An Assessment on Credit Card Fraud Detection: Survey

    Get PDF
Credit card fraud is a costly problem for many financial institutions, costing businesses billions of dollars a year. Many adversaries still escape fraud detection systems because these systems often do not include information about the adversary's knowledge of the fraud detection mechanism. This thesis aims to include information on the motivations of "crooks" and the knowledge base in an adaptive fraud detection system. In this thesis, we use a theoretical adversarial learning approach to classification to model the best fraudster strategy. We proactively adapt the fraud detection system to classify these future fraudulent transactions better. Therefore, this document aims to provide an over-supervised bird's-eye approach with a suitable feature extraction technique that improves fraud detection rather than mistakenly classifying an actual transaction as fraud

A Ratio-cum-Dual to Ratio Estimator of Population Variance Using Qualitative Auxiliary Information Under Simple Random Sampling

In this paper we have proposed a class of ratio-cum-dual to ratio estimators for estimating population variance of the variable under study, using known values of some population parameters of auxiliary variable, which is available in the form of an attribute. The expressions for the bias and mean squared error of the proposed estimators have been derived up to the first order of approximation. A comparison has been made with some well-known estimators of population variance available in the literature when auxiliary information is in qualitative form. It has been shown that the proposed estimator is better than the existing estimators under the optimum condition. For illustration, an empirical study has been carried out

Organochlorine pesticides application, xenobiotic metabolizing gene polymorphism and incidences of cancers in India: a review

Excessive application of pesticides on crops has been noticed to gain maximum yield. It results in heavy damage to human health as well as environment. Pesticides application beyond permissible limit has detrimental effects on ecosystem. Organochlorine compounds are widely used as pest controller. These are considered as substantial environmental pollutant and carcinogens due to their extensive environmental release. There are sufficient numbers of studies that supports positive co-relation of organochlorine pesticides with cancer. To evaluate these detrimental effects on human health we have reviewed various studies and concluded the positive co-relation of organochloro compounds with cancers. In this study, the altered metabolism effects of organochlorine pesticides on cytochrome P450 enzyme have been observed
