A Photonic Crystal Slab Laplace Differentiator

We introduce an implementation of a Laplace differentiator based on a photonic crystal slab that operates at transmission mode. We show that the Laplace differentiator can be implemented provided that the guided resonances near the Γ\Gamma point exhibit an isotropic band structure. Such a device may facilitate nanophotonics-based optical analog computing for image processing.Comment: Primary text 6 pages, 5 figures; Supplementary material 5 pages, 3 figure

    Exotic QQqˉqˉQQ\bar{q}\bar{q}, QQqˉsˉQQ\bar{q}\bar{s} and QQsˉsˉQQ\bar{s}\bar{s} states

After constructing the possible JP=0,0+,1J^P=0^-, 0^+, 1^- and 1+1^+ QQqˉqˉQQ\bar{q}\bar{q} tetraquark interpolating currents in a systematic way, we investigate the two-point correlation functions and extract the corresponding masses with the QCD sum rule approach. We study the QQqˉqˉQQ\bar{q}\bar{q}, QQqˉsˉQQ\bar{q}\bar{s} and QQsˉsˉQQ\bar{s}\bar{s} systems with various isospins I=0,1/2,1I=0, 1/2, 1. Our numerical analysis indicates that the masses of doubly-bottomed tetraquark states are below the threshold of the two bottom mesons, two bottom baryons and one doubly bottomed baryon plus one anti-nucleon. Very probably these doubly-bottomed tetraquark states are stable.Comment: 37 pages, 2 figure

Transport critical current density in Fe-sheathed nano-SiC doped MgB2 wires

The nano-SiC doped MgB2/Fe wires were fabricated using a powder-in-tube method and an in-situ reaction process. The depression of Tc with increasing SiC doping level remained rather small due to the counterbalanced effect of Si and C co-doping. The high level SiC co-doping allowed creation of the intra-grain defects and nano-inclusions, which act as effective pinning centers, resulting in a substantial enhancement in the Jc(H) performance. The transport Jc for all the wires is comparable to the magnetic Jc at higher fields despite the low density of the samples and percolative nature of current. The transport Ic for the 10wt% SiC doped MgB2/Fe reached 660A at 5K and 4.5T (Jc = 133,000A/cm2) and 540A at 20K and 2T (Jc = 108,000A/cm2). The transport Jc for the 10wt% SiC doped MgB2 wire is more than an order of magnitude higher than for the state-the-art Fe-sheathed MgB2 wire reported to date at 5K and 10T and 20K and 5T respectively. There is a plenty of room for further improvement in Jc as the density of the current samples is only 50%.Comment: 4 pages, 7 figures, presented at ASC 2002, Housto

    Possible JPC=0+J^{PC} = 0^{+-} Exotic State

We study the possible exotic states with JPC=0+J^{PC} = 0^{+-} using the tetraquark interpolating currents with the QCD sum rule approach. The extracted masses are around 4.85 GeV for the charmonium-like states and 11.25 GeV for the bottomomium-like states. There is no working region for the light tetraquark currents, which implies the light 0+0^{+-} state may not exist below 2 GeV.Comment: 13 pages, 11 figures, 2 table
