    A study on the memory value of industrial heritage based on space narrative - a case of urban renewal in Shanghai

    When the process of urban renewal is accelerating, the issue of preservation and utilization of cultural heritage in cities, particularly, the preservation and adaptive reuse of industrial heritage has sparked enthusiastic discussions in academia. Industrial heritage is the physical carrier symbolizing industrial civilization, and its physical presence is often the focus of people’s attention. The underlined historical, scientific, and artistic values, especially the memory and emotional values, namely its intangible value as the place spirit of industrial heritage, are often not given enough attention. However, these values are becoming increasingly important in shaping urban culture. Taking the preservation and adaptive reuse of industrial heritage in Shanghai in recent years as an example, this paper explores taking the intangible memory value of industrial sites as a narrative text to construct a narrative space for interpreting the memory and emotion of urban culture and to inherit industrial culture and place spirit. The adaptive reuse of industrial heritage will perpetuate and create new memory values through space narrative, preserve the city’s historical features, and shape the urban culture

    Clinical identification and microbiota analysis of Chlamydia psittaci- and Chlamydia abortus- pneumonia by metagenomic next-generation sequencing

    IntroductionRecently, the incidence of chlamydial pneumonia caused by rare pathogens such as C. psittaci or C. abortus has shown a significant upward trend. The non-specific clinical manifestations and the limitations of traditional pathogen identification methods determine that chlamydial pneumonia is likely to be poorly diagnosed or even misdiagnosed, and may further result in delayed treatment or unnecessary antibiotic use. mNGS's non-preference and high sensitivity give us the opportunity to obtain more sensitive detection results than traditional methods for rare pathogens such as C. psittaci or C. abortus. MethodsIn the present study, we investigated both the pathogenic profile characteristics and the lower respiratory tract microbiota of pneumonia patients with different chlamydial infection patterns using mNGS.ResultsMore co-infecting pathogens were found to be detectable in clinical samples from patients infected with C. psittaci compared to C. abortus, suggesting that patients infected with C. psittaci may have a higher risk of mixed infection, which in turn leads to more severe clinical symptoms and a longer disease course cycle. Further, we also used mNGS data to analyze for the first time the characteristic differences in the lower respiratory tract microbiota of patients with and without chlamydial pneumonia, the impact of the pattern of Chlamydia infection on the lower respiratory tract microbiota, and the clinical relevance of these characteristics. Significantly different profiles of lower respiratory tract microbiota and microecological diversity were found among different clinical subgroups, and in particular, mixed infections with C. psittaci and C. abortus resulted in lower lung microbiota diversity, suggesting that chlamydial infections shape the unique lung microbiota pathology, while mixed infections with different Chlamydia may have important effects on the composition and diversity of the lung microbiota. DiscussionThe present study provides possible evidences supporting the close correlation between chlamydial infection, altered microbial diversity in patients' lungs and clinical parameters associated with infection or inflammation in patients, which also provides a new research direction to better understand the pathogenic mechanisms of pulmonary infections caused by Chlamydia

    Bufei Yishen Granules Combined with Acupoint Sticking Therapy Suppress Inflammation in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Rats: Via JNK/p38 Signaling Pathway

    The present study was initiated to explore the mechanism of the effects of Bufei Yishen granules combined with acupoint sticking therapy (Shu-Fei Tie) on inflammation regulated by c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) and p38 MAPK signaling in COPD rats. Seventy-two rats were divided into healthy control (Control), Model, Bufei Yishen (BY), acupoint sticking (AS), Bufei Yishen + acupoint sticking (BY + AS), and aminophylline (APL) groups (n=12 each). COPD rats were exposed to cigarette smoke and bacteria and were given the various treatments from weeks 9 through 20; all animals were sacrificed at the end of week 20. MCP-1, IL-2, IL-6, and IL-10 concentrations in BALF and lung tissue as well as JNK and p38 mRNA and protein levels in lung were measured. The results showed that all the four treatment protocols (BY, AS, BY + AS, and APL) markedly reduced the concentrations of IL-2, IL-6, and MCP-1 and levels of JNK and p38 MAPK mRNA, and the effects of Bufei Yishen granules combined with acupoint sticking therapy were better than acupoint sticking therapy only and aminophylline. In conclusion, the favorable effect of Bufei Yishen granules combined with Shu-Fei Tie may be due to decreased inflammation through regulation of the JNK/p38 signaling pathways

    Experimental and Analytical Analysis of Mechanical Properties for Large-Size Lattice Truss Panel Structure Including Role of Connected Structure

    The large-size lattice truss panel structure (LTPS) is continually increasing for higher upsizing, but the roles of its connected structures on the mechanical properties are always ignored during the previous structural integrity assessment. Thus, in this paper, a series of mechanical tests, including the fabricating of panel-to-panel LTPSs, monotonous tensile, and three- and four-point bending tests, were performed to comprehensively understand the mechanical behavior. Furthermore, a theoretical model including the role of connected structures was developed to predict both the elastic and plastic deformation behavior of panel-to-panel LTPS. Results show that the connected structure has a very significant effect on the mechanical properties of panel-to-panel LTPS during the three-bending tests, and I-beam element depresses its carrying capacity. The developed theoretical model was proved to accurately predict the experimental results, and the maximum error was limited within 20%. Finally, the dimensional effects of the connection components on mechanical properties were also analyzed by the theoretical model, and indicated that the panel-to-panel LTPS will present better mechanical performance than the intact structure when the width of I-beam element exceeds 12.2 mm or the its length downgrades to 39.1 mm, which provide a comprehensive guidance for the engineering design of large-size LTPS

    Tuning Interface Bridging Between MoSe2 and Three-Dimensional Carbon Framework by Incorporation of MoC Intermediate to Boost Lithium Storage Capability

Abstract: Interface engineering has been widely explored to improve the electrochemical performances of composite electrodes, which governs the interface charge transfer, electron transportation, and structural stability. Herein, MoC is incorporated into MoSe2/C composite as an intermediate phase to alter the bridging between MoSe2- and nitrogen-doped three-dimensional (3D) carbon framework as MoSe2/MoC/N–C connection, which greatly improve the structural stability, electronic conductivity, and interfacial charge transfer. Moreover, the incorporation of MoC into the composites inhibits the overgrowth of MoSe2 nanosheets on the 3D carbon framework, producing much smaller MoSe2 nanodots. The obtained MoSe2 nanodots with fewer layers, rich edge sites, and heteroatom doping ensure the good kinetics to promote pseudo-capacitance contributions. Employing as anode material for lithium-ion batteries, it shows ultralong cycle life (with 90% capacity retention after 5000 cycles at 2 A g−1) and excellent rate capability. Moreover, the constructed LiFePO4//MoSe2/MoC/N–C full cell exhibits over 86% capacity retention at 2 A g−1 after 300 cycles. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the interface engineering by incorporation of MoC as interface bridging intermediate to boost the lithium storage capability, which can be extended as a potential general strategy for the interface engineering of composite materials.[Figure not available: see fulltext.
