability. The previous studies generated deduction examples using specific sets of deduction rules. However, these rules were limited or otherwise arbitrary. This can limit the generalizability of acquired deductive reasoning ability. We rethink this and adopt a well-grounded set of deduction rules based on formal logic theory, which can derive any other deduction rules when combined in a multistep way. We empirically verify that LMs trained on the proposed corpora, which we name FLD\textbf{FLD} (F\textbf{F}ormal L\textbf{L}ogic D\textbf{D}eduction), acquire more generalizable deductive reasoning ability. Furthermore, we identify the aspects of deductive reasoning ability on which deduction corpora can enhance LMs and those on which they cannot. Finally, on the basis of these results, we discuss the future directions for applying deduction corpora or other approaches for each aspect. We release the code, data, and models

    Perioperative Management of Hemophilia A Using Recombinant Factor VIII in Patients Undergoing Major or Minor Surgery

    Among the surgical treatments performed in patients with hemophilia, joint surgery for intra-articular bleeding is the most time-consuming. Previous reports describe the perioperative management of hemophiliacs undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting or of those undergoing cystectomy for treatment of hematuria. In the former study, the patient was elderly; in the latter study, the authors concluded that cystectomy in hemophiliacs is safe if monitored appropriately and that urinary diversion using the intestine should be avoided because anastomotic hemorrhaging may occur.
