Chaos in two black holes with next-to-leading order spin-spin interactions
We take into account the dynamics of a complete third post-Newtonian
conservative Hamiltonian of two spinning black holes, where the orbital part
arrives at the third post-Newtonian precision level and the spin-spin part with
the spin-orbit part includes the leading-order and next-to-leading-order
contributions. It is shown through numerical simulations that the
next-to-leading order spin-spin couplings play an important role in chaos. A
dynamical sensitivity to the variation of single parameter is also
investigated. In particular, there are a number of \textit{observable} orbits
whose initial radii are large enough and which become chaotic before
coalescence
A study of allosteric binding behaviour of a 1,3-alternate thiacalix[4]arene-based receptor using fluorescence signal
A novel heteroditopic thiacalix[4]arene receptor L possessing 1,3-alternate conformation, which contains two pyrene moieties attached to the lower rim via urea linkages together with a crown ether moiety appended at the opposite side of the thiacalix[4]arene cavity, has been synthesized. The complexation behaviour of receptor L was studied by means of fluorescence spectra and ¹H NMR titration experiments in the presence of K⁺ ions and a variety of other anions. The results suggested that receptor L can complex efficiently via the urea cavity or the crown ether moiety, and a positive/negative allosteric effect operating in receptor L was observed
Energy-Efficient Transmission Schedule for Delay-Limited Bursty Data Arrivals under Non-Ideal Circuit Power Consumption
This paper develops a novel approach to obtaining energy-efficient
transmission schedules for delay-limited bursty data arrivals under non-ideal
circuit power consumption. Assuming a-prior knowledge of packet arrivals,
deadlines and channel realizations, we show that the problem can be formulated
as a convex program. For both time-invariant and time-varying fading channels,
it is revealed that the optimal transmission between any two consecutive
channel or data state changing instants, termed epoch, can only take one of the
three strategies: (i) no transmission, (ii) transmission with an
energy-efficiency (EE) maximizing rate over part of the epoch, or (iii)
transmission with a rate greater than the EE-maximizing rate over the whole
epoch. Based on this specific structure, efficient algorithms are then
developed to find the optimal policies that minimize the total energy
consumption with a low computational complexity. The proposed approach can
provide the optimal benchmarks for practical schemes designed for transmissions
of delay-limited data arrivals, and can be employed to develop efficient online
scheduling schemes which require only causal knowledge of data arrivals and

The algorithm is based on two key findings that we derive through judicious convex formulation and resultant optimality conditions, specifies a set of simple but optimal rules, and generates the optimal schedule with a low complexity of O(N2) in the worst case. The proposed algorithm is also extended to on-line scenarios, where the transmit schedule is generated on-the-fly. Simulation shows that the proposed algorithm requires substantially lower average complexity by almost two orders of magnitude to retain optimality than general convex solvers. The effective transmit region, specified by the tradeoff of the data arrival rate and the energy harvesting rate, is substantially larger using our algorithm than using other existing alternatives. Direct evidence of a blocking heavy atom effect on the water-assisted fluorescence enhancement detection of Hg²⁺ based on a ratiometric chemosensor
At the current stage of chemosensor chemistry, the critical question now is whether the heavy atom effect caused by HTM ions can be blocked or avoided. In the present work, we provide unequivocal evidence to confirm that the heavy atom effect of Hg²⁺ is inhibited by water and other solvent molecules based on results using the chemosensor L. Most importantly, the heavy atom effect and blocking thereof were monitored within the same system by the use of ratiometric fluorescence signal changes of the pyrene motif. These observations not only serve as the foundation for the design of new ‘turn-on’ chemosensors for HTM ions, but also open up new opportunities for the monitoring of organic reactions
Probing signatures of bounce inflation with current observations
The aim of this paper is to probe the features of the bouncing cosmology with
the current observational data. Basing on bounce inflation model, with high
derivative term, we propose a general parametrization of primordial power
spectrum which includes the typical bouncing parameters, such as bouncing
time-scale, and energy scale. By applying Markov Chain Monto Carlo analysis
with current data combination of Planck 2015, BAO and JLA, we report the
posterior probability distributions of the parameters. We find that, bouncing
models can well explain CMB observations, especially the deficit and
oscillation on large scale in TT power spectrum.Comment: 17 pages, 8 figure
