Correlation between projection of the ear, the inferior crus, and the antihelical body: Analysis based on computed tomography

K3 surfaces and log del Pezzo surfaces of index three
We use classification of non-symplectic automorphisms of K3 surfaces to
obtain a partial classification of log del Pezzo surfaces of index three. We
can classify those with "Multiple Smooth Divisor Property", whose definition we
will give. Our methods include the definition of right resolutions of quotient
singularities of index three and some analysis of automorphism-stable elliptic
fibrations on K3 surfaces. In particular we find several log del Pezzo surfaces
of Picard number one with non-toric singularities of index three.Comment: 32 pages, to appear in Manuscripta Mat
New Seiberg Dualities from N=2 Dualities
We propose a number of new Seiberg dualities of N=1 quiver gauge theories.
The new Seiberg dualities originate in new S-dualities of N=2 superconformal
field theories recently proposed by Gaiotto. N=2 S-dual theories deformed by
suitable mass terms flow to our N=1 Seiberg dual theories. We show that the
number of exactly marginal operators is universal for these Seiberg dual
theories and the 't Hooft anomaly matching holds for these theories. These
provide strong evidence for the new Seiberg dualities. Furthermore, we study in
detail the Klebanov-Witten type theory and its dual as a concrete example. We
show that chiral operators and their non-linear relations match between these
theories. These arguments also give non-trivial consistency checks for our

Gauge Mediation with D-term SUSY Breaking
We construct a gauge-mediation model with a D-term supersymmetry (SUSY)
breaking. R-symmetry breaking necessary for generating the SUSY standard-model
gaugino masses is given by gaugino condensation of a strongly coupled gauge
theory in the hidden sector. The energy scale of the strong dynamics of the
hidden sector gauge theory should be around the messenger mass scale M, or
otherwise perturbative calculations would be reliable and would lead to
negative soft mass squared for squarks and sleptons. Thus, all the mass scales
are controlled by a virtually single parameter, \sqrt{D}/M. This model covers a
very wide range of gravitino mass, m_{3/2} \simeq 1 eV--100 TeV. Possible

Macdonald operators and homological invariants of the colored Hopf link
Using a power sum (boson) realization for the Macdonald operators, we
investigate the Gukov, Iqbal, Kozcaz and Vafa (GIKV) proposal for the
homological invariants of the colored Hopf link, which include
Khovanov-Rozansky homology as a special case. We prove the polynomiality of the
invariants obtained by GIKV's proposal for arbitrary representations. We derive
a closed formula of the invariants of the colored Hopf link for antisymmetric
representations. We argue that a little amendment of GIKV's proposal is
required to make all the coefficients of the polynomial non-negative integers.Comment: 31 pages. Published version with an additional appendi
Self-shielding effect of a single phase liquid xenon detector for direct dark matter search
Liquid xenon is a suitable material for a dark matter search. For future
large scale experiments, single phase detectors are attractive due to their
simple configuration and scalability. However, in order to reduce backgrounds,
they need to fully rely on liquid xenon's self-shielding property. A prototype
detector was developed at Kamioka Observatory to establish vertex and energy
reconstruction methods and to demonstrate the self-shielding power against
gamma rays from outside of the detector. Sufficient self-shielding power for
future experiments was obtained.Comment: 8 pages, 8 figure
Single- and few-layer graphene growth on stainless steel substrates by direct thermal chemical vapor deposition
Steeping interest on graphene research in basic sciences and applications
emphasizes the need for an economical means of synthesizing it. We report a
method for the synthesis of graphene on commercially available stainless steel
foils using direct thermal chemical vapor deposition. Our method of synthesis
and the use of relatively cheap precursors such as ethanol (CH3CH2OH) as a
source of carbon and SS 304 as the substrate, proved to be economically viable.
Presence of single- and few-layer graphene was confirmed using confocal Raman
microscopy/spectroscopy. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic measurements were
further used to establish the influence of various elemental species present in
stainless steel on graphene growth. Role of cooling rate on surface migration
of certain chemical species (oxides of Fe, Cr and Mn) that promote or hinder
the growth of graphene is probed. Such analysis of the chemical species present
on the surface can be promising for graphene based catalytic research
