Software for Wearable Devices: Challenges and Opportunities
Wearable devices are a new form of mobile computer system that provides
exclusive and user-personalized services. Wearable devices bring new issues and
challenges to computer science and technology. This paper summarizes the
development process and the categories of wearable devices. In addition, we
present new key issues arising in aspects of wearable devices, including
operating systems, database management system, network communication protocol,
application development platform, privacy and security, energy consumption,

Migrant Entrepreneurs and Credit Constraints under Labour Market Discrimination
We use a unique data of representative migrants and urban local workers in 15 Chinese cities to investigate entrepreneurship and credit constraints under labour market discrimination. We divide self employed into prefer to be self-employed and prefer to have a salaried job but cannot find one; and divide salaried workers into want-to-be entrepreneurs and happy-to-be salaried workers. Over 40 percent of migrant workers are either currently or want-to-be entrepreneurs. Both groups are very similar in terms of risk taking preferences and network size. Want-to-be entrepreneurs however suffer from credit constraints identified by negative financial shocks in the year before. Collaborative Deep Reinforcement Learning for Joint Object Search
We examine the problem of joint top-down active search of multiple objects
under interaction, e.g., person riding a bicycle, cups held by the table, etc..
Such objects under interaction often can provide contextual cues to each other
to facilitate more efficient search. By treating each detector as an agent, we
present the first collaborative multi-agent deep reinforcement learning
algorithm to learn the optimal policy for joint active object localization,
which effectively exploits such beneficial contextual information. We learn
inter-agent communication through cross connections with gates between the
Q-networks, which is facilitated by a novel multi-agent deep Q-learning
algorithm with joint exploitation sampling. We verify our proposed method on
multiple object detection benchmarks. Not only does our model help to improve
the performance of state-of-the-art active localization models, it also reveals
interesting co-detection patterns that are intuitively interpretable
On the afterglow from the receding jet of gamma-ray burst
According to popular progenitor models of gamma-ray bursts, twin jets should
be launched by the central engine, with a forward jet moving toward the
observer and a receding jet (or the counter jet) moving backwardly. However, in
calculating the afterglows, usually only the emission from the forward jet is
considered. Here we present a detailed numerical study on the afterglow from
the receding jet. Our calculation is based on a generic dynamical description,
and includes some delicate ingredients such as the effect of the equal arrival
time surface. It is found that the emission from the receding jet is generally
rather weak. In radio bands, it usually peaks at a time of d,
with the peak flux nearly 4 orders of magnitude lower than the peak flux of the
forward jet. Also, it usually manifests as a short plateau in the total
afterglow light curve, but not as an obvious rebrightening as once expected. In
optical bands, the contribution from the receding jet is even weaker, with the
peak flux being orders of magnitude lower than the peak flux of the
forward jet. We thus argue that the emission from the receding jet is very
difficult to detect. However, in some special cases, i.e., when the
circum-burst medium density is very high, or if the parameters of the receding
jet is quite different from those of the forward jet, the emission from the
receding jet can be significantly enhanced and may still emerge as a marked
rebrightening. We suggest that the search for receding jet emission should
mostly concentrate on nearby gamma-ray bursts, and the observation campaign
