Abelian Functions for Trigonal Curves of Genus Three

We develop the theory of generalized Weierstrass sigma- and \wp-functions defined on a trigonal curve of genus three. In particular we give a list of the associated partial differential equations satisfied by the \wp-functions, a proof that the coefficients of the power series expansion of the sigma-function are polynomials of moduli parameters, and the derivation of two addition formulae.Comment: 32 pages, no figures. Revised version has the a fuller description of the general (3,4) trigonal curve results, the first version described only the "Purely Trigonal" cas

Abelian Functions for Cyclic Trigonal Curves of Genus Four

We discuss the theory of generalized Weierstrass σ\sigma and \wp functions defined on a trigonal curve of genus four, following earlier work on the genus three case. The specific example of the "purely trigonal" (or "cyclic trigonal") curve y3=x5+λ4x4+λ3x3+λ2x2+λ1x+λ0y^3=x^5+\lambda_4 x^4 +\lambda_3 x^3+\lambda_2 x^2 +\lambda_1 x+\lambda_0 is discussed in detail, including a list of some of the associated partial differential equations satisfied by the \wp functions, and the derivation of an addition formulae.Comment: 23 page

Hyperelliptic Solutions of KdV and KP equations: Reevaluation of Baker's Study on Hyperelliptic Sigma Functions

Explicit function forms of hyperelliptic solutions of Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) and \break Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) equations were constructed for a given curve y2=f(x)y^2 = f(x) whose genus is three. This study was based upon the fact that about one hundred years ago (Acta Math. (1903) {\bf{27}}, 135-156), H. F. Baker essentially derived KdV hierarchy and KP equation by using bilinear differential operator D{\bold{D}}, identities of Pfaffians, symmetric functions, hyperelliptic σ\sigma-function and \wp-functions; μν=μνlogσ\wp_{\mu \nu} = -\partial_\mu \partial_\nu \log \sigma =(DμDνσσ)/2σ2= - ({\bold{D}}_\mu {\bold{D}}_\nu \sigma \sigma)/2\sigma^2. The connection between his theory and the modern soliton theory was also discussed.Comment: AMS-Tex, 12 page

    Deriving bases for Abelian functions

We present a new method to explicitly define Abelian functions associated with algebraic curves, for the purpose of finding bases for the relevant vector spaces of such functions. We demonstrate the procedure with the functions associated with a trigonal curve of genus four. The main motivation for the construction of such bases is that it allows systematic methods for the derivation of the addition formulae and differential equations satisfied by the functions. We present a new 3-term 2-variable addition formulae and a complete set of differential equations to generalise the classic Weierstrass identities for the case of the trigonal curve of genus four.Comment: 35page

Abelian functions associated with a cyclic tetragonal curve of genus six

We develop the theory of Abelian functions defined using a tetragonal curve of genus six, discussing in detail the cyclic curve y^4 = x^5 + λ[4]x^4 + λ[3]x^3 + λ[2]x^2 + λ[1]x + λ[0]. We construct Abelian functions using the multivariate sigma-function associated with the curve, generalizing the theory of theWeierstrass℘-function. We demonstrate that such functions can give a solution to the KP-equation, outlining how a general class of solutions could be generated using a wider class of curves. We also present the associated partial differential equations satisfied by the functions, the solution of the Jacobi inversion problem, a power series expansion for σ(u) and a new addition formula

Abstract We develop the theory of Abelian functions associated with algebraic curves. The growth in computer power and the advancement of efficient symbolic computation techniques have allowed for recent progress in this area. In this paper we focus on the genus three cases, comparing the two canonical classes of hyperelliptic and trigonal curves. We present new addition formulae, derive bases for the spaces of Abelian functions and discuss the differential equations such functions satisfy

Division polynomials and canonical local heights on hyperelliptic Jacobians

We generalize the division polynomials of elliptic curves to hyperelliptic Jacobians over the complex numbers. We construct them by using the hyperelliptic sigma function. Using the division polynomial, we describe a condition that a point on the Jacobian is a torsion point. We prove several properties of the division polynomials such as determinantal expressions and recurrence formulas. We also study relations among the sigma function, the division polynomials, and the canonical local height functions
