Why is Qi-Invigorating Therapy in Chinese Medicine Suitable for Mitochondrial Diseases? A Bioenergetic Perspective

    Get PDF
The central player in bioenergetics is the mitochondrion. Bioenergetic dysfunction is emerging as a cornerstone for understanding the pathophysiology of mitochondrial diseases. Accompanying the depth of mitochondrial research and the rapid development of mitochondrial medicine, however, is rapid amplification of the number of mitochondrial diseases; mitochondrial dysfunction would undermine the function of cells, tissues, and organs, thereby causing cancer, diabetes, obesity, strokes, cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, and ageing, etc. Currently, there are no effective treatments; Western medicine is in crisis when it comes to mitochondrial diseases

Preliminary Analysis of Precipitation Runoff Features in the Jinsha River Basin

AbstractThe present paper analyzed the precipitation features of the Jinsha River by studying the data collected from 1964 to 1990 in the 14 precipitation stations of the upper and lower reaches. The result showed that the precipitation distribution in the area was rather uneven, with the main intra-annual distribution happening from June to September in small variation. Then, the annual runoff data collected in the four control stations of the main tributary were used for feature analysis. The result showed that the intra-annual runoff distribution in the area is not uneven, with obvious wet and dry periods and light inter-annual variation

Characteristic analysis of looseness-rubbing coupling fault in dual-disk rotor system

For the looseness-rubbing coupling fault rotor-bearing system caused by pedestal looseness, the mechanical model and finite element model of dual-disk triad-supported looseness-rubbing coupling fault rotor-bearing system were established in this paper. The research of dynamics characteristics about the effect of rubbing stiffness and looseness stiffness on the system was done with equivalent stiffness model on the loose support, nonlinear finite element method, contact theory and the wavelet packet decomposition principle. It was demonstrated that alternating high and low peaks exist in the time domain while the trapezoidal shape appears in the orbit diagram of the signal. It was also found that the double frequency (2X) has a high energy distribution in the vibration signal. It could be used as fault frequency band of the looseness-rubbing coupling fault. These two characteristics (trapezoidal shape and double frequency) could serve as a basis in diagnosing looseness-rubbing coupling fault
