    Energy-Efficient Algorithm for Sensor Networks with Non-Uniform Maximum Transmission Range

    In wireless sensor networks (WSNs), the energy hole problem is a key factor affecting the network lifetime. In a circular multi-hop sensor network (modeled as concentric coronas), the optimal transmission ranges of all coronas can effectively improve network lifetime. In this paper, we investigate WSNs with non-uniform maximum transmission ranges, where sensor nodes deployed in different regions may differ in their maximum transmission range. Then, we propose an Energy-efficient algorithm for Non-uniform Maximum Transmission range (ENMT), which can search approximate optimal transmission ranges of all coronas in order to prolong network lifetime. Furthermore, the simulation results indicate that ENMT performs better than other algorithms

    BandMap: Application Mapping with Bandwidth Allocation forCoarse-Grained Reconfigurable Array

    This paper proposes an application mapping algorithm, BandMap, for coarse-grained reconfigurable array (CGRA), which allocates the bandwidth in PE array according to the transferring demands of data, especially the data with high spatial reuse, to reduce the routing PEs. To cover bandwidth allocation, BandMap maps the data flow graphs (DFGs), abstracted from applications, by solving the maximum independent set (MIS) on a mixture of tuple and quadruple resource occupation conflict graph. Compared to a state-of-art BusMap work, Bandmap can achieve reduced routing PEs with the same or even smaller initiation interval (II)

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Although extensive data demonstrates that the majority of H6 duck isolates belonged to a single H6N2 virus lineage with a single gene constellation in southern China from 2000 to 2005, the prevalence of H6N2 virus in poultry in Eastern China is largely unknown.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Epidemiology revealed that H6N2 viruses were the most frequently detected influenza subtypes in live bird markets from 2002 to 2008 in Eastern China, but from 2009 onwards, they were replaced with novel H6N6 viruses. We phylogenetically and antigenically analyzed 42 H6 viruses isolated mainly in domestic ducks from 2002 to 2010 in Eastern China. Surprisingly, none of these isolates grouped with the previously described H6N2 viruses which belonged to a single H6N2 virus lineage with a single gene constellation in domestic ducks in southern China from 2000 to 2005. Two distinct hemagglutinin lineages were identified and they all underwent frequent reassortment with multiple virus subtypes from the natural gene pool, but few reassortants were persistent or prevalent.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>Five subtypes of H6 influenza viruses (H6N1, H6N2, H6N5, H6N6 and H6N8) cocirculated in Eastern China, which form a significant part of the natural influenza virus reservoir in domestic ducks, and significant viral reassortment is still ongoing in this species.</p

    Effect of megarectum on postoperative defecation of female patients with congenital rectovestibular fistula or rectoperineal fistula

    BackgroundTo assess the effect of megarectum on postoperative defecation of female patients with congenital rectovestibular fistula or rectoperineal fistula.MethodsFrom March 2013 to February 2021, 74 female patients with congenital rectovestibular fistula or rectoperineal fistula were treated. The age of patients ranged from 3 months to 1 year. Barium enema and spinal cord MRI were performed in all children. 4 patients were removed from the study because of spinal cord and sacral agenesis. Finally, 70 patients underwent one-stage anterior sagittal anorectoplasty (ASARP). Anal endoscopy and anorectal pressure measurement were performed 1 year after surgery. All patients were divided into two groups depending on the presence of megarectum (+) and (−) and observed for constipation and anal sphincter function.Results16 patients (4 months to 1 year) were complicated with megarectum, and 5 patients (3 months to 9 months) were without megarectum. The incision infection was seen in 3 patients. All patients were followed up for 1 year to 5 years. Fecal soiling was seen in 2 patients and constipation in 14 patients. Among 16 patients with megarectum, soiling was seen in 1 patient and the constipation in 12 patients. Among 54 patients without megarectum, soiling was seen in 1 patient and constipation in 2 patients. There was a significant difference in the incidence of postoperative constipation between the two groups (megarectum (+) 75% vs. megarectum (−) 3.7% (P &lt; 0.05)). However, there was no significant difference in the score of anal sphincters between the two groups (P &lt; 0.05). And there was no significant difference in anal resting pressure (P = 0.49) and length of anal high pressure area (P = 0.76). 7 patients with constipation and megarectum acquired normal anal function after the dilated rectum was resected.ConclusionMegarectum increases the possibility of difficult postoperative defecation in the patients with congenital rectovestibular fistula or rectoperineal fistula. However, constipation was not associated with ASARP postoperative effects on sphincter function. Resection of megarectum is helpful to the improvement of constipation

    Expression and Prognostic Significance of PD-L2 in Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma

    Recent studies suggest that programmed death ligand-2 (PD-L2) constitutes an important antitumor immune response. Here, we investigated the relationship between PD-L2 expression and clinicopathological features in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Immunohistochemistry showed that positive expression of PD-L2 was observed in 45 of 181 newly diagnosed patients, including 14 cases with expression exclusively on tumor cells (TCs) and 31 cases with the expression on both TCs and immune cells (ICs) in the tumor microenvironment (TME). In 21 recurrent patients, positive expression of PD-L2 was present in six cases, including two cases with expression exclusively on TCs, and four cases with the expression on both TCs and ICs in the TME. Patients with PD-L2 tumor proportion score (TPS) ≥1% exhibited a better ECOG performance status (PS) (ECOG PS score &lt;2, P = 0.041), lower international prognostic index (IPI) score (P &lt; 0.001), and early Ann Arbor stage (Ann Arbor stage I or II, P = 0.010). Similarly, patients with PD-L2 immune proportion score (IPS) ≥1% also exhibited a better ECOG PS (ECOG PS score &lt; 2, P = 0.006) and lower IPI score (P = 0.001). Survival analysis showed that patients with PD-L2 TPS ≥1% exhibited prolonged overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS). However, survival analysis showed no prognostic significance based on expression of PD-L2 on ICs in the TME. TC PD-L2 expression was significantly associated with OS (P = 0.041) and PFS (P = 0.001). In the multivariate analysis, TC PD-L2 expression was an independent prognostic risk factor for PFS (P = 0.013), but not for OS (P = 0.249). Furthermore, we found that higher TC and IC PD-L2 expression was associated with higher objective response rate (ORR). Moreover, we demonstrated that the expression level of PD-L2 was positively correlated with the expression status of M1 macrophage markers CD86. Our findings highlight PD-L2 as a promising therapeutic target in DLBCL

    Identification of core cuprotosis-correlated biomarkers in abdominal aortic aneurysm immune microenvironment based on bioinformatics

    BackgroundThe occurrence of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) is related to the disorder of immune microenvironment. Cuprotosis was reported to influence the immune microenvironment. The objective of this study is to identify cuprotosis-related genes involved in the pathogenesis and progression of AAA.MethodsDifferentially expressed lncRNAs (DElncRNAs) and mRNAs (DEmRNAs) in mouse were identified following AAA through high-throughput RNA sequencing. The enrichment analyses of pathway were selected through Gene Ontology (GO), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG). The validation of cuprotosis-related genes was conducted through immunofluorescence and western blot analyses.ResultsTotally, 27616 lncRNAs and 2189 mRNAs were observed to be differentially expressed (|Fold Change| ≥ 2 and q&lt; 0.05) after AAA, including 10424 up-regulated and 17192 down-regulated lncRNAs, 1904 up-regulated and 285 down-regulated mRNAs. Gene ontology and KEGG pathway analysis showed that the DElncRNAs and DEmRNAs were implicated in many different biological processes and pathways. Furthermore, Cuprotosis-related genes (NLRP3, FDX1) were upregulated in the AAA samples compared with the normal one.ConclusionCuprotosis-related genes (NLRP3,FDX1) involved in AAA immune environment might be critical for providing new insight into identification of potential targets for AAA therapy

    Idiopathic Male Infertility Is Strongly Associated with Aberrant Promoter Methylation of Methylenetetrahydrofolate Reductase (MTHFR)

    Abnormal germline DNA methylation in males has been proposed as a possible mechanism compromising spermatogenesis of some men currently diagnosed with idiopathic infertility. Previous studies have been focused on imprinted genes with DNA methylation in poor quality human sperms. However, recent but limited data have revealed that sperm methylation abnormalities may involve large numbers of genes or shown that genes that are not imprinted are also affected.Using the methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction and bisulfite sequencing method, we examined methylation patterns of the promoter of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene (NG_013351: 1538-1719) in sperm DNA obtained from 94 idiopathic infertile men and 54 normal fertile controls. Subjects with idiopathic infertility were further divided into groups of normozoospermia and oligozoospermia. Overall, 45% (41/94) of idiopathic infertile males had MTHFR hypermethylation (both hemimethylation and full methylation), compared with 15% of fertile controls (P<0.05). Subjects with higher methylation level of MTHFR were more likely to have idiopathic male infertility (P-value for trend  = 0.0007). Comparing the two groups of idiopathic infertile subjects with different sperm concentrations, a higher methylation pattern was found in the group with oligozoospermia.Hypermethylation of the promoter of MTHFR gene in sperms is associated with idiopathic male infertility. The functional relevance of hypermathylation of MTHFR to male fertility warrants further investigation
