Polar supermultiplets, Hermitian symmetric spaces and hyperkahler metrics

We address the construction of four-dimensional N=2 supersymmetric nonlinear sigma models on tangent bundles of arbitrary Hermitian symmetric spaces starting from projective superspace. Using a systematic way of solving the (infinite number of) auxiliary field equations along with the requirement of supersymmetry, we are able to derive a closed form for the Lagrangian on the tangent bundle and to dualize it to give the hyperkahler potential on the cotangent bundle. As an application, the case of the exceptional symmetric space E_6/SO(10) \times U(1) is explicitly worked out for the first time.Comment: 17 page

Monolithic Ge:Ga Detector Development for SAFARI

We describe the current status and the prospect for the development of monolithic Ge:Ga array detector for SAFARI. Our goal is to develop a 64x64 array for the 45 -- 110 um band, on the basis of existing technologies to make 3x20 monolithic arrays for the AKARI satellite. For the AKARI detector we have achieved a responsivity of 10 A/W and a read-out noise limited NEP (noise equivalent power) of 10^-17 W/rHz. We plan to develop the detector for SAFARI with technical improvements; significantly reduced read-out noise with newly developed cold read-out electronics, mitigated spectral fringes as well as optical cross-talks with a multi-layer antireflection coat. Since most of the elemental technologies to fabricate the detector are flight-proven, high technical readiness levels (TRLs) should be achieved for fabricating the detector with the above mentioned technical demonstrations. We demonstrate some of these elemental technologies showing results of measurements for test coatings and prototype arrays.Comment: To appear in Proc. Occupation probability of harmonic-oscillator quanta for microscopic cluster-model wave functions

We present a new and simple method of calculating the occupation probability of the number of total harmonic-oscillator quanta for a microscopic cluster-model wave function. Examples of applications are given to the recent calculations including α+n+n\alpha+n+n-model for 6^6He, α+t+n+n\alpha+t+n+n-model for 9^9Li, and α+α+n\alpha+\alpha+n-model for 9^9Be as well as the classical calculations of α+p+n\alpha+p+n-model for 6^6Li and α+α+α\alpha+\alpha+\alpha-model for 12^{12}C. The analysis is found to be useful for quantifying the amount of excitations across the major shell as well as the degree of clustering. The origin of the antistretching effect is discussed.Comment: 9 page

Development and a SEU Test of a TDC LSI for the ATLAS Muon Detector

    Get PDF
A new TDC LSI (AMT-2) for the ATLAS Muon detector has been developed. The AMT-2 chip is a successor of the previous prototype chip (AMT-1). The design of the chip was polished up for aiming mass production of 20,000 chips in year 2002. Especially, power consumption of the chip was reduced to less than half of the previous chip by introducing newly developed LVDS receivers. The AMT-2 was processed in a 0.3 mu m CMOS Gate-Array technology. It achieved 300 ps timing resolution and includes several data buffers, trigger matching circuit, JTAG interface and so on. First SEU test by using a proton beam was recently performed. Although the test results are very preliminary at present stage, we get very low SEU rate safely used in ATLAS environment. (7 refs)
