Photodegradation of Sulfadiazine in Aqueous Solution and the Affecting Factors

    Get PDF
Knowledge about photochemical behavior of sulfonamides under UV light is limited. In this study, photodegradation of sulfadiazine in water by ultraviolet (UV) light was studied using a 300 W, 365 nm UV lamp. The degradation process followed well the first-order kinetics, with a half-life of 9.76 min in water with air saturation. The photodegradation was slower at acidic pH 4.52 than at pH 6.98 and pH 8.90. Addition of H 2 O 2 and nitrate enhanced the photodegradation rate, while addition of ethanol, nitrite, sulfate, and bicarbonate depressed the reaction rate. This study suggested that sulfadiazine photodegradation under UV light is generally favored by the attack of hydroxyl radicals

Degradation of Methyl Blue Using Fe-Tourmaline as a Novel Photocatalyst

This study investigated the photocatalytic activity of tourmaline by itself. Under irradiation of a 13 W, 254 nm UV lamp, 50% of methyl blue disappeared in the presence of 130 mg·L−1 tourmaline. The reaction was inhibited by the addition of ethanol, Cl−, SO42− and Cu2+, and promoted a little by addition of 50 mg/L Mg2+, which supports the inference of involvement of •OH radicals. This is the first proposal of tourmaline as a single photocatalyst without the need to add any artificial chemical products. Results from this study might contribute to the broadened usage of this mineral to approach the goals of saving energy and eliminate direct or indirect environmental pollution

Research on Semi-Physical Simulation Testing of Inter-Satellite Laser Interference in the China Taiji Space Gravitational Wave Detection Program

    No full text
To guarantee a smooth in-orbit space gravitational wave detection for the Taiji mission, a semi-physical simulation test of inter-satellite laser interference is carried out. The semi-physical simulation test consists of three aspects: the establishment of the inter-satellite laser link, interferometry of the inter-satellite ranging, and simulation of the space environment. With the designed specifications for the semi-physical simulation platform, the test results for the inter-satellite laser interference can be obtained. Based on the semi-physical simulation test, the risks of inter-satellite laser interference technology can be mitigated, laying a solid foundation for the successful detection of in-orbit gravitational waves
