Privacy Protection Performance of De-identified Face Images with and without Background
Li Meng, 'Privacy Protection Performance of De-identified Face Images with and without Background', paper presented at the 39th International Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Convention. Grand Hotel Adriatic Congress Centre and Admiral Hotel, Opatija, Croatia, May 30 - June 3, 2016.This paper presents an approach to blending a de-identified face region with its original background, for the purpose of completing the process of face de-identification. The re-identification risk of the de-identified FERET face images has been evaluated for the k-Diff-furthest face de-identification method, using several face recognition benchmark methods including PCA, LBP, HOG and LPQ. The experimental results show that the k-Diff-furthest face de-identification delivers high privacy protection within the face region while blending the de-identified face region with its original background may significantly increases the re-identification risk, indicating that de-identification must also be applied to image areas beyond the face region
Impact of Income Growth and Economic Reform on Nutrition Intake in Urban China : 1986-2000
Although urban China has experienced a rapid income growth over the last twenty years,
nutrition intake for the low income group declined in the 1990s. Does this imply a zero or
negative income elasticity for the low income group? This paper examines this issue using
large representative sample of repeated cross-sectional data for the period 1986-2000. It is
found that income elasticities of calorie consumption for urban households are far from zero,
and the lower the income level the higher the income elasticity. The main reason for the
reduction in calorie consumption for the low income group in the early 1990s was a sharp
increase in food price. In addition, in the mid to late 1990s large scale social welfare reform
increased households? need to pay for education, medical, housing expenses and the need
to save for future consumption and income uncertainty. These factors seem to have played
an important role in suppressing nutrition consumption of the low income group during this
period
High-temperature Phonon-assisted Upconversion Photoluminescence Of Monolayer WSe2
Phonon-assisted up conversion photoluminescence (UPL) is an anti-Stokes process emitting photons of energy higher than the excitation photons, with up conversion energy gain provided by optical phonons. Atomically thin transition metal dichalcogenides provide a promising platform for exploring the phonon-assisted UPL process due to their strong phonon-exciton interactions. Here, high-temperature phonon-assisted UPL process in monolayer WSe2 is investigated, aiming to understand the role of phonon population and the number of phonons involved in the UPL process at elevated temperatures. It is demonstrated that the integrated intensity of UPL emission significantly increases by two orders of magnitude as the temperature rises from room temperature of 295 to 476 K, which is distinguished from the photoluminescence emission usually suffering from thermal quenching. The observed growth of UPL emission intensity is attributed to both the increased phonon population and the reduced number of phonons required at elevated temperatures. Our study paves the way toward near-infrared light detection, anti-Stokes energy harvesting, optical refrigeration, and temperature sensing
Surface morphology and mechanical properties of conventional and selfadhesive resin cements after aqueous aging
The stable long-term performance of resin cement under oral environmental conditions is a crucial factor to obtain a satisfactory success of the allceramic dental restoration. Objective: This study aimed at evaluating and comparing the surface morphology and mechanical property of conventional and self-adhesive resin cement after aqueous aging. Materials and Methods: Disc-shaped specimens of 3 conventional (C1: Multilink N, C2: Duolink, C3: Nexus 3) and 3 self-adhesive (S1: Multilink Speed, S2: Biscem, S3: Maxcem) types of resin cements were subjected to irradiation. After 24 h, the Knoop microhardness of each resin cement was evaluated. The specimens were immersed separately in distilled water and maintained at 37°C. A total of 5 specimens of each resin cement were collected at the following time intervals of immersion: 1, 6, 12 and 18 months. The samples were used to evaluate the Knoop parameters of microhardness, sorption and solubility. The surface morphology of the specimens after 18 months of immersion was observed by scanning electron microscopy. The sorption and solubility data were analyzed by two-way ANOVA. The Knoop microhardness was tested by the ANOVA repeated measures (P<0.05). Results: The sorption and solubility parameters of C1 and S1 exhibited significant fluctuations during the aqueous aging. The hardness of the S1 and S2 specimens decreased significantly after an 18-month water immersion. The S1, S2 and S3 specimens indicated higher filler exposure and stripping and apparent pores and cracks compared to specimens C1, C2 and C3, respectively. Conclusion: The surface of selfadhesive resin cements is more susceptible to aqueous damage than that of the conventional resin cements
Soil Liquid Limit and Plastic Limit Treating System Based on Analytic Method
AbstractAccording to two present China national standards, a software as Soil Liquid Limit and Plastic Limit Data Treating System, with analytic method, was developed using object-oriented visual programming tool. The analytic method used in the developed system was different to traditional method of treating soil liquid limit and plastic limit data. N-S algorithm flowchart demonstrated that switch statement and condition statement were taken as main algorithm and second level select nested structure was taken as main frame for the developed system. Three kinds of soil specimens were tested with liquid and plastic limit combined test and the test data was treated with graphic method, Excel software and Soil Liquid Limit and Plastic Limit Data Treating System. The comparative conclusion indicated that Soil Liquid Limit and Plastic Limit Data Treating System improved efficiency and accuracy evidently for treating soil liquid and plastic limit data and had advantages of easy operation and high reliability
