Critical behaviors near the (tri-)critical end point of QCD within the NJL model

We investigate the dynamical chiral symmetry breaking and its restoration at finite density and temperature within the two-flavor Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model, and mainly focus on the critical behaviors near the critical end point (CEP) and tricritical point (TCP) of quantum chromodynamics. The multi-solution region of the Nambu and Wigner ones is determined in the phase diagram for the massive and massless current quark, respectively. We use the various susceptibilities to locate the CEP/TCP and then extract the critical exponents near them. Our calculations reveal that the various susceptibilities share the same critical behaviors for the physical current quark mass, while they show different features in the chiral limit

Formation of in-volume nanogratings with sub-100 nm periods in glass by femtosecond laser irradiation

We present direct experimental observation of the morphological evolution during the formation of nanogratings with sub-100-nm periods with the increasing number of pulses. Theoretical simulation shows that the constructive interference of the scattering light from original nanoplanes will create an intensity maximum located between the two adjacent nanoplanes, resulting in shortening of the nanograting period by half. The proposed mechanism enables explaining the formation of nanogratings with periods beyond that predicted by the nanoplasmonic model.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure

Contributions of K0∗(1430)K_0^*(1430) and K0∗(1950)K_0^*(1950) in the charmed three-body BB meson decays

In this work, we investigate the resonant contributions of K0∗(1430)K_0^*(1430) and K0∗(1950)K_0^*(1950) in the three-body B(s)→D(s)KπB_{(s)}\to D_{(s)}K\pi within the perturbative QCD approach. The form factor Fkπ(s)F_{k\pi}(s) are adopted to describe the nonperturbative dynamics of the S-wave KπK\pi system. The branching ratios of all concerned decays are calculated and predicted to be in the order of 10−1010^{-10} to 10−510^{-5}. The ratio RR of branching fractions between B0→Dˉ0K0∗0(1430)→Dˉ0K+π−B^0\to \bar{D}^0 K_0^{*0}(1430) \to \bar{D}^0K^+\pi^- and Bs0→Dˉ0Kˉ0∗0(1430)→Dˉ0K−π+B_s^0 \to \bar{D}^0 \bar{K}_0^{*0}(1430)\to \bar{D}^0K^-\pi^+ are predicted to be 0.0552, which implies the discrepancy for the LHCb measurements. We expect that the predictions in this work can be tested by the future experiments, especially, to resolve RR ratio discrepancy

A novel arabinose-inducible genetic operation system developed for Clostridium cellulolyticum

<p> Background: Clostridium cellulolyticum and other cellulolytic Clostridium strains are natural producers of lignocellulosic biofuels and chemicals via the consolidated bioprocessing (CBP) route, and systems metabolic engineering is indispensable to meet the cost-efficient demands of industry. Several genetic tools have been developed for Clostridium strains, and an efficient and stringent inducible genetic operation system is still required for the precise regulation of the target gene function.</p
