A modified bats echolocation-based algorithm for solving constrained optimisation problems

    Get PDF
A modified adaptive bats sonar algorithm (MABSA) is presented that utilises the concept of echolocation of a colony of bats to find prey. The proposed algorithm is applied to solve the constrained optimisation problems coupled with penalty function method as constraint handling technique. The performance of the algorithm is verified through rigorous tests with four constrained optimisation benchmark test functions. The acquired results show that the proposed algorithm performs better to find optimum solution in terms of accuracy and convergence speed. The statistical results of MABSA to solve all the test functions also has been compared with the results from several existing algorithms taken from literature on similar test functions. The comparative study has shown that MABSA outperforms other establish algorithms, and thus, it can be an efficient alternative method in the solving constrained optimisation problems

Entanglement fidelity for electron-electron interaction in strongly coupled semiclassical plasma and under external fields

This paper presents the effects of AB-flux field and electric field on electron-electron interaction, encircled by a strongly coupled semiclassical plasma. We found that weak external fields are required to perpetuate a low-energy elastic electron-electron interaction in a strongly coupled semiclassical plasma. The entanglement fidelity in the interaction process has been examined. We have used partial wave analysis to derive the entanglement fidelity. We found that for a weak electric field, the fidelity ratio for electron-electron interaction increase as projectile energy increase but remains constant or almost zero for a strong electric field. Our results provide an invaluable information on how the efficiency of entanglement fidelity for a low-energy elastic electron-electron interaction in a strongly coupled semiclassical plasma can be influenced by the presence of external fields

Self-Timed Rings: A Promising Solution for Generating High-Speed High Resolution Low-Phase Noise Clocks

International audienceA high-speed multi-phase oscillator based on self-timed ring is proposed. Self-timed rings (STR) are promising approach for designing high-speed serial links and clock generators. Indeed, the architecture of STR allows us to achieve high frequencies with multiphase outputs and their oscillation frequency is not only depending on the number of stages but also on the initial state of the ring. Moreover, this architecture allows us 3 dB phase noise reduction when, while keeping the same frequency, when the stage number is doubled. In this chapter, we propose a method to design STR able to generate high-speed multi-phase outputs and we suggest a design flow for designing low-phase noise self-timed ring oscillators. A test chip has been designed and fabricated in STMicroelectonics CMOS65nm technology to verify the theoretical claims and validate the simulation results

Apply Binary Logistic Regression Model to Recognize the Risk Factors of Diabetes through Measuring Glycated Hemoglobin Levels

This study aimed to identify diabetes risk factors in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and explain why diabetes is rapidly spreading there, which examined some sociodemographic characteristics factors that might affect type 2 diabetes such as age, gender, alcohol consumption, and smoking, diabetes family history, and body weight. The data was collected from the hospital of diabetes named the center of diabetes in Sulaymaniyah city of Iraq, in which 218 diabetic cases were used for that purpose. According to the findings, some factors influence type 2 diabetes, such as Gender, Smoking, and Body Weight. For Gender, Females are more likely to have diabetes than males. Also, someone that smokes is more likely to have diabetes than those who do not smoke. Furthermore, with increasing each kilogram of body weight, the diabetes degree increases as well. On the other hand, regarding the results, some factors such as Age, Consumption of Alcoholic, and Diabetes Family History do not affect type 2 diabetes. Depending on the findings, it is recommended that people engage in regular physical activity and consume nutritious foods to minimize weight gain, which is one of the primary causes of diabetes as well as they should quit smoking

The effect of wastewater disposal on the water quality and phytoplankton in Erbil wastewater channel.

In this study, phytoplankton density, chlorophyll-a, and selected physico- chemical parameters were investigated in Erbil wastewater channel. The surveys were carried out monthly from May 2003 to April 2004. Samplings were established on three sites from headwaters to the mouth. The results showed that pH was in alkaline side of neutrality, with significant differences (
