Contextual Optimizer through Neighborhood Estimation for prescriptive analysis

We address the challenges posed by heteroscedastic noise in contextual decision-making. We propose a consistent Shrinking Neighborhood Estimation (SNE) technique that successfully estimates contextual performance under unpredictable variances. Furthermore, we propose a Rate-Efficient Sampling rule designed to enhance the performance of the SNE. The effectiveness of the combined solution ``Contextual Optimizer through Neighborhood Estimation"(CONE) is validated through theorems and numerical benchmarking. The methodologies have been further deployed to address a staffing challenge in a hospital call center, exemplifying their substantial impact and practical utility in real-world scenarios

Abnormal Changes of Brain Cortical Anatomy and the Association with Plasma MicroRNA107 Level in Amnestic Mild Cognitive Impairment

MicroRNA107 (Mir107) has been thought to relate to the brain structure phenotype of Alzheimer’s disease. In this study, we evaluated the cortical anatomy in amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) and the relation between cortical anatomy and plasma levels of Mir107 and beta-site amyloid precursor protein (APP) cleaving enzyme 1 (BACE1). Twenty aMCI (20 aMCI) and 24 cognitively normal control (NC) subjects were recruited, and T1-weighted MR images were acquired. Cortical anatomical measurements, including cortical thickness (CT), surface area (SA), and local gyrification index (LGI), were assessed. Quantitative RT-PCR was used to examine plasma expression of Mir107, BACE1 mRNA. Thinner cortex was found in aMCI in areas associated with episodic memory and language, but with thicker cortex in other areas. SA decreased in aMCI in the areas associated with working memory and emotion. LGI showed a significant reduction in aMCI in the areas involved in language function. Changes in Mir107 and BACE1 messenger RNA plasma expression were correlated with changes in CT and SA. We found alterations in key left brain regions associated with memory, language, and emotion in aMCI that were significantly correlated with plasma expression of Mir107 and BACE1 mRNA. This combination study of brain anatomical alterations and gene information may shed lights on our understanding of the pathology of AD

In the title coordination polymer, {[Zn(C11H15O3)2(C10H8N2)(C11H16O3)]·H2O}n, the ZnII ion is five coordinated by two N atoms from two 4,4′-bipyridine (4,4′-bpy) molecules and three O atoms from two 3-hydroxyadamantane-1-carboxylate anions (L) and one 3-hydroxyadamantane-1-carboxylic acid (HL) molecule. The resulting coordination polyhedron is a near regular ZnN2O3 trigonal bipyramid, with the N atoms in axial sites. The 4,4′-bpy molecules [dihedral angle between the aromatic rings = 17.2 (2)°] act as bridges, connecting the metal ions into an infinite polymeric chain propagating in [01]. O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds help to consolidate the packing

The title coordination compound, {[Co(C11H15O3)4(C10H8N2)2(H2O)]·7H2O}n, consists of a pair of CoII atoms, four 3-hydroxyadamantane-1-carboxylate anions (L), one water molecule, two bridging 4,4′-bipyridine (4,4′-bpy) ligands and seven uncoordinated water molecules. Both of the CoII ions are coordinated in a distorted octahedral geometry. Four L ligands bind to each pair of CoII atoms in a plane, two of which bridge the two CoII atoms as bidentate groups while the other two coordinate to a single CoII atom in a monodentate mode. Two half-molecules of 4,4′-bipyridine coordinate the CoII atoms from the upside and underside. The packing features extensice O—H⋯O hydrogen bonding
