    Network-Based Gene Expression Biomarkers for Cold and Heat Patterns of Rheumatoid Arthritis in Traditional Chinese Medicine

    In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) can be classified into two main patterns: cold-pattern and heat-pattern. This paper identified the network-based gene expression biomarkers for both cold- and heat-patterns of RA. Gene expression profilings of CD4+ T cells from cold-pattern RA patients, heat-pattern RA patients, and healthy volunteers were obtained using microarray. The differentially expressed genes and related networks were explored using DAVID, GeneSpring software, and the protein-protein interactions (PPI) method. EIF4A2, CCNT1, and IL7R, which were related to the up-regulation of cell proliferation and the Jak-STAT cascade, were significant gene biomarkers of the TCM cold pattern of RA. PRKAA1, HSPA8, and LSM6, which were related to fatty acid metabolism and the I-κB kinase/NF-κB cascade, were significant biomarkers of the TCM heat-pattern of RA. The network-based gene expression biomarkers for the TCM cold- and heat-patterns may be helpful for the further stratification of RA patients when deciding on interventions or clinical trials

    The Protective Effect of Yi Shen Juan Bi Pill in Arthritic Rats with Castration-Induced Kidney Deficiency

    Androgens have been linked to the onset, severity, and progression of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the most common pattern in RA is kidney deficiency, which partly corresponds to a low sex hormone state. In this study, TCM kidney deficiency was induced in male Sprague-Dawley rats with castration surgery, and a TCM preparation, Yi Shen Juan Bi Pill (YJB), was used to treat collagen induced arthritis (CIA) rats with castration. Metabolomic technique was used to evaluate the pharmacological mechanism in castrated CIA rats treated by YJB. The results showed that castration significantly increased the severity of the arthritis in rats but was ameliorated by YJB. Its pharmacological mechanism was partially associated with lipid metabolites involving free fatty acid (FFA) and lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC). In conclusion, the experimental results demonstrate the protective effect of YJB on the TCM kidney deficiency pattern induced by androgen deficiency in CIA rats and support that YJB should be used for the clinical treatment of RA with TCM kidney deficiency pattern

    Measurement of the e+eKS0KL0π0e^{+}e^{-} \to K_{S}^{0} K_{L}^{0} \pi^{0} cross sections from s=\sqrt{s}= 2.000 to 3.080 GeV

    Based on e+ee^{+}e^{-} collision data collected at center-of-mass energies from 2.000 to 3.080 GeV by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, a partial wave analysis is performed for the process e+eKS0KL0π0e^{+}e^{-}\to K_{S}^{0} K_{L}^{0} \pi^{0}. The results allow the Born cross sections of the process e+eKS0KL0π0e^{+}e^{-}\to K_{S}^{0} K_{L}^{0} \pi^{0}, as well as its subprocesses e+eK(892)0Kˉe^{+}e^{-}\to K^{*}(892)^{0}\bar{K} and K2(1430)0KˉK^{*}_{2}(1430)^{0}\bar{K} to be measured. The Born cross sections for e+eKS0KL0π0e^{+}e^{-}\to K_{S}^{0} K_{L}^{0}\pi^{0} are consistent with previous measurements by BaBar and SND, but with substantially improved precision. The Born cross section lineshape of the process e+eK(892)0Kˉe^{+}e^{-}\to K^{*}(892)^{0}\bar{K} is consistent with a vector meson state around 2.2 GeV with a statistical significance of 3.2σ\sigma. A Breit-Wigner fit determines its mass as MY=(2164.1±9.6±3.1) MeV/c2M_Y=(2164.1\pm9.6\pm3.1)~{\rm{MeV}}/c^{2} and its width as ΓY=(32.4±21.1±1.5) MeV\Gamma_{Y}=(32.4\pm21.1\pm1.5)~\rm{MeV}, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones are systematic, respectively

    Partial Wave Analysis of J/ψγγϕJ/\psi\rightarrow \gamma \gamma \phi

    Using a sample of (10087±44)×106(10087\pm44)\times10^{6} J/ψJ/\psi events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, a partial wave analysis on the decay γγϕ\gamma\gamma\phi is performed to investigate the intermediate resonances in J/ψγX,XγϕJ/\psi\rightarrow\gamma X, X\rightarrow\gamma\phi. The resonances f1(1285)f_{1}(1285), η(1405)\eta(1405), f1(1420)f_{1}(1420), f1(1510)f_{1}(1510), f2(1525)f_{2}(1525), X(1835)X(1835), f2(1950)f_{2}(1950), f2(2010)f_{2}(2010), f0(2200)f_{0}(2200) and ηc\eta_{c} are observed with statistical significance greater than 5σ\sigma. The product branching fractions B(J/ψγX,Xγϕ)\mathcal{B}(J/\psi\rightarrow\gamma X, X\rightarrow \gamma \phi) are reported. The resonance parameters of η(1405)\eta(1405) and X(1835)X(1835) are also measured

    Updated measurements of the M1 transition ψ(3686)γηc(2S)\psi(3686) \to \gamma \eta_{c}(2S) with ηc(2S)KKˉπ\eta_{c}(2S) \to K \bar{K} \pi

    Based on a data sample of (27.08±0.14)×108 ψ(3686)(27.08 \pm 0.14 ) \times 10^8~\psi(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, the M1 transition ψ(3686)γηc(2S)\psi(3686) \to \gamma \eta_{c}(2S) with ηc(2S)KKˉπ\eta_{c}(2S) \to K\bar{K}\pi is studied, where KKˉπK\bar{K}\pi is K+Kπ0K^{+} K^{-} \pi^{0} or KS0K±πK_{S}^{0}K^{\pm}\pi^{\mp}. The mass and width of the ηc(2S)\eta_{c}(2S) are measured to be (3637.8±0.8(stat)±0.2(syst))(3637.8 \pm 0.8 (\rm {stat}) \pm 0.2 (\rm {syst})) MeV/c2c^{2} and (10.5±1.7(stat)±3.5(syst))(10.5 \pm 1.7 (\rm {stat}) \pm 3.5 (\rm {syst})) MeV, respectively. The product branching fraction B(ψ(3686)γηc(2S))×B(ηc(2S)KKˉπ)\mathcal{B}\left(\psi(3686) \rightarrow \gamma \eta_{c}(2 S)\right) \times \mathcal{B}(\eta_{c}(2 S) \rightarrow K \bar{K} \pi) is determined to be (0.97±0.06(stat)±0.09(syst))×105(0.97 \pm 0.06 (\rm {stat}) \pm 0.09 (\rm {syst})) \times 10^{-5}. Using BR(ηc(2S)KKˉπ)=(1.860.49+0.68)%\mathcal{BR}(\eta_{c}(2S)\to K\bar{K}\pi)=(1.86^{+0.68}_{-0.49})\%, we obtain the branching fraction of the radiative transition to be BR(ψ(3686)γηc(2S))=(5.2±0.3(stat)±0.5(syst)1.4+1.9(extr))×104\mathcal{BR}(\psi(3686) \to \gamma \eta_{c}(2S)) = (5.2 \pm 0.3 (\rm {stat}) \pm 0.5 (\rm {syst}) ^{+1.9}_{-1.4} (extr)) \times 10^{-4}, where the third uncertainty is due to the quoted BR(ηc(2S)KKˉπ)\mathcal{BR}(\eta_{c}(2S) \to K\bar{K}\pi)

    Investigating the ΔI=1/2\Delta I = 1/2 rule and CP violation through the measurement of decay asymmetry parameters in Ξ\Xi^- decays

    Using (10087±44)×106(10087\pm44)\times 10^{6} J/ψJ/\psi events collected with the BESIII detector, numerous Ξ\Xi^- and Λ\Lambda decay asymmetry parameters are simultaneously determined from the process J/ψΞΞˉ+Λ(pπ)πΛˉ(nˉπ0)π+J/\psi \to \Xi^- \bar{\Xi}^+ \to \Lambda(p\pi^-) \pi^- \bar{\Lambda}(\bar{n} \pi^0) \pi^+ and its charge-conjugate channel. The precisions of α0\alpha_0 for Λnπ0\Lambda \to n\pi^0 and αˉ0\bar{\alpha}_0 for Λˉnˉπ0\bar{\Lambda} \to \bar{n}\pi^0 compared to world averages are improved by factors of 4 and 1.7, respectively. The ratio of decay asymmetry parameters of Λnπ0\Lambda \to n\pi^0 to that of Λpπ\Lambda \to p\pi^-, α0/αΛ\langle \alpha_0 \rangle/ \langle \alpha_{\Lambda -} \rangle , is determined to be 0.873±0.0120.010+0.011 0.873 \pm 0.012^{+0.011}_{-0.010}, where the first and the second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The ratio is smaller than unity, which is predicted by the ΔI=1/2\Delta I = 1/2 rule, with a statistical significance of more than 5σ5\sigma. We test for CP violation in ΞΛπ\Xi^- \to \Lambda \pi^- and in Λnπ0\Lambda \to n \pi^{0} with the best precision to date.Comment: 8 pages, 2 figures, 1 tabl

    Observation of the Singly Cabibbo-Suppressed Decay Λc+ΣK+π+\Lambda_{c}^{+}\to \Sigma^{-}K^{+}\pi^{+}

    The singly Cabibbo-suppressed decay Λc+ΣK+π+\Lambda_{c}^{+}\to \Sigma^{-}K^{+}\pi^{+} is observed for the first time with a statistical significance of 6.4σ6.4\sigma by using 4.5 fb1^{-1} of e+ee^+e^- collision data collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.600 and 4.699 GeV with the BESIII detector at BEPCII. The absolute branching fraction of Λc+ΣK+π+\Lambda_{c}^{+}\to \Sigma^{-}K^{+}\pi^{+} is measured to be (3.8±1.3stat±0.2syst)×104(3.8\pm1.3_{\rm stat}\pm0.2_{\rm syst})\times 10^{-4} in a model-independent approach. This is the first observation of a Cabibbo-suppressed Λc+\Lambda_{c}^{+} decay involving Σ\Sigma^- in the final state. The ratio of branching fractions between Λc+ΣK+π+\Lambda_{c}^{+}\to \Sigma^{-}K^{+}\pi^{+} and the Cabibbo-favored decay Λc+Σπ+π+\Lambda_{c}^{+}\to \Sigma^- \pi^+\pi^+ is calculated to be (0.4±0.1)sc2(0.4 \pm 0.1)s_{c}^{2}, where scsinθc=0.2248s_{c} \equiv \sin\theta_c = 0.2248 with θc\theta_c the Cabibbo mixing angle. This ratio significantly deviates from 1.0sc21.0s_{c}^{2} and provides important information for the understanding of nonfactorization contributions in Λc+\Lambda_{c}^{+} decays.Comment: 8 pages, 2 figure

    Measurement of e+eϕηe^{+}e^{-}\to\phi\eta' cross sections at center-of-mass energies from 3.508 to 4.951 GeV and search for the decay ψ(3770)ϕη\psi(3770)\to\phi\eta'

    The cross sections of the e+eϕηe^{+}e^{-}\to\phi\eta' process at center-of-mass energies from 3.508 to 4.951 GeV are measured with high precision using 26.1 fb1^{-1} data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. The cross sections are of the order of a few picobarn, and decrease as the center-of-mass energy increases as sn/2s^{-n/2} with n=4.35±0.14n=4.35\pm 0.14. This result is in agreement with the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model prediction of n=3.5±0.9n=3.5\pm 0.9. In addition, the charmless decay ψ(3770)ϕη\psi(3770)\to\phi\eta' is searched for by fitting the measured cross sections, yet no significant signal is observed. The upper limit of B(ψ(3770)ϕη){\cal B}(\psi(3770)\to\phi\eta') at the 90\% confidence level is determined to be 2.3×1052.3\times 10^{-5}

    Observation of the Anomalous Shape of X(1840)X(1840) in J/ψγ3(π+π)J/\psi \rightarrow \gamma 3(\pi^+ \pi^-)

    Using a sample of (10087±44)×106(10087\pm44)\times 10^6 J/ψJ/\psi events, which is about fifty times larger than that was previously analyzed, a further investigation on the J/ψγ3(π+π)J/\psi \rightarrow \gamma 3(\pi^+\pi^-) decay is performed. A significant distortion at 1.84 GeV/c2c^2 in the line-shape of the 3(π+π)3(\pi^+\pi^-) invariant mass spectrum is observed for the first time, which is analogous to the behavior of X(1835)X(1835) and could be resolved by two overlapping resonant structures, X(1840)X(1840) and X(1880)X(1880). The new state X(1880)X(1880) is observed with a statistical significance of 14.7σ14.7\sigma. The mass and width of X(1880)X(1880) are determined to be 1882.1±1.7±0.71882.1\pm1.7\pm0.7 MeV/c2c^2 and 30.7±5.5±2.430.7\pm5.5 \pm2.4 MeV, respectively, which indicates the existence of a ppˉp\bar{p} bound state
