Ref-NPR: Reference-Based Non-Photorealistic Radiance Fields for Controllable Scene Stylization
Current 3D scene stylization methods transfer textures and colors as styles
using arbitrary style references, lacking meaningful semantic correspondences.
We introduce Reference-Based Non-Photorealistic Radiance Fields (Ref-NPR) to
address this limitation. This controllable method stylizes a 3D scene using
radiance fields with a single stylized 2D view as a reference. We propose a ray
registration process based on the stylized reference view to obtain pseudo-ray
supervision in novel views. Then we exploit semantic correspondences in content
images to fill occluded regions with perceptually similar styles, resulting in
non-photorealistic and continuous novel view sequences. Our experimental
results demonstrate that Ref-NPR outperforms existing scene and video
stylization methods regarding visual quality and semantic correspondence. The

Topological Insulators-Based Magnetic Heterostructure
The combination of magnetism and topology in magnetic topological insulators
(MTIs) has led to unprecedented advancements of time reversal symmetry-breaking
topological quantum physics in the past decade. Compared with the uniform
films, the MTI heterostructures provide a better framework to manipulate the
spin-orbit coupling and spin properties. In this review, we summarize the
fundamental mechanisms related to the physical orders host in
(Bi,Sb)2(Te,Se)3-based hybrid systems. Besides, we provide an assessment on the
general strategies to enhance the magnetic coupling and spin-orbit torque
strength through different structural engineering approaches and effective
interfacial interactions. Finally, we offer an outlook of MTI
heterostructures-based spintronics applications, particularly in view of their
feasibility to achieve room-temperature operation.Comment: 33 pages, 11 figure

The role of the fronto-parietal network in modulating sustained attention under sleep deprivation: an functional magnetic resonance imaging study
ObjectiveThe intricate relationship between sleep deprivation (SD) and cognitive performance has long been a subject of research. Our study offers a novel angle by closely examining the neurobiological underpinnings of sustained attention deficits through the lens of the fronto-parietal network (FPN). Using state-of-the-art imaging techniques, we delve into the changes in spontaneous brain activity after SD and explore their associations with performance on the psychomotor vigilance task (PVT).MethodsWe conducted an elaborate investigation involving 64 healthy, right-handed participants who underwent resting-state functional MRI scans before and after experiencing 24 h of sleep deprivation. Employing sophisticated statistical analyses, we scrutinized the changes in fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations (fALFF) through paired t-tests. Pearson correlation analyses were then applied to dissect the associations between these neurobiological shifts and behavioral outcomes in PVT.ResultsThe study yielded remarkable findings, revealing a dramatic decrease in fALFF values within critical areas of the FPN following SD. These alterations predominantly occurred in the frontal and parietal gyri and were inversely correlated with PVT performance metrics. Furthermore, we discovered that baseline fALFF values in the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) have the potential to serve as compelling neurobiological markers, with high discriminatory power in identifying individual responses to the adverse effects of SD on cognitive performance.ConclusionOur groundbreaking research underscores the pivotal role that the FPN plays in modulating attention and executive function, especially under the challenging conditions brought about by sleep deprivation. The findings offer critical insights that could shape the way we understand, assess, and potentially mitigate the cognitive impacts of SD, setting the stage for future research in this riveting domain
Integrating TSPO PET imaging and transcriptomics to unveil the role of neuroinflammation and amyloid-β deposition in Alzheimer's disease.
PURPOSE
Despite the revealed role of immunological dysfunctions in the development and progression of Alzheimer's disease (AD) through animal and postmortem investigations, direct evidence regarding the impact of genetic factors on microglia response and amyloid-β (Aβ) deposition in AD individuals is lacking. This study aims to elucidate this mechanism by integrating transcriptomics and TSPO, Aβ PET imaging in clinical AD cohort.
METHODS
We analyzed 85 patients with PET/MR imaging for microglial activation (TSPO, [18F]DPA-714) and Aβ ([18F]AV-45) within the prospective Alzheimer's Disease Immunization and Microbiota Initiative Study Cohort (ADIMIC). Immune-related differentially expressed genes (IREDGs), identified based on AlzData, were screened and verified using blood samples from ADIMIC. Correlation and mediation analyses were applied to investigate the relationships between immune-related genes expression, TSPO and Aβ PET imaging.
RESULTS
TSPO uptake increased significantly both in aMCI (P < 0.05) and AD participants (P < 0.01) and showed a positive correlation with Aβ deposition (r = 0.42, P < 0.001). Decreased expression of TGFBR3, FABP3, CXCR4 and CD200 was observed in AD group. CD200 expression was significantly negatively associated with TSPO PET uptake (r =-0.33, P = 0.013). Mediation analysis indicated that CD200 acted as a significant mediator between TSPO uptake and Aβ deposition (total effect B = 1.92, P = 0.004) and MMSE score (total effect B =-54.01, P = 0.003).
CONCLUSION
By integrating transcriptomics and TSPO PET imaging in the same clinical AD cohort, this study revealed CD200 played an important role in regulating neuroinflammation, Aβ deposition and cognitive dysfunction
Interplay between moment-dependent and field-driven unidirectional magnetoresistance in CoFeB/InSb/CdTe heterostructures
Magnetoresistance effects are crucial for understanding the charge/spin
transport as well as propelling the advancement of spintronic applications.
Here we report the coexistence of magnetic moment-dependent (MD) and magnetic
field-driven (FD) unidirectional magnetoresistance (UMR) effects in
CoFeB/InSb/CdTe heterostructures. The strong spin-orbital coupling of InSb and
the matched impedance at the CoFeB/InSb interface warrant a distinct MD-UMR
effect at room temperature, while the interaction between the in-plane magnetic
field and the Rashba effect at the InSb/CdTe interface induces the marked
FD-UMR signal that dominates the high-field region. Moreover, owning to the
different spin transport mechanisms, these two types of nonreciprocal charge
transport show opposite polarities with respect to the magnetic field
direction, which further enable an effective phase modulation of the
angular-dependent magnetoresistance. Besides, the demonstrations of both the
tunable UMR response and two-terminal spin-orbit torque-driven magnetization
switching validate our CoFeB/InSb/CdTe system as a suitable integrated building
block for multifunctional spintronic device design
Classification of Alzheimer's disease using robust TabNet neural networks on genetic data
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is one of the most common neurodegenerative diseases and its onset is significantly associated with genetic factors. Being the capabilities of high specificity and accuracy, genetic testing has been considered as an important technique for AD diagnosis. In this paper, we presented an improved deep learning (DL) algorithm, namely differential genes screening TabNet (DGS-TabNet) for AD binary and multi-class classifications. For performance evaluation, our proposed approach was compared with three novel DLs of multi-layer perceptron (MLP), neural oblivious decision ensembles (NODE), TabNet as well as five classical machine learnings (MLs) including decision tree (DT), random forests (RF), gradient boosting decision tree (GBDT), light gradient boosting machine (LGBM) and support vector machine (SVM) on the public data set of gene expression omnibus (GEO). Moreover, the biological interpretability of global important genetic features implemented for AD classification was revealed by the Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG) and gene ontology (GO). The results demonstrated that our proposed DGS-TabNet achieved the best performance with an accuracy of 93.80% for binary classification, and with an accuracy of 88.27% for multi-class classification. Meanwhile, the gene pathway analyses demonstrated that there existed two most important global genetic features of AVIL and NDUFS4 and those obtained 22 feature genes were partially correlated with AD pathogenesis. It was concluded that the proposed DGS-TabNet could be used to detect AD-susceptible genes and the biological interpretability of susceptible genes also revealed the potential possibility of being AD biomarkers
MiR-9 promotes microglial activation by targeting MCPIP1
Microglia participate in innate inflammatory responses within the central nervous system. The highly conserved microRNA-9 (miR-9) plays critical roles in neurogenesis as well as axonal extension. Its role in microglial inflammatory responses, however, remains poorly understood. Here we identify a unique role of miR-9 in mediating the microglial inflammatory response via distinct signalling pathways. MiR-9-mediated regulation of cellular activation involved downregulated expression of the target protein, monocyte chemotactic protein-induced protein 1 (MCPIP1) that is crucial for controlling inflammation. Results indicate that miR-9-mediated cellular activation involved signalling via the NF-kappa B pathway, but not the beta-catenin pathway
Indigo: a natural molecular passivator for efficient perovskite solar cells
Organic–inorganic hybrid lead halide perovskite solar cells have made unprecedented progress in improving photovoltaic efficiency during the past decade, while still facing critical stability challenges. Herein, the natural organic dye Indigo is explored for the first time to be an efficient molecular passivator that assists in the preparation of high-quality hybrid perovskite film with reduced defects and enhanced stability. The Indigo molecule with both carbonyl and amino groups can provide bifunctional chemical passivation for defects. In-depth theoretical and experimental studies show that the Indigo molecules firmly binds to the perovskite surfaces, enhancing the crystallization of perovskite films with improved morphology. Consequently, the Indigo-passivated perovskite film exhibits increased grain size with better uniformity, reduced grain boundaries, lowered defect density, and retarded ion migration, boosting the device efficiency up to 23.22%, and ˜21% for large-area device (1 cm2). Furthermore, the Indigo passivation can enhance device stability in terms of both humidity and thermal stress. These results provide not only new insights into the multipassivation role of natural organic dyes but also a simple and low-cost strategy to prepare high-quality hybrid perovskite films for optoelectronic applications based on Indigo derivatives.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft
