Early development of the Amur sleeper (Perccottus glenii, Dybowski, 1877): a remarkable invasive species in Eurasia
To investigate the ontogeny of Perccottus glenii, embryonic, larval and juvenile development of P. glenii were examined under captive condition. The fertilized eggs with numerous oil droplets were orange-pink in color, prolate spherical in shape and had average length of 3.32±0.14 mm and width of 1.24±0.04 mm. From fertilization to hatching, the ontogenesis of the fish spent more than 200 h, and the process of embryonic development was divided into 25 stages based on the morphological characteristics. The newly hatched larvae, with well-developed swim bladder and pectoral fins, measured 5.07±0.18mm in total length. Initial feeding occurred at day 2 after hatching (AH) and the complete absorption of yolk sphere was observed 3 days after hatching. At day 40 AH, scales and vertical pigment were found to be appear. Scales covered the entire body and all fins were well developed 70 days AH, at which time the juveniles reached the young stage with a total length (TL) of 24.74±4.28 mm. Covert Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy: A New Minimally Invasive Technique
To further improve our developed transumbilical endoscopic surgery (TUES), we developed a completely covert laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC). Twelve cases of LC were recruited for this new approach. First, a 10-mm trocar was placed above the umbilicus for inserting the laparoscope. Two 5-mm trocars were then placed near the right and left ends of the superior margin of the suprapubic hair. After the 5-mm 30° laparoscope was shifted to the left suprapubic trocar, the harmonic scalper, electric hook, and grasper were inserted either through the 10-mm umbilical trocar or through the right suprapubic trocar. All gallbladders were successfully removed without intraoperative complications. The mean operating time was 28.5±5.7min (range 20-45min). All patients felt well after surgery and did not need postoperative analgesia. They resumed free oral intake 6h after the procedure. All patients were satisfied with the appearance of the incisions, which were completely hidden in the umbilicus and suprapubic hair. The approach we developed has overcome both external instrument interference around the umbilicus and the loss of triangulation in the operative field. It is relatively simpler than a typical TUES and offers better cosmetic results
NaI (Tl) Calorimeter Calibration and Simulation for Coulomb Sum Rule Experiment in Hall-A at Jefferson Lab
A precision measurment of inclusive electron scattering cross sections was
carried out at Jefferson Lab in the quasi-elastic region for He,
C, Fe and Pb targets. Longitudinal () and
transverse () response functions of nucleon were extracted in the
momentum transfer range 0.55 GeV/c1.0 GeV/c. To achieve the
above goal, a NaI (Tl) calorimeter was used to distinguish good electrons from
background including pions and low energy electrons rescattered from walls of
the spectrometer magnets. Due to a large set of kinematics and changes in HV
settings, a number of calibrations were performed for the NaI (Tl) detector.
Corrections for a few blocks of NaI (Tl) with bad or no signal were applied.

Fermi Large Area Telescope Detection of Gamma-Rays from NGC 6251 Radio Lobe
We report on the detection of extended -ray emission from lobes in
the radio galaxy NGC 6251 using observation data of Fermi Large Area Telescope
(Fermi-LAT). The maximum likelihood analysis results show that a radio
morphology template provides a better fit than a point-like source description
for the observational data at a confidence level of 8.1, and the
contribution of lobes accounts for more than 50\% of the total -ray
flux. Furthermore, the -ray energy spectra show a significant disparity
in shape between the core and lobe regions, with a curved log-parabola shape
observed in core region and a power-law form observed in lobes. Neither the
core region nor the northwest lobe displays the significant flux variations in
the long-term -ray light curves. The broadband spectral energy
distributions of both core region and northwest lobe can be will explained with
a single-zone leptonic model. The -rays of core region are due to the
synchrotron-self-Compton process while the -rays from northwest lobe
are interpreted as inverse Compton emission of the cosmic microwave background.Comment: 13 pages,6 figures,3 tables, the Astrophysical Journal, Accepte
