Density-matrix renormalization group study of pairing when electron-electron and electron-phonon interactions coexist: effect of the electronic band structure
Density-matrix renormalization group is used to study the pairing when both
of electron-electron and electron-phonon interactions are strong in the
Holstein-Hubbard model at half-filling in a region intermediate between the
adiabatic (Migdal's) and antiadiabatic limits. We have found: (i) the pairing
correlation obtained for a one-dimensional system is nearly degenerate with the
CDW correlation in a region where the phonon-induced attraction is comparable
with the electron-electron repulsion, but (ii) pairing becomes dominant when we
destroy the electron-hole symmetry in a trestle lattice. This provides an
instance in which pairing can arise, in a lattice-structure dependent manner,
from coexisting electron-electron and electron-phonon interactions.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures; to appear in Phys. Rev. Let
Exact Analysis of ESR Shift in the Spin-1/2 Heisenberg Antiferromagnetic Chain
A systematic perturbation theory is developed for the ESR shift and is
applied to the spin-1/2 Heisenberg chain. Using the Bethe ansatz technique, we
exactly analyze the resonance shift in the first order of perturbative
expansion with respect to an anisotropic exchange interaction. Exact result for
the whole range of temperature and magnetic field, as well as asymptotic
behavior in the low-temperature limit are presented. The obtained g-shift
strongly depends on magnetic fields at low temperature, showing a significant
deviation from the previous classical result.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures,to be published in Phys. Rev. Let
Ordered phase and scaling in models and the three-state antiferromagnetic Potts model in three dimensions
Based on a Renormalization-Group picture of symmetric models in three
dimensions, we derive a scaling law for the order parameter in the
ordered phase. An existing Monte Carlo calculation on the three-state
antiferromagnetic Potts model, which has the effective symmetry, is shown
to be consistent with the proposed scaling law. It strongly supports the
Renormalization-Group picture that there is a single massive ordered phase,
although an apparently rotationally symmetric region in the intermediate
temperature was observed numerically.Comment: 5 pages in REVTEX, 2 PostScript figure
Comparison of crystal structures and effects of Co substitution in a new member of Fe-1111 superconductor family AeFeAsF(Ae = Ca and Sr): a possible candidate for higher Tc superconductor
We refined crystal structures of newly found members of the Fe-1111
superconductor family, CaFe\_{1-x}Co\_{x}AsF and SrFe\_{1-x}Co\_{x}AsF (x = 0,
0.06, 0.12) by powder synchrotron X-ray diffraction analysis. The tetragonal to
orthorhombic phase transitions were observed at ~120 K for unsubstituted
CaFeAsF and at ~180 K for unsubstituted SrFeAsF, the transition temperatures
agreeing with kinks observed in temperature-dependent resistivity curves.
Although the transition temperature decreases, the structural phase transitions
were observed below 100 K in both samples of x = 0.06, and finally they were
suppressed in the doping level of x = 0.12. The refined structures reveal that
distortions of the FeAs4 tetrahedron from the regular tetrahedron likely
originate from mismatches in atomic radii among the constituent elements. In
this system, the enlarged FeAs4 tetrahedron resulting from larger radius of Sr
than that of Ca is flattened along a-b plane, whereas the smaller radius of Ca
makes the tetrahedron closer to regular one, and their characteristic shapes
are further enhanced by Co substitution. These results suggest that the CaFeAsF
compound is a promising candidate for higher-Tc superconductor.Comment: 17 pages, 8 figures, 2 tables, Supplementary information is included
