    No Weight Catch-Up Growth of SGA Infants Is Associated with Impaired Insulin Sensitivity during the Early Postnatal Period

    Objective. To investigate the relationship between weight catch-up growth and insulin sensitivity in small for gestational age (SGA) infants. Methods. Forty-four singleton SGA subjects met the inclusion criteria and finished-3-month followup. Body weight, length, fasting glucose, and fasting insulin (FI) levels were measured at 3 days and 3 months. Insulin sensitivity was evaluated by FI and homeostasis model assessment (HOMA). Results. According to the change of weight Z-score, forty-four subjects were divided into two groups: noncatch-up growth (NCUG) and catch-up growth (CUG). By 3 months of age, the body weight, body length and BMI of NCUG group were significantly lower than those of CUG group. The FI and HOMA were significantly higher in NCUG group. The change of weight Z-score during 3 months was inversely related to the HOMA at 3 months. Conclusion. Our data exemplified that no weight catch-up growth during the first 3 months was associated with impaired insulin sensitivity in SGA infants

This MCQMS can resist a vacuum baking temperature of 400–500 °C. The quadrupole elements with a hyperbolic surface are made of a ceramic material and coated with a thin metal layer. The quadrupole mass filter has a field radius of 3 mm and a length of 100 mm. Prototypes of this new MCQMS can detect a minimum partial pressure of 10−8 Pa, have a peak width of ΔM=1 at 10% peak height from mass number 1 to 60, and show an excellent long-term stability.     Integrative analysis of microRNA and mRNA expression profiles in fetal rat model with anorectal malformation

    Background Anorectal malformations (ARMs) are the most common congenital malformation of the gut, and regulated by multiple signal transduction pathways. The microRNA (miRNA) expression profiles and their biologial functions in anorectal malformations (ARMs) remain unclear. The aim of our study was to evaluate miRNA and mRNA expression profiles in the ARM rats. Methods and Materials ARM was induced with ethylenethiourea (ETU) on gestational day 10. Cesarean deliveries were performed to harvest the embryos on gestional day 20. For the extraction of total RNA, 1 cm terminal hindgut samples were obtained from three fetal rats that had similar weights. The microarrays and quantitative RT-PCR analysis were conducted to evaluate the miRNA and mRNA expression profiles in normal fetal rats (n = 3) and ARM fetal rats (n = 3). Results In total, 33 miRNAs and 772 mRNAs were significantly and differentially expressed in terminal hindgut tissues of ARM group versus control group. Functional annotation was performed to understand the functions and pathways of differentially expressed mRNAs. Also, we constructed a miRNA-target gene regulatory network including 25 differentially expressed miRNAs and 76 mRNAs. Furthermore, the credibility of the microarray-based results were validated by using qRT-PCR. Conclusion The miRNA and mRNA expression in terminal hindgut tissue of ARM fetal rats might provide a basis for further research on the pathogenesis of ARMs

    Five Classification of Mammography Images Based on Deep Cooperation Convolutional Neural Network

    Mammography is currently the preferred imaging method for breast cancer screening. Masses and calcification are the main positive signs of mammography. Due to the variable appearance of masses and calcification, a significant number of breast cancer cases are missed or misdiagnosed if it is only depended on the radiologists’ subjective judgement. At present, most of the studies are based on the classical Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), which uses the transfer learning to classify the benign and malignant masses in the mammography images. However, the CNN is designed for natural images which are substantially different from medical images. Therefore, we propose a Deep Cooperation CNN (DCCNN) to classify mammography images of a data set into five categories including benign calcification, benign mass, malignant calcification, malignant mass and normal breast. The data set consists of 695 normal cases from DDSM, 753 calcification cases and 891 mass cases from CBIS-DDSM. Finally, DCCNN achieves 91% accuracy and 0.98 AUC on the test set, whose performance is superior to VGG16, GoogLeNet and InceptionV3 models. Therefore, DCCNN can aid radiologists to make more accurate judgments, greatly reducing the rate of missed and misdiagnosis

    (5R)-5-hydroxytriptolide inhibits the inflammatory cascade reaction in astrocytes

    Many studies have shown that (5R)-5-hydroxytriptolide is the optimal modified analogue of triptolide, possessing comparable immunosuppressive activity but much lower cytotoxicity than triptolide. Whether (5R)-5-hydroxytriptolide has preventive effects on neuroinflammation is unclear. This study was designed to pretreat primary astrocytes from the brains of neonatal Sprague-Dawley rats with 20, 100 and 500 nM (5R)-5-hydroxytriptolide for 1 hour before establishing an in vitro neuroinflammation model with 1.0 μg/mL lipopolysaccharide for 24 hours. The generation of nitric oxide was detected by Griess reagents. Astrocyte marker glial fibrillary acidic protein was measured by immunohistochemical staining. The levels of tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin-1β in the culture supernatant were assayed by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. Nuclear factor-κB/p65 expression was examined by immunofluorescence staining. The phosphorylation of inhibitor of nuclear factor IκB-α and the location of nuclear factor-κB/P65 were determined using western blot assay. Our data revealed that (5R)-5-hydroxytriptolide inhibited the generation of nitric oxide, tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin-1β from primary astrocytes activated by lipopolysaccharide, decreased the positive reaction intensity of glial fibrillary acidic protein, reduced the expression of tumor necrosis factor alpha and interleukin-1β in culture supernatant, inhibited the phosphorylation of IκB-α and the translocation of nuclear factor-κB/P65 to the nucleus. These results have confirmed that (5R)-5-hydroxytriptolide inhibits lipopolysaccharide-induced glial inflammatory response and provides cytological experimental data for (5R)-5-hydroxytriptolide in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases

    A study on the effect of using the video teach-back method in continuous nursing care of stroke patients

    ObjectiveTo explore the effect of a video teach-back method on continuous family nursing care of stroke patients.MethodsStroke patients hospitalized in our hospital between March 2020 and March 2023 who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into an intervention group (n = 45), who received routine health education plus video teach-back training of caregivers, and a control group (n = 45), who received routine health education only. The effects on nursing-related variables were compared between the two groups.ResultsTotal scores representing the caring ability of caregivers in the intervention group increased significantly over time relative to baseline and were higher than those of the control group. Scores representing the care burden of caregivers in the intervention group decreased significantly over time and were lower than those of the control group.ConclusionThe teach-back method combined with video education improves the nursing ability of family caregivers and can improve the self-care ability of stroke patients
